Chapter Eight

Max

Lunch was something I look forward to during school. No, it wasn't cause of the inedible food that they serve. And most definitely not the slimy Mac and cheese made with vegan cheese. It was my lunch time make out sessions with Lindsey, my girl- my ex-girlfriend. I find Carter sitting with some of the other football team members and cheerleaders. Unfortunately, Xander and Lindsey were amongst them.

"So, did you finally come around and see that Sally girl is a cow?" Lindsey says with a sneer.

I ignore her and sit down next to Carter. I took a big bite of food to keep my mouth full, preventing me from talking.

"Aren't ya gonna invite Sally over here?" Xander ask with a sly grin, "She is ya girlfriend ya know."

The charred and flavorless taste of the dry overcooked fish patty would make me gag, but I force myself to chow slowly. Eating crap like this is much better than partaking in this stupid drama.

Unfortunately, Xander grabbed my arm when I wouldn't answer him. "Aren't ya gonna invite ya girlfriend over to this table?" He said with a warning look. I had no choice. I swallow the crap the school calls food, and I motion for Sally to join us. Sally walked to the table with Charlie, both unsure about the invite.

"You are not going to invite these two?" Lindsey said with disgust.

"Hi, Max," Sally said shyly.

"Here sit down," I say pulling out a chair for her.

"Eh hem," Charlie grunted, "I am here too."

"You can sit here," Carter said patting down the chair.

The table grown quiet once the two girls joined our table. So did the whole cafeteria. With only muffled whispers being heard. This is definitely going to be big drama for the whole school. Cause since when we invite girls like this to our table. But I have no choice but to let Sally be part of my school and dating life for the rest of the year.

Lindsey glares daggers at Sally as she stood to get up from the table. She had an unfinished salad bowl on her lunch tray, swimming in ranch sauce. With a smirk on her face, I knew what was coming. Lindsey faked tripped and the bowl of salad went all over Sally.

"Oopsie I am so sorry, here let me help you get cleaned up," Lindsey said grabbing serval napkins and wiping them on Sally's shirt. The action made more smears on her shirt. "Maybe a bath will help." She then pours her cup of water on Sally head. The cafeteria erupted with laughter.

"That what she gets for stealing someone's boyfriend." A person said.

"Ew, how could someone like her, when she looks like that?" Another person said.

The people are our table are smirking and enjoying the entertainment before them. Xander especially is enjoying this by his laugh. Carter looked down at the ground. Charlie got up from her chair. Fury in her eyes.

"Give me a freaking break! Lindsey just assaulted Sally but yet you are all making fun of her. The reason Sally is with Max is cause Lindsey is a rash on the ass!"

Lindsey slapped Charlie in the face. But Charlie pushed her against the wall. The students in the room were cheering as they fought. Xander is sitting there laughing and recording this on his phone.

As if on cue, the teachers come, after hearing such commotion. They break Charlie and Lindsey away from each other.

"What is the meaning of this?" Demanded a teacher.

"Ch-Charlie pinned me to the wall after saying something true about her friend that she didn't like," said Lindsey with her lip trembling.

"That isn't true she slapped me first," Charlie defended herself.

"I got it all recorded on my phone. Charlie definitely pushed Lindsey to the wall," Xander said.

"That isn't true-

"What happened?" the teach demanded to the whole cafeteria.

The students all grumbled in agreement with Lindsey. Paining her as the victim. The teacher turned to Lindsey.

"What else happened?"

"I was calling out Sally for cheating with my boyfriend and she came at me making me drop my salad on her," Lindsey says with perfect mocked sobs.

Everyone else nodded in agreement. The teacher looked over at Charlie and Sally. "Both of you go to the principal's office right now."

Sally looked up at me, her brown eyes pleading to me to stand up for her. But I keep my mouth shut. I watch as both of the walk out of the cafeteria. Deep down the pit of my stomach feels bad. I look over at Carter, with a guilty look on his face. Suddenly someone grabs my arm
and pulls me away from the table. Xander drags me to a quiet corner, with a nasty smile on his face.

"Ya are a terrible boyfriend ya know," Xander said bumping my arm, "could have defended her but didn't. What will she think of you now? If she breaks it up with you, I win the bet."

"What? How so. If she breaks it with me that's her fault not mine."

"But the agreement was for ya to date her for the whole school year. But if she backs out now, I will be tellin everyone ya cheated on that quiz."

I sigh with frustration. This agreement is getting more ridiculous. "Just please stay out of our relationship and don't try to mess it up."

"Can't make any promises ya know," he laughs and walks away.

Anger boiled in my veins. Xander is humiliating me with this bet. Not only that he is interfering with the relationship in hopes Sally breaks up with me. I am going to try to make it right. She can't break up with me. She is my only ticket to play football, and I don't want to lose it. I take a deep breath and walk to the principal's office to clear things up.
