We try to be strong for those we love.

Krunos POV

"Asuma-Sensei is late." I said, as I strolled up the hill, with my hands behind my head. Shikamaru nodded his head, sighing loudly.

"Yeah, I know. What a drag." Shika said, rolling his eyes slightly as he walked over to me, throwing his left arm around my neck, and walking with me back to where the rest of our team was. Ino looked at us, before she let a giggle pass her lips. I tilted my head at her, and gave her the 'what are you laughing about?'

"You guys would be so cute together!" She exclaimed, and I looked over at Shikamaru, who did the same to me, before we both busted out laughing. We then looked over at Ino, and shook our heads very quickly.

"Um, no, she's too troublesome for me." He said, before removing his arm around my neck. I pouted at him, and grabbed his arm, forcing it back around my neck.

"Don't you dare try and stop holding me, you freak face!" I shouted at him, pointing my noise into the air, making a hmph noise. Shikamaru mumbled about how troublesome I am, and how much of a drag having to deal with me is. I only laughed and then moved away from him, allowing his arm to fall limp beside him. He rolled his eyes, and I smiled slightly as Asuma-Sensei finally arrived at the training grounds.

"Hey guys! Sorry I'm late, I was eating." He said with a nervous chuckle, the cigar in his mouth still at the same burning point when we met him yesterday. I mean, obviously it was a different cigar, but it just kind of made me giggle. He smiled at us, before we announced that we would work on teamwork. I just nodded, and we all moved into the middle of the training room.

After a little bit, we formed a moved called "Ino-Shika-Cho-Kru!" Asuma said that we would learn different variations of this teamwork transformation, but now we had to use the one we had successfully mastered to take three bells from. All of four of us lined up in a row, and took the stance. It started with Ino, who yelled Ino as she began her mind control jutsu. While she was getting it ready, Shikamaru used his Shadow Possession Jutsu so that Ino's attack would not miss. He caught Asuma-Sensei, and Asuma looked fairly surprised that Shikamaru had caught him. But once he did, Shikamaru yelled out "Shika!"

Next was Choji, who used his Human Bolder Jutsu. He extanded his body and yelled out "Cho!" Before he took off rolling towards Asuma-Sensei. Once Choji was close enough, Shikamaru released his Shadow Possession Jutsu, since when Choji hit Sensei, it would hurt Shikamaru if he was still using his technique. I removed Watamote from my Jacket, and yelled out "Kru!" Before using Beast Human Clone, this caused Watamote to jump onto my back and turn into a perfect clone of me. My nails drew to more of those of a canines, and my canine teeth grew even sharper. I got down on all fours, and glanced over at Watamote before we took off running towards Asuma-Sensei. "Fang over fang!" I screamed, and both Watamote and I turned into spiraling balls that looked like rockets, and we attacked Asuma. At the moment that the attack was over, Ino returned to her body and I sat like a dog beside of Shikamaru and Choji, my dog like features still being very exaggerated at the moment.

Shikamaru put his hand on my head, and smiled down at me, ruffling my hair slightly. I only slightly growled at him before releasing the Jutsu. I turned back into my normal self, and so did Watamote. I stood up beside of my team as Asuma-Sensei stood back up. The beating that he took caused him to have a lot of scratch marks, and some of them were bleeding. He smiled lazily at us, and we all returned it.

"Good job guys! See, that is the kind of team work that you guys need to work on. Other than that, we are just going to work on the basics." He said, and we began to work on the basics. Shikamaru was getting everything the first try, which really caught Asuma's eyes. Even though I caught on almost as quickly as Shikamaru, Asuma did notice me. Every time I tried to get his attention, he was paying attention to Shika. I sighed slightly as I walked over to a tree, and focused the perfect amount of chakra to my feet, and began to climb without my hands. I got up to the very top of the tree, and watched my team practice, none of them seeming to even notice I was gone.

I teared up slightly, was this what it was like when I gone? No one really even noticing that I was gone? A single tear ran down my face as I pulled a kunai out of my pouch, and threw it down onto the training field, not so that it would hurt anyone, but just where it would startle them when it hit the ground. That it did. Ino screamed, Asuma pulled out his Chakra Blades. I was high enough in the trees that they couldn't see me due to the leaves. Choji began to freak out, but Shikamaru just sighed, looking up at the tree.

"Who's up there?" Asuma called out, before Ino and Choji began to look around, finally noticing that I was gone. They began to freak out even more than before. Shikamaru was still standing there, staring up at the sky. Honestly, I couldn't tell if he was staring at where I was, or the clouds. I sighed slightly as I jumped down from the top of the tree, clearing shocking three of the four who were on the ground. I watched how close I got to the ground before focusing my chakra to my feet, landing on them softly before rolling out the landing, just to make sure that I didn't hurt anything too terribly. Asuma placed his Chakra Blades back into his pouch, and shook his head at me slightly.

"Were you trying to hurt someone down here?" He asked, and I shook my head, my brown mop of a hair moving from side to side.

"I was using my kunai to mark how high up in the tree I had climbed, sensei." I said with a nod, before looking up at the tall man. "I do apologize. I wasn't attempting to hurt anyone, or scare anyone. I was just practicing."

Asuma-Sensei chuckled slightly before walking over to me, ruffling my hair with his palm slightly before telling me that it was okay, and that he was proud of me. He asked me if I would show him just how I got to the top of the tree, and I nodded before walking back over to the tree, focusing my Chakra to my feet before beginning to walk back up the tree, only slightly. I stopped a little less than a quarter of the way up, and looked back at Asuma-Sensei who was smiling brightly at me, the rest of my team was cheering me on.

I walked back down the tree, and up to my team. Shika walked over to me, and wrapped his arm around my shoulder, pulling me into a lazy hug. I returned the hug, just as lazily. Asuma said that we were done with training tomorrow, and that we would start our first mission tomorrow. We all smiled and nodded, Choji and Ino walking in different directions than Shikamaru and I. We walked together, like always. I looked over at him and let a small giggle pass my lips.

"What is it, you troublesome woman?" He asked, not even looking over at me, just keeping his eyes straight as he walked.

"Can we stop and get some BBQ?!" I asked, a little too loud. Shikamaru rolled his eyes, but agreed to stop and get some BBQ with me. We walked to the store, and picked a booth to sit at. I could smell the BBQ, and it was causing my mouth to water. It had been a long time since I have had BBQ, and I was beyond excited.

The chief prepared us three orders of BBQ to start out with, and we both began to eat what we were given. I, was most defiantly not eating very lady like but honestly, Shikamaru had seen me eat a lot messier, and a lot quicker than I currently was. When I was done, I looked up at Shikamaru with a face full of BBQ sauce, and this caused him to laugh a little louder than his current very quiet chuckle.

At this moment, Kiba walked into the shop and looked over when he heard Shikamaru laugh, and he began to laugh just as hard as he walked over to us. He plopped down beside me, and leaned against me.

"WHY DIDN'T YOU OFFER TO BRING ME TO GET BBQ?!" Kiba shouted in my ear, and I smacked him the back of the head as hard as I could, causing his head to fly foreword and hit the table in front of us. He sat up and looked at me, glaring very intensely at me. I smiled a closed eye smile, and then kissed my brothers forehead where he had hit it.

"I'm sorry bubby!" I said, tossing my arms around his neck, hugging him close. He rolled his eyes and placed an arm against mine as if he was hugging me back. I smiled slightly and moved away from him, looking back at Shikamaru was saying something about how troublesome I was, and how he didn't know that he didn't know how Kiba put up with twenty four seven. I rolled my eyes and placed the money for my meal on the table.

Shikamaru followed in my footsteps, and I slid out of the table, leaving Kiba behind at the table to eat. But Shikamaru stayed with Kiba. I turned around and saw that, before shrugging and walking out of the store. Once I left the store, I realized that it was slightly chilly in the town. I sighed slightly and wrapped my arms around me as I walked through downtown. I continued walking until I was near the gates of Konoha. I glanced over where the guards were and noticed that they were both asleep. I rolled my eyes and turned from the gate, walking along some of the perimeter of the gate, before a voice knocked me out of my train of thought.

"What are you doing all the way out here, Kruno?" The voice asked, and I jumped slightly as I turned around quickly, only to be faced with Sasuke. I sighed slightly and shrugged my shoulders, looking down at my feet slowly.

"I don't know." I said with a shrug, and he walked over to me. He placed a finger under my chin, and tilted my head up at him.

"Kruno, what's wrong?" Sasuke said quietly, and I sighed slightly.

"I just feel like I'm not good enough to be on a ninja alongside of all of you. Especially you, Shikamaru, and Kiba." I said with a sigh, and Sasuke shook his head at me. Now, normally people wouldn't expect anything other than a 'hn' noise out of Sasuke, but with me, he was a person who I knew I could talk to, because he always had a lot to say to me.

"You shut your mouth Kruno. You have always been an amazing Kunoichi. You were above all three of us in the academy scores when you were here for one day. You shouldn't ever think that you're not good enough to be around us, because you're so much better than us." He said very monotone. I nodded my head slightly before I wrapped my arms around Sasuke tightly, sighing softly as I closed my eyes and his arms wrapped around me. He lifted me off the ground, and we walked back to the town. Usually, I would fight back against Sasuke because I hate being carried, but I figured that I would just let him do this.

Sasuke carried me all the way home, and he even carried me into my bed since no one in my house was home. He laid me down on the bed, and ruffled my hair before telling me that he would see me tomorrow. I nodded as he left, before I sat up and began to undress myself. This was the first time in a really long time that I actually looked at myself in the mirror in my room. My stomach was covered in scars from where he had used me for his experiments. My legs had burns marks that ran all over them, and parts of my arms had cuts that were still in the process of healing. But, the cuts were on my upper arm so my shirt covered them. All of the marks that littered my body were ones I could hide with clothing. I shook my head and got dressed in pair of Capri style pants before I realized that I didn't have another shirt to sleep in. I mentally cursed myself before I slipped out of my room, and into Kiba's.

I walked into Kiba's room in nothing but a sports bra, and quickly got into his closet. I grabbed a shirt that would be huge on me, but honestly I didn't care. I slid the shirt on before I looked around Kiba's room, and a smile formed on my lips. It had hardly changed from the last time that I was here. I walked around the room, and stopped as I came across a picture in a beautiful frame.

The picture was of me, Kiba, and mom. Mom was standing behind us, with her hands other either of our heads, and she looked really happy with a smile that spread from ear to ear. Kiba and I were standing beside each other, and honestly it was sort of difficult to tell who was who. But, Kiba and I were holding hands, and smiling just as bright as our mother. I picked up the frame, and looked at the picture with a smile, running my fingers along the piece of paper that held so many memories.

"That's my favorite picture of the three of us. Even though it's one of the only pictures of all of us..." Kiba's voice trailed off, and I turned around to him, smiling at the boy behind me. He had his arm behind his head, scratching it slightly, a lopsided grin on his face. I nodded slightly as I looked down at the picture.

"It's one of my favorites too." I said, nodding my head as I placed it back on Kiba's bedstand. I walked over to him, and wrapped my arms tightly around his built frame. His arms wrapped around me immediately, and he held me close. Kiba and I were not ones to share a lot of cute sibling moments, but when we did, you could really tell that we care about each other.

"Do you want to play a game of Shogi?" He asked, looking down at me as I quickly looked up at him, very excited.

"Do you still have my board?!" I said loudly, and when Kiba nodded, I started to shake my head very quickly. He chuckled and walked over to his closet, getting out the very dusty game board with all the pieces on it. I started to giggle like the little girl I was when he sat it down on the ground. Kiba knew what he was getting himself into offering to play Shogi with me, but I don't think he really minded. That made me feel really good.

                /////

The next few days were spent doing stupid small mission with Asuma. Such as grocery shopping, babysitting, and helping clean, I was bored. We had just finished doing grocery shopping for the rest of the people that we were assigned to help. Asuma smiled and told us we were going out for BBQ. Choji and I jumped for joy, while Ino and Shikamaru just nodded.

We made our way to the BBQ shop, and started to order food. Choji and I ordered the most food, and Asuma-Sensei looked at us like we were crazy... probably because he was paying for everything. This just made me giggle, and I start to chow down on my food.

"So, the Chunin exams are coming up, and I suggested all four of you for the exams. Here are your forms. Fill them out and bring them to the academy in three days. Now, it is the choice of the person to take the test or not, but if one of you doesn't take it, none of you can." Asuma explained, and Shikamaru groaned loudly, throwing his head back, mumbling about what a drag it was.

We all took the paper and smiled, thanking Asuma-sensei for the food before we all took off downtown. Shikamaru and I walked down the street, looking at the exam papers. "Are you going to take it?" Shikamaru asked, and I nodded my head slowly.

"You have too. If you don't, I'll kill your ass myself!" I said with a chuckle, before I started to hear a small child scream. I looked in the direction that the scream came from, before leaping from the ground and moving towards the noise. When I got there, I saw a small boy being lifted from the ground by a guy in a soild black outfit with cat ears on it... wait.

                Is that Kankuro?

I jumped down on thr ground, and looked up at him. "Put the boy down, or I will kill you." I said with an innocent smile, and he dropped the boy before he looked at me. His eyes widen slightly, before he looked at me.

"Kruno?" He asked, before a pebble was thrown at him. Kankuro glanced over at the tree, and there was Sasuke, tossing a stone up and down in his hand.

"Leave them alone." Sasuke said coldly, and Kankuro looked up at him, and I could tell he was getting more pissed by the moment. It was now that I decided to leave, because I knew that Kankuro could get very mad, very easy. And I did not want to be around that when it happened. I quickly moved my feet, and leaped off the ground onto the fence by the tree Sasuke was on. That's when I saw a certain red head boy that looked sort of like a panda, and I couldn't help but smile...

Oh how fun these Chunin exams will be.
