RUN BOY RUN

(Y/N) Hargreeves

I SUGGESTED FIVE THAT we should just tell our siblings about the end of the world, but he refused to tell them because he wouldn't even believe him in the first place like what Vanya did. And he thought that they'd be a burden.

Apparently, Five couldn't endure his somnolent self and too fell asleep which added additionally hours to my rest. "What are you talking about? I don't snore." Five denies raising a brow.

"That wasn't what I saw last night at Vanya's place."

"I only snore when I'm extremely tired." He explains putting his hands in his pockets back to his rigid pose. "I mean, you're always tired." I added.

"Yeah, tired of your bullshit." He retorted mercilessly.

Five and I arrived at the MeriTech. Somewhere on the highest floor, he stood expecting for someone to entertain us while I sat on the vacant seat they have because I'm tired of carrying this ass all the time.

Five clutches on the eyeball, looking around the prosthetic lab as he waits, getting impatient.

"Uh, can I help you?" One doctor came out of the workroom to find us sticking around. I moved out of my seat to be next to Five. "I need to know who this belongs to." He shows the eye.

"Where did you get that?" The professional looked cautious, so we had to make up a believable lie.

"Why do you care?" Five comebacks as I shot him a deadly look because it might reduce the chances of us finding the owner and would only raise dubitation.

"W-We found it in the playground, kids were playing with it." I pretended to be worried. "Uh, must have just..." Five clicks his tongue as the sound effect of something popping. "... popped out."

"And I want to give it back to the rightful owner." Five explains while both of us smiled innocently at the man in hopes we might fool him with our intentions. "Oh... What a thoughtful young man." The woman from the reception desk commented and awed at the sight of us.

"Yeah. Look up the name for me, will ya?" Five says rudely, slightly pissed off, I knew how much he hated being called 'young man'. I nudged his shoulder and reminded him he should keep his cool before they kick us out. "Uh, I'm sorry, but patient records are strictly confidential. That means I can't tell you--"

"Yeah, I know what it means, idiot."

The man was taken aback by Five's impolite remarks. He explains that the only thing he can do was to take the eye off our hands and then return it to the owner which was clearly not what we planned.

"Yeah, you're not touching this eye."

"Now you listen here, young man—"

'Ah, shit. Here we go again.'

"No! You listen to me, asshole. I've come a long way for this, through some shit your pea brain couldn't even comprehend, so just give the information we need, and we'll be on our merry way." Five expresses his anger to words, clearly wearied of everything he has been through and unable to contain them within his chest. "And if you call me 'young man' one more time, I'm gonna put your head through that damn wall."

"Five, I think we should go." I tugged on his sleeves, just like I always did when we were kids whenever he was going to start a fuss about something.

"Call security." He squawks at the secretary, afraid of Five's deadly warning. I saw the woman dials a number.

He pushes him off harshly, aggrieved of the ending we least expected to have. "Come on. We'll deal with him later."

We walked in the elevator, Five's eyebrows were furrowed and his lips were in a frown. "What now?" He sneered as the door closes. Then suddenly a plan came to me. "I just had a genius idea. You know what it is?"

"I don't have time for your stupid games. Spit it out, doll."

"What if we ask one of our siblings to pretend to be our dad? Since we need an adult to make us have more chances and access."

"Like who?"

"Well, Luther is busy flirting with Allison and Diego is a douche. Then we are left with one guy."

"No. I don't even want to waste my saliva talking to that filthy drug—"

"Klaus! keep your voice down! She'll hear you!" Five warns as cluttering of the things inside in his closet developed when he came out.

"I'm moist."

"And we don't wanna know where," I commented. Five puts his hands in his pockets and points to his outfit. "I told you to put on something professional. "But this is my nicest outfit." He specified, his eyes looking gloomy, offended by Five's assertion.

"Yeah, you look like a retired rockstar." I examined his look and yep, it looks hideous. "You guys are mean! And (Y/N) you were never like that, did being with Five influence you to become an old woman too?!" He pouts as I let out a scoff. "Let's go to the old man's closet to find something more appropriate." I sighed as both of them got out.

"As long as I get paid." Klaus squeals.

"When the job is done." Five reminds him.

"Okay, but just so we're clear on the finer details, I just gotta go into this place and pretend to be your dear old dad, correct?"

"Yeah. Something like that." Five answers him for the third time of questioning. "But like, what's our cover story?" Klaus inconspicuous imploring that idea of his.

"A what?"

"I mean, was I really young when I had you? Like, 16? Like, young and... terribly misguided?"

"Sure."

"Your mother, that slut. Whoever she was. We met at..."

"The disco." I finished his sentence since he was taking too long to come up with something.

"... At the disco." Klaus snaps, followed by a chuckle. "Okay? Remember that." Five just nodded boredly not taking his suggestions and story seriously since it was irrelevant. "Oh my God, the sex was ama-a-azing." Klaus cheers, snapping his fingers. "What disturbing glimpse into that thing you called a brain."

"Ooh, and (Y/N) can be your little girlfriend cause ever since your mother left you with me, you were horribly lonely and wanted some company during the night so I let you have a girlfriend even though you guys were so noisy and kept banging—"

"Okay, enough of that Klaus." I intervene in his imagination sharing.

"I know right they make such a cute couple!— See, even Ben agrees with me." He turned around, talking to the air. "Hey, Ben," I said, even though it was hard to believe Klaus that he was seeing Ben right now bearing in mind that he's kinda a coo-coo.

"He says 'hello' and is looking forward to your relationship in the future."

"Ugh, whatever." Five jogs down the room, completely ignoring Klaus. "Hey! Don't make me put you in time-out!"

But before I join them, I went back inside Five's room to get my jacket that Vanya returned since I left it at her place.

I noticed something from around the corner. I narrowed my eyes as I came closer to the shiny item by Five's shelf. It was our Friendship ring. I used to visit his room to organize his things, and this wasn't here before, I'm sure.

But I didn't think too much about it and wore it since Five never really puts it on for himself. I lost my ring somewhere in the Griddy's donut fight, I only learned when we got to Vanya's place. Hopefully, it doesn't end with the police officer's hands.

"Well, we don't get consent if you don't give us a name." Five argues as he slammed his hands on the desk, looking as if he was ready to tear him apart while Klaus looked like a depressed dad who regretted his life choices. I stood behind Five, just watching everything flow. The whole time they were only arguing and gesticulating frantically. This is the second time we went there but with 'dad' to back us up.

'Well, that's not my problem. There's nothing more I can do so--"

"And what about my consent?"

I shifted my gaze at Klaus. 'That's fucking genius.'

"Who gave you permission to lay your hands on me and my son?" Klaus weeps as he points at Five, but his actual intentions were to tap my elbow asking to do something. "Oh, you heard me." He prompted, glancing at me and then to Five.

"How dare you lay your hands on my loving boyfriend!" I shrieked dramatically once I realize Klaus's schemes.

The two other men simultaneously replied with a "What?" It is either Five was confused for me calling him my boyfriend or the part of 'laying hands'.

"I didn't touch your boyfriend—"

"Well, how did he get that swollen lip then?" Klaus sounding brittle because of sobbing too much.

"He doesn't have a swollen lip."

"Yes, he does," I said firmly with a sad smile. I gave a solid punch on Five's face, which sent it flying from the impact I gave. "That's for leaving the toilet, sit up!" I wept fakely as he grunts from the unexpected pain. I tried to show no empathy for him as he wipes the blood off his lips.

"Hey what's the big idea?!" Five whisper screams at me while Klaus was busy debating with the doctor.

"You people are crazy."

Klaus inhales sharply and loosens his hand to rest it above the table, eyeing intensely the middle-aged man. "You got no idea." He chuckles as he grabs a snow globe with the earth inside of it. "'Peace on Earth'. That's so sweet!" Unexpectedly, he bangs it to his head, which left all of us shocked. I flinched at pieces of glass that were thrown off.

Klaus groans as his face were drenched with the liquid inside and his blood. "God, that hurt!" He yells while his face glittered he got from the object. The man reaches for the phone, seeking to call security.

I stripped the phone off his hand. "Help, please! There has been an a-assault in Mr. Big's office, and we need someone up here right now!" I tried my best to make my voice tremble to make the situation believable. I put the phone back to its receiver as I gave a huge grin to him.

"Now, here's what's gonna happen, Grant," Klaus said sounding fervent.

"It's Lance." He corrects while shuddering in fear.

"Two security guards are gonna burst through that door, and they're gonna see a whole lot of blood, and they're gonna wonder, 'what the hell happened'? And we're gonna tell that you... beat the shit out of us."

"You're gonna do great in prison, Grant. Trust me, I've been there. A little piece of chicken like you. Oh, my God, you're gonna get passed around like a..." Klaus did a twirling motion with his hips. "You know what?--You're gonna do great. That's all I'm saying."

"Jesus, you are a real sick bastard," Lance replies cautiously.

"Thank you," Klaus replies with a lower register as if was the best compliment he had ever received in his life as he spits out a piece of glass that was inside his mouth.

"Well, I guess it wasn't a bad idea." He mumbles under his breath, eyes downcast, and looks up with a witty smile, slowly changing moods as it unveils that Klaus's plan worked.

The man had no choice but just to follow our wish. He leads us into a room where files were stored. But to our surprise, it hasn't been purchased by anyone yet. The serial numbers tell that it hasn't been even manufactured yet, leaving all of us dispirited especially for Klaus, who smacked his head on a snow globe.

"Well, this is not good." Five sighs as we head out of the building, dejected. "No shit," I added. "I was pretty good, though, right? 'Yeah. What about my consent, bitch?' (Y/N)'s punch was hella strong. WABAM!" Klaus said, punching through the air as I tried not to snicker since I Five was slowly getting infuriated.

"Klaus it doesn't matter!"

"What? What's the big deal with this eye, anyway?"

"There is someone out there who's going to lose an eye in the next seven days. They're gonna bring about the end of life on this earth as we know it."

Klaus only licked his cheek at Five's revelation about the end of the world. "Yeah, can I get that 20 bucks, like, now, or what?" He claims while I gawked at his sight. "Are you seriously asking for your money right now?" I rebuked at him, he wasn't the Klaus I used to know.

"Your 20 bucks? The apocalypse  is coming and all you can think about is getting high?!" Five yells scrunching his nose out of aggravation.

"We had a deal! (Y/N) come on, help me out here." Klaus grieves as he elongates his neck to confront me behind Five. "I would give them to you but you will 101% sure will spend it on crack."

"Well, I'm also quite hungry." Klaus makes a weird growling sound, making a joke at this situation we're in made Five even more inflamed as it stamped how futile our sibling was.

Five looked at him with a disbelief expression thinking why his brother grew up to be this wrecked and thoughtless. "You're useless. You're all useless!" He screams as frustration rise within him, not knowing what to do. He sits down on the staircase, worn out from everything.

"Oh, come on! Cheer up, old man—I've just now realized why you're so uptight. You must be horny as hell." Klaus laughs as I positioned beside Five.

He gasps. "Maybe that's why you brought our dear (Y/N) along! Why don't you guys get a room? You guys are technically adults too. Okay, trust me, I've been to this place, I'll check you guys out on this hotel nearby and you could like—you know—pop the ch—"

"Shut up!" Five and I roared at the same time, before letting him finish his nonsense. My cheeks heating up. And I swear, I've seen his glow red too.

"Jesus, Klaus. You need Jesus. We're literally just friends." I curled my lips sarcastically.

"I mean, we are adopted. What about what (Y/N) said to Grant? Aren't you guys dating since we were like, I don't know—13?" He scratches the back of his sheepishly, giving us a confused look.

"I beg your pardon?"

"Excuse me?"

Five and I exclaimed in unison. "She's not my girlfriend! And I don't intend her to be!" Five looks at me fiercely eyes, meaning what he said. "Right back at ya' champ. I'm literally good on my own."

"You just woke up from a coma (Y/N) I refuse to believe that you're okay. And then you Five! All those years by yourself. It's gotta screw with your head being alone." Klaus chortles taking the spot at the other side of Five, leaning back.

'Well... I wasn't alone."

"Oh? Pray tell."

"Her name was Delores. We were together for over 16 years."

"16 years? Oh, wow!" Klaus's eyes widen in surprise as I pretended to get distracted by something else because I couldn't expose my devastated face. It felt like a churn in my stomach and someone squeezing on my chest, knowing that Five spent those years with someone else. I felt like it was torture to even listen to their conversation.

I did my best to divert my gaze and ears. Soon Klaus opened up about the longest time he had a relationship with someone.

And then, out of the blue, Five takes hold of my hand. Without warning, he teleported us to a taxi that just passed by the building. "Don't stop. Just keep going." He directed the frightened driver.

"I've told you a million times to remind me first before doing that stupid spatial jump of yours! God, I'm starting to get migraines cause of you."

"I mean, was the punch really necessary?" He said in defense as he looks out to give Klaus a farewell salutation as he tried to chase us, yowling about his pay.

"I did it for diversion! Besides, you deserve that punch after leaving without saying goodbye and for escaping our hungry brother."

"And with that, you gave your dear 'lovely boyfriend' a swollen lip." He answers with a contemptuous smile before looking at his faint reflection on the car's window. I crossed my arms in denial.

Then a pizza store pops into view as the vehicle stops at the red light. "What d'ya' say about pizza for lunch?" I asked my eyes sparkled, sticking to the bright and dry colors of the shop.

Five slanted his body against my back to get a good look at the store. He only gave a sigh as an answer as he gets his chin off my shoulder. "Dude c'mon! I mean, we have to do something about that lip of yours too, you know." I proclaimed, tapping his lips while he slaps my hand. "What does have to with anything?"

"We could get some ice for it. My treat, old man." I pursed my mouth.

"Fine." He gives in. Both of us got out of the car, the driver didn't even dare to ask for the payment for we are the most unusual kids he took as passengers.
