Revealed Truths
"If my best pal wasn't still recovering, you'd be in for a world of hurt buddy," Miruko threatened as she chased Vulture down the street.
"Oh really?" Vulture responded as he ducked down an alley. "Says something about your skills, now doesn't it?" He suddenly gets knocked back a few feet as Miruko jumps into his back.
"You were saying?" Vulture winces slightly as he stands up and faces the white-eared heroine.
"You're strong, I'll give you that," Vulture wipes his chin as he responds. "But can you fly?" He spreads his wings and takes off into the air. He looks down with a smirk, but is soon knocked down as Miruko bounces up and slams him down with her leg.
"I may not be able to fly," she replies after landing. "But I can jump that high." She walks over to the trash pile that Vulture landed on and crouches next to him.
"Now," she grabs him by the collar. "Let's get you to the station, ya?" Vulture groans as he gets picked up; the movement causing his mask to slip to reveal a bit of his face.
Immediately recognizing his features, Miruko drops him in disbelief.
"But how?" she jumps back, giving the winged villain room to get up. "You said you were still recovering. Why..?"
"You wouldn't understand, Miruko," Vulture replied, readjusting his mask. "I have a wound that can never heal." He turns from her. "And this was the fastest way for me to be released from it."
"...Did you lose someone close?" Vulture turns his head and glances at Miruko with a painfully sad look that causes her to tear up. "Oh, Keigo, I'm so sorry.." She starts to reach for him, but Vulture slaps her hand away.
"I'm not Keigo," he replies with a glare. "I am Vulture, and I don't need your sympathy." He then takes off and zips through the alleyways to make sure Miruko doesn't follow.
Miruko stands there at a loss for words before hearing backup arriving. She exits the alleyway and reports that he managed to escape. She looks back towards the direction that he disappeared.
'What have you done to yourself? You really must be in a lot of pain to completely switch sides like this.'
On the opposite side of the city, a low, run down bar has the news playing on the TV. The newscasters are yet again covering Vulture's terror.
"Wow," a rugged looking man comments. "Vulture really is doing a number on the city isn't he?"
"Yeah," a man with a cheetah-like appearance agrees. "I certainly don't want to get on his bad side." He takes a swig of his drink. "Although, I can't help but get the feeling that he's destroying himself, or at least attempting to."
"I agree. All of these crimes this close together? He's looking for an early grave."
A man sitting at the bar over hears their conversation. His grip tightens a little bit on his glass.
"You know who he is, don't you?" the bartender asks without looking up. The man nods.
"It's my fault he's acting like this," he releases the glass and clenches his fist.
"Then, go to him." The man looks up at the bartender and nods. He hands him a 20 and puts his hood up.
"Thanks," he says as he stands up. "For everything." He then turns and walks out.
