YOU BELONG WITH ME
:: i. | something more

Rebecca was sure of many things in her life, she already knew. For example, she was sure she wasn't going to be valedictorian, her parents weren't going to get back together, and her first relationship was going to be a wreck. It's not that she wanted any of this to be true but she just knew because she knew herself and she knew her parents.

She was on the bus to school, headphones on, and a book in hand. One of her favorite songs was blasting through her ears and that song was none other than, Ain't It Fun by Paramore. She only played it when she wasn't in the bestest mood.

Before she left to the bus, her and and her mom got into an argument. It was worse than the others. It was about her dad, he wanted rebecca to move in with him and she agreed which her mom did not like. Rebecca didn't feel bad because her mom never gives her a reason of why she shouldn't. Now, this isn't the first time he asked but this is the first time she agreed. She's not saying her mom doesn't love her, she's not saying she doesn't love her mom, she just thinks it'll be easier living with her dad.

After another stop, the bus finally arrived and all the kids began to get off when the doors opened. Rebecca was somewhere in the middle as she walked off the bus. Her head was held high and her hands were by her side with one of them holding her book. As she walked into the school, she saw santana on the other side of the sidewalk. Just by a second, santana looked back then continued her way in with Brittany by her side.

The two were never really friends but santana is there for Rebecca when needed. The lopez girl just knows when it's her cue and the reason of their relationship dynamic is because they were each other's first kiss —— their realization. Both don't like to think about it or acknowledge it, they just push it back. But when it comes to something serious, the other is always there. However, when Brittany came into the picture, their dynamic shifted. They completely stopped talking and Rebecca then had no one.

That's exactly how she felt in that moment.

Alone.

First period had then started and the teacher was doing role call. The teacher went down each row of names and when Rebecca's was called, there was no answer. The teacher called again and looked up, the young teen was not there.

And Santana definitely noticed. She glanced at the empty seat suspiciously.

As class began starting, Rebecca was in the girl's bathroom. She was sitting on the floor with her back against the wall, knees up to her chest and once again, a book in hand. For some reason she didn't want to be in class and she couldn't make herself go in. Because of that, she whined up in the bathroom. She doesn't know if it's because of what happened with her mom or inner demons. She just wanted to sit there and go into her own world where harmony is perfect.

As she turned the last page of chapter three, footsteps were heard coming into the bathroom.

"I honestly thought you fell into the toilet, which i probably wouldn't have saved you."

Rebecca looked up, "Reaching your hand in the toilet is gross."

"And sitting on the bathroom floor." Santana made a disgusted expression.

Rebecca just wanted to get straight to it, "What do you want? We don't talk for over a year and now you're suddenly approaching me?"

"Mind you this is a public bathroom." Santana's arms dropped to her sides, "But you weren't in class and you're always in class."

A smirk appeared across Rebecca's lips, "So you pay attention?"

"When it's concerning about people that I tolerate." The cheerio leaned on the bathroom sink, "Real talk. What's been going on?"

Rebecca stood up and picked up her bag, swinging it over her shoulder, "Doesn't matter." She then headed towards the door, "We both know when we leave this bathroom we'll just go back to ignoring each other anyway."

So she opened the door and left the bathroom and not just a moment later, the bell went off. First period was over and study hall was about to began. As she began her way to the library, she was passing by the bulletin board for clubs and after school activities. She never showed interest in any of those but this time, something caught her eye — a sign up sheet that read Glee Club. She noticed that there was already one name written down and she admired the signature because her's is crappy.

But that didn't stop her from pulling a pencil out her bag and writing her name down. A smile appeared after doing so, then she continued her way to the library for study hall.

After the final bell rang for the day, the angsty teen was in no rush into making her bus. Being home was the last thing she wanted because she knew her and her mom were just going to pick right back up. But she also knew, her mom would flip if she didn't go home without giving her a heads up.

The bus ride was at least fifteen minutes because she's almost the third stop and from there, it's a five to ten minute walk depending how slow you are and Rebecca was trying to be the slowest as possible. She was not looking forward to walking through the front door, but when she approached it, a big gulp went down her throat. She intend to continue what they started, but she will not hesitate to defend herself even from a parent.

After opening the door and walking in, she began to head pass the kitchen and just when she thought she got away freely, she heard her name. But it was anything but calm.

"Rebecca Rosalyn Gonzalez! Come now!"

And it was her government name? She's fucked.

The young teen groaned as she tossed her bag on the steps, then turning around to head to the kitchen. Just like school, she walked in with her head held high. She takes no shit from anyone that includes her parents which is probably why she gets in trouble often.

"Hello, mother. You happy now that i decided to grace your presence." She even bowed when those words left her lips.

Mary turned around, "First, you say hi when you walk in and second, why weren't you in your first period?"

"Your guess is better than mine."

"If this has something to do with your dad, oh he's going to hear about it."

Rebecca scoffed, "There you again, bringing him up when it's not needed. I would at least expect you to have the same respect for him." She mumbled, "And you wonder why I wanna live with him."

Her voice rose, "Actually, yes I do! Am I that bad of a mother that you don't want to spend your high school career with?"

Rebecca's voice rose as well, "Maybe if I felt more seen and heard, then I'll consider it!"

Mary spoke softly, "You can't live with him."

"Give me one good reason."

"I can't." Mary shook her head, "It'll just ruin your perfect image of him."

Rebecca had no idea what that meant. But those words ruin, perfect —— she knew it had to be bad but she didn't know if she wanted to know how bad. However, she knew for sure that this was going to cause bigger problems now because she just knew her parents.
