girl meets brother
"WELL, ANOTHER year we're not going to be cheerleaders." Riley said.
"I was picked to be a cheerleader, I said no because you're not a cheerleader." Sophia told her.
"You should have taken the offer." Riley said.
"But I didn't."
"Why do you make me do these things? Pom-poms are stupid and pyramids made of humans freak me out. And what are these?" Maya said looking down.
"These are your legs." Riley told her.
"Have you ever seen anything so white?" She asked.
"One time when I looked into the sun." Riley said.
"These need to be put away. We have to go to Demolition right now and get clothes. Because you know they're gonna find out we took these things." Maya said walking away.
"But my curfew's in fifteen minutes." Riley said.
"But they're having a sale. Vintage t-shirts." Sophia said.
"Ooh, I do love t-shirts that other people have already loved." Riley said with a smile.
"You are the only person I know that has to be home by seven." Maya said.
"It's ridiculous. They treat me like a baby." Riley said.
"Who?" Sophia asked.
"Ma-ma da-da." She said.
"Oh, I wonder why?"
"It's time I was treated like the woman I am. I am going to Demolition!" She said.
"That's the spirit!" Maya said and we started walking away but Riley wasn't there.
"You're not really coming, are you?" Sophia asked.
"Nah. Wait. You know what? I am. I am old enough to stay out past seven o'clock. What's the damage for this, in your professional opinion?" She asked.
"Broken curfew?" Maya asked.
"Chump change. Whole thing blows over by Wednesday." Sophia said.
"Worth it! Let's do this!" She said.
"Great! See you Wednesday."
The three girls headed towards Demolition.
Matthews Residents
"What if Sophia's Nana watched you?" The girls heard Topanga say.
"I would like that." Auggie said.
"Oh wait, she can't she's watching Jameson." Mr. Matthews said.
"Shoot."
"I'm late, I'm late, I know I'm late!" Riley said.
"Seven minutes." Cory told her.
"Say nothing. Keep walking." Maya said.
"No. This is a thing. Deal with your bad girl." Riley said.
"Okay, where were you?" Topanga asked.
"Demolition. It's an alternative store. Where rebels go! And I bought this t-shirt I don't think you'll entirely approve of." Riley said.
She pulled out the ugliest shirt. Sophia told her not to get it.
She held the shirt up, "Bleh!"
"Edgy." Topanga said.
"Uh, Riley, what's going on?" Mr. Matthews asked.
"I am too old for a seven o'clock curfew. I reject it! Reject it! Reject it! Won't even respect it!" Riley said.
"Didn't make the team again, huh?" Mr. Matthews asked.
"No!" She shouted.
"Every year." Mr. Mathews muttered.
"Okay, look, Riley, your father and I gave you a seven o'clock curfew because we knew that even when you got all rebellious you'd still be home by seven-thirty." She said.
"What?" Riley was confused.
"Yeah. So when you come in here at seven acting all dangerous, it's hard-" He started laughing, "I'm sorry. I can't even keep a straight face."
"What are you laughing at? I'm outta control!" Riley said.
"Maya, Sophia, you couldn't keep her out any later than that? I mean, what kind of bad influence are you?" He asked.
"You're right." Maya said.
"We've gotta up our game." Sophia said.
Maya and Sophia looked around she grabbed a pillow and Sophia grabbed a yellow jacket.
"That'll look great in my room." Maya said.
The two walked out.
Maya and Sophia left and soon a whole lot of questions came.
"How are you and Lucas?"
"Nothing's going on between Lucas and I."
"Okay, what about you and Thomas."
"Nothing between Thomas and I either."
"Then why did he grab your hands during the presidential debate thing."
"How am I supposed to know, I thought he liked Riley."
"He might like you too."
"I highly doubt that."
"He might, this same thing happened with Lucas."
"Lucas and Thomas are not the same people."
"You're right. But they both like you."
"You know Maya, you're always talking about my love life, what about you, do you like Thomas."
"No, no I don't." She said and walked away.
"That's just great now I'm walking by myself."
Matthews Residents
"What up, weirdoes?" Maya said over the intercom.
"Come on up!" She said.
""Red planet diaries!"" Maya said.
"Ooh! Tonight's the season finale!" Riley said.
The three girls sat down on the couch.
"Out here in space I kiss your green face." The lady sang.
"But it feels like you're light-years away." The guy sang.
"Previously, on "Red Planet Diaries" The narrator said.
"Oh, blarg. I know I'm from the earth and not used to your martian customs yet, but I think I'm in love with your other head." The lady said.
"But what's he have that I don't have?" The first guy said.
"Uh, I'm right here." The second guy said.
"I'm going to my room now. Riley, are you coming?" Auggie asked.
Sophia looked over at him, he wasn't smiling.
"Yeah yeah, just gimme a sec." She said, her eyes were glued on the tv.
Auggie sighed and walked into his room.
Sophia followed after him.
"Hey, Auggie." Sophia said walking in.
"Go away."
"What did you do to your room?"
It was like a pirate ship.
"It was something for Riley and I, but you and Maya came."
"I'm sorry that I ruined your night."
"It's okay, you wanna play?" He asked.
"Yeah, I have a great game we can play."
"Oh, blarg's other head, if only we could run off together, without - You know-" The lady on tv said.
Sophia stuck her head out with a fake painted-on mustache on Auggie soon poked he head out with a fake mustache too.
"Actually, there is a way." The man on tv said.
"What is it?!" The lady asked.
"What is it?" The two asked.
Auggie grabbed the remote and turned it off and then gave it to Sophia.
"No!" They shouted.
"No more TV!" Auggie and Sophia said.
"Auggie, Sophia, we were watching that." Riley said.
"Give it back, you runt." Maya said.
She was calling Auggie a runt.
"You're a runt! And you're the worst babysitter in the world! You shouldn't watch TV when you babysit your brother!" Auggie said.
Sophia walked towards the window, Auggie following behind.
"Sophia where are you going with that?" Riley asked.
"I'm going to throw it out the window!" She said, "Maya and I weren't supposed to be here tonight."
"You wouldn't dare." Riley said.
"She will do it! She will do it, lady!" Auggie said, "You're the worst babysitter in the world!"
"You're the worst baby in the world!" Riley said.
Sophia still had the remote hanging out of the window.
"You turned it off at the best part." Maya said.
Sophia turned to Auggie and gave him the remote.
"Maya we were not even supposed to be here."
Auggie turned towards the window and stuck the remote further out.
"Easy there, put the remote down nice and easy- and nobody gets hurt, buddy." Maya said.
"You're not my buddy. You shouldn't even be here." Auggie told her.
"Auggie, what's the matter with you?" Riley asked.
"You're what's the matter with me. You know what, Maya? You can have Riley. She'd rather be with you anyway. She's your sister now." Auggie said turning around.
"Auggie!" Riley shouted.
"This is the worst night ever!" He said.
Sophia followed him into his room.
Auggie opened the door and his parents were in there.
"Hi, buddy." His dad said.
"Having fun?" Topanga asked.
"Are you home? Why are you not fixing this?" Auggie asked.
"Because, Auggie, Riley wants responsibility. And it's important to let her try." Mr. Matthews said.
"She has failed." Auggie said.
"We believe that she won't fail." Topanga said.
"Too late. Go yell at her." Auggie said.
"Auggie I think they have a point." Sophia said.
If looks could kill.
"You know, this is a family thing. I'm just gonna go." Sophia said leaving the room.
"Now we'll never know if Ashley the astronaut ends up with Blarg or Blarg's other head." Riley said.
Sophia sat in between the two girls.
"Gee, if only something existed where we could type in a few words and-" Maya started.
"It's not the same! We were really looking forward to this night and Auggie ruined it." Riley said.
"I think Auggie could say the same thing about me, Riley. He just wanted to spend time with you. You're really lucky to have that." Maya said.
"I know. It's like we don't pay attention to the people who really care about us." Riley said.
"Ladies!" Farkle said looking through the window.
Sophia smiled, "Hey Farkle."
"Get lost, Farkle, we can't pay attention to you right now." Maya said.
"But I feel like when we don't have school I'm not even part of the story." He said.
"There's someone who really cares about me, and I'm not letting him know that I care about him too." Riley said.
"Ooh, maybe I am part of the story." He asked.
"And I really love the little guy. And all he wanted to do was show me his room." She said.
"How did you know?" He asked.
"I gotta go talk to Auggie." She said getting up.
"Well well..." He said looking at Maya.
Maya got up and left.
It was just him and Sophia.
She smiled, "Come on in."
"What's going on between you and Lucas lately?" He asked.
"Nothing." She looked down.
"What about you and Thomas?"
"Nothing."
"Are you sure it's nothing."
"Not really"
She stood up and headed towards the door.
He smiled, "You know where to find me."
Sophia and Riley were now in the living room.
"Okay, Mr. Googly. You're my sister now." Auggie said.
"But don't you want to give Riley one more chance?" Sophia asked him.
"No, it's you and me! Oh, it's you." Auggie said.
"I went into your room looking for you. I saw what you did. I'm so sorry." Riley said.
"It could've been the best night ever." He said.
"Maybe it still can be." She said.
"How?" He asked.
He looked at Sophia who pointed at her mustache.
The three walked into Auggie's room.
"Arrgh!" Maya said.
"How did you do this?!" He asked.
"Demolition. Open late tonight and I have no curfew at all. Now, where's all your treasure, matey?" Maya asked in her pirate voice.
"We're being boarded by blonde beard!" Auggie said.
"Oh! Thanks for letting me stick around tonight, Auggie." Maya said.
"You're not such a bad pirate." Auggie told her.
"So, can we keep her?" Riley asked.
"Yeah." He said.
"But you and I are brother and sister again." He said.
"What about me Auggie?" Sophia asked.
"You're the one I can count on when my family is not around." He said.
She looked down and smiled Riley should be very lucky to have Auggie around.
"Then who am I?" Maya asked.
"You're the one who walks the plank!" He said.
"I can't swim!" Maya said jumping off the bed.
Sophia and Auggie walked towards the window.
"You win." He said to his parents.
"No brother?" Mr. Matthews asked.
"No. I'm the brother." Auggie said.
Sophia stood up as well following behind Auggie but Mr. Matthews called her back over.
"Yes, sir."
"Thank you." They said.
"Why?"
"For looking out for Auggie." Topanga said.
She smiled, "No problem."
The Next Morning
"Smells good." Sophia said.
The three girls sat on the bench.
"What are we having?" Maya asked.
"Cory's breakfast special scrambled eggs!" Mr. Matthews said.
"Seriously? You cooked the entire McScrambleface family?" Riley asked.
"Yeah. Yum yum. Eat 'em up." Mr. Matthew said.
"That was Amanda's best friend. She used to come in through her bedroom window every night, and they'd talk for hours." Riley said.
Maya and Sophia were confused.
"Okay." He said.
"That was mama McScrambleface. She used to look wow." Riley continued.
"Who'd I get?" Auggie asked her.
"You got baby brother McScrambleface. He was my favorite." She said.
"You monster." He said.
"Out for pancakes?" Mr.Matthews asked.
With that, they were all out of the room.
