girl meets popular

FARKLE FOUND Maya sitting in Svorski's, so he walked up to her to tell her what Lucas told him.

"Wait, Lucas told you that he's over the whole "Riley" thing?" She questioned.

"Yeah, but he doesn't want anyone to know."

"So how are we gonna get them together?"

"We're not." Farkle told her as he stood up.

"Huh?"

"They are."

"I still don't understand?"

"We are not going to do anything, Lucas likes Sophia, but he doesn't want to hurt Riley either. When Sophia tells Riley that she likes Lucas they should be together sooner or later."

"This can't happen later Farkle it has to happen now."

"We can't rush things, Maya."

"She can't rush what?"

Farkle turned around to see Sophia and Riley standing there.

"I can't rush homework." Maya said.

"Oh, okay then come on we're gonna be late." Riley said walking out with Sophia.

"We're not done Farkle."

"Yes, we are Maya." He told her and walked out with Sophia and Riley.

John Quincy Adams Middle School

"Look what's happening, look what's coming." Riley said.

"What's coming crazy?" Sophia asked.

"Invitations... to the seventh-grade parties. It's begun. We could be party girls. I'm going to need a party-girl walk." She answered.

"Yeah, that's not it." Maya said.

"You know, there are going to be boys at these parties. But not just any boys. No, opposite-sex boys. They're the best kind." She said.

"Yeah, you sound ready for this." Sophia said.

"Oh, I am. And I may just be the first girl who crosses over from our side of the room to the..."

"Yeah, it's gonna be us." Maya and Sophia said.

Riley huffed, "Yeah, it's gonna be you guys. You know what a pretty-boy hipster is handing out invitations to... don't you?

"A party?" Sophia questioned.

"Membership cards to the popular club." She said.

"Why can't you just let it be a party?" Maya asked.

"Because this is it, right here. This where you go one way and I go the other way. You get the invite and you marry pretty-boy hipster and I end up marrying Anthony Delveccio and we buy things in bulk. You guys are gonna be popular. I'm not." Riley said rubbing Sophia's head.

"Good for you. Good girl. Bye-bye, Maya and Sophia." She said crying.

But "Pretty Boy" walked over to the trio and tried to give Riley her invitation to the party but she pushed it to Maya who gave it to who pushed it towards Sophia.

Sophia pushes the invite back to the boy and he proceeded to push it back towards Riley.

Riley was ecstatic.

"Yay! For me. Sophia, Maya, I know you didn't get one, but is it okay if I'm really happy?" She asked.

Sophia smiled, "You go get 'em, tiger."

"We love you, but you're a lot of work." Maya said as they "party girl" danced out with Riley.

History: Mr. Matthews

"Boom!" Riley shouts putting the invitation on her on her fathers' desk.

"You got invited to something? So much for genetics, baby."

"Yup, I didn't get invited to a whole lot of these." He continued.

"Good for you. I'm proud of you. Boy-girl party?"

"Yup." Sophia smiled.

"You can't go." He told her

"You can't go." Sophia repeated.

"May we approach?" Maya asked.

"Hurry, please." They said at the same time.

"We're gonna keep your young'un out of trouble, sir." Maya told him.

"Hart, you are trouble." He told her.

"What about me?" Sophia asked.

"Hart you are trouble." He repeated.

"Why would I want my young'un anywhere near the same party you're gonna be at? You wouldn't." He said.

"Say it." Maya said.

"You know you wanna say it." Riley said.

"You can't go if Maya's invited." He said.

"Maya's not invited." Sophia told him.

"Then you may go." Maya said.

"Thanks, daddy."

"All right, good day, everybody." He said.

"Class dismissed." Maya shouted.

The students began to stand.

"Sit down!" He shouted

"Sit down." The trio said in unison.

Mr. Matthews sighed, "So there's this guy Damocles who really really wants to be king."

"One day he gets an invitation to come to sit on the throne and actually hang with royalty." He continued.

"No!" Riley shouted.

"Sup, Riles?" Sophia asked.

"Pop's lesson hitting a little close to home?" Maya asked.

"Nope, what he's saying has nothing to do with me." She smiled.

"Yes, I've been invited to hang with middle-school royalty, but nothing bad could happen."

"I'm sure you're right." Sophia smiled.

Everything tonight could go wrong at that party.

"Farkle" Mr. Matthews called.

"When Damocles sat on the throne he noticed a sword hanging over it, held up by a single tiny thread." Farkle said.

"Sophia."

"Be careful what you wish for." Sophia told him.

It almost came out as a question.

"Why?"

"Being what other people want you to be is just a sword hanging over your head."

He smiled, "Good."

Party

"Well, looky here, teacher daddy, nothing hanging over my head except this here halo of popularity." Riley told her father.

"And yay for you, my best friends, for watching me with a smile."

"Yeah, I'm smiling." Maya said.

"I'm watching." Sophia added.

"All right, all right. Half hour you can stay." Mr. Matthews told her.

"We're waiting right here." Maya told him.

Riley rang the doorbell, they heard footsteps approaching the door.

"I changed my mind." He told Riley.

"I want you both in there. Protect your friend." He pleaded with the girls.

"We can't do that, sir." Sophia said.

"Wasn't invited." Maya added.

"Why is that exactly?"

"About to find out, sir."

"Smile. Watch." Maya told him.

The door soon swung open.

"Greetings, fellow partygoer." Farkle said opening the door.

Mr. Matthews smiled, "Farkle?"

"Starting to become clear, sir?" Sophia asked.

"Oh yeah. I'm smiling real big."

"Announcing the arrival of party guest number six, female number one." Farkle said.

"Smackle's right there Farkle." Sophia said.

How did she know Smackle?

She talked to her every now and then.

She, when she was younger, had this not-so-giant secret crush on Smackle.

Smackle didn't know anything about it.

"You getting this yet?" Maya asked.

"But pretty boy, pretty boy's still here." Riley said with some hope in her voice.

"Wait for it." Sophia said.

She became giddier by the second.

Pretty boy was really two "nerds" wearing a really long black jacket.

"That's the greatest thing I've ever seen in my life." Mr. Matthews said, the smile never leaving his face.

"It's a geek party." Riley pouted.

"I know, honey." Her two friends said together.

"Everybody welcome Riley." Farkle said.

Then everyone was speaking different languages.

"Stay a week, stay forever. Just enjoy." Mr. Matthews told her.

"Hey, you know what would make this just perfect for me?" He asked, turning towards the two girls.

"Have you noticed the lightsabers hanging from the ceiling precariously over your head?" Farkle said.

One of the lightsabers dropped and stayed under Riley's head.

"Damocles."

Mr. Matthews couldn't help but laugh.

"There it is."

History: Mr. Matthews

The next day, Riley wasn't even home, meaning Maya and Sophia had to go to school without her.

"Okay, Farkle." Sophia said walking into the classroom with Maya trailing behind.

She grabbed the collar of his shirt and pulled him close, "Where is she?"

"Whatever have I done to deserve this display of affection?" He smiled.

"This looks like affection to you?" Lucas asked.

He grabbed her hand and pulled her off of him, but that didn't stop Maya from doing the same.

"I take it however I gets it." He said.

"Right there, nurse." He teased and smacked his lips together.

"She wasn't there when we tried to pick her up this morning and we couldn't find her in the halls." Maya told Farkle.

"What'd you do with our girl?" Maya asked.

"Maya, release the Farkle." Riley said from afar.

They turned around and saw Riley dressed as a Harajuku girl.

"Farkle didn't do anything except open my eyes to what the world really thinks I am." She said.

"A Harajuku girl?" Sophia asked.

"Yes, because I figure if what I am is nerdy-geeky, I'm going to set the nerdy-geeky world on fire." She said.

"You take it." Sophia told Maya

"Nope, beyond me." She said.

"All yours." They told Matthews.

"Why should I struggle to be popular when I can be these people's empress fairy queen?" She asked.

"No, please." Maya said.

"The one guy was two guys." Sophia told her.

"The sword fell." Maya said to her.

"This is the way you're gonna go?" Sophia asked her.

"You're gonna embrace this?" Maya added.

"Deal with it." She told them.

Farkle smirked, "She's gone over to the dork side."

"This isn't you." They told her.

"This is her." Farkle said

"They love this me." Riley said.

"We're not changing you back." Sophia said.

She turned around and sat angrily in her seat.

"Oh, yes you are. My daughter's going through this week's crazy. You guys get in there." Mr. Matthews said.

"Father, may we continue with the lesson? I seek knowledge."

"Never mind, leave her alone."

"Look at her." Maya told him.

Riley has her head deep down into the book.

Matthews just ignored it.

"All right, what do you guys know about girls?" He asked the two boys in the back.

"Mostly we're terrified of them, sir." One of them said.

"So we try to keep our distance." The other added.

"Well, then I choose empress fairy nut job." He told them.

Bay Window

"Come on." Maya said.

"This is not who you are." Sophia told Riley.

The two of them have been at this for a couple of hours now.

They really had no point of trying again.

"What do you know about being a Harajuku girl?" Maya asked her.

"I don't have to know anything except that they love it." She replied.

"Sorry, Maya, Sophia, I walk with a different crowd now." She said:

"And as you can see, I am quite the influence on them."

"Maya? Sophia?" Mr. Matthews questioned, knocking on the door before entering.

Sophia sighed, "She's gone, sir."

"Yes, she is." Maya told him as he walked out.

"Okay, I'm gonna take one last shot at this while I believe Riley is still in there and not completely under the spell of-" Maya stopped herself as she heard Farkle's voice.

"Ladies."

"Farkle!" Maya shouted, throwing him on the ground.

"She's one of us now, Maya." He replied.

"She's one of us, Farkle." Sophia fired back.

"You're not letting her reach her full potential." He said.

Sophia turned and faced Riley, "The world I know wants you to be yourself."

"In our world, it needs you in it." Maya said.

"You're one of us now. And I've decided to prove it by letting you help the John Quincy Adams' spelling-bee team to the regional finals." He said.

"Really?"

"I'm right about you, Riley. I know I am."

"Thank you, Farkle."

"Sorry, Maya and Sophia"

"The world wants what the world wants. And right now the world wants me like this."

"This isn't over, Farkle." Sophia said.

"I'm not scared." He said.

"Oh, really?" Maya said pushing him down.

But he pulled her down and he grabbed Sophia's ankle and pulled her down with Maya.

"Guys, what about me?" Riley asked.

Soon after she was on the ground too.

Spelling Bee

"Okay, Miss Matthews."

That was the first thing Maya and Sophia heard as they entered the room.

"Your first word is-" He stopped when they approached him.

"Maya, Sophia, you can't-" He was cut off by Sophia.

"Check out the word, sir"

"Maya, Sophia, what are you doing?" Riley asked.

"Hey, Farkle's not the only one with a master plan." Maya told her.

Farkle almost looked worried.

"Miss Matthews, your word is Harajuku."

"Excuse me?"

"Harajuku." He repeated.

"Uh, may I have the meaning of the word?"

"Oh, you don't know? Then let me tell you. It's a real neighborhood in Japan, where authentic Japanese girls have created an authentic look and life for themselves that is unique to them." Mr. Matthews explained.

"Country of origin?"

"Are you kidding me?" Sophia asked.

"Can I hear it in a sentence?"

"Yeah." He said.

"Stop pretending to be a Harajuku girl, because you're not, you're Riley." Maya said.

"R-i-l-e-y."

"Five seconds, Miss Matthews, or you're eliminated." Mr. Matthews said.

"What do you mean eliminated?"

"It means you wouldn't be part of the group anymore." Farkle said.

"Harajuku, something I'm n-o-t." She said.

"Sorry, Farkle. It was a lovely party and your friends are really pretty cool."

"We are? We've never been called that before." One of the boys said.

"Thanks, Riley. We feel the same way about you." Farkle told her.

The bell rang once again and the students walked out of the classroom.

Sovorski's

"Well, I guess we're back to where popular is gonna be kind of hard, huh?" Riley asked.

"I wouldn't know." Sophia said.

"And let's not try so hard to find out." Maya told them.
