Loren and Kira
"CONFIRMED. Jayla Pearson is pregnant with a baby girl! The Queen of pop was spotted coming in to L.A.X with a very noticeable baby bump. The question is, is it Brian's or Michael's? Jayla, long time boyfriend Brian, and Michael Jackson are headed to Jayla's brother's funeral, you may remember her only brother, Keenan Pearson who disappeared in 1988-"
"Cut it off." I ask Brian as we sit on the plane to New York. Brian flips through channels rubbing my back to comfort me. My brother's body had been found in the LA river two weeks ago, and I was an emotional wreck. It was said he had been kidnapped and held in captivity for years until two weeks ago he had been killed. All this time, he was being hurt and kept against his will. I began to feel the tears fill my eyes and quickly wipe them away. I had to be strong for my mother. She sat across from me, with a stoic expression on her face. My assistant, Sasha sat beside her giving her comfort. Brian sat to my right, still rubbing my back and Michael sat behind me with his eyes closed. We were all in mourning in our own way while Brian was here for support. I lean back in my chair and place my hands on my stomach and begin rubbing it. My daughter was the only thing keeping me from losing my mind at this point.
I got up to go to the bathroom in the back room while everyone was sleeping. Afterwards, I found myself sitting on the bed crying alone. The door creaks open as I hear a friendly voice speak my name. "Jayla?" I slowly look up showing my red eyes and wet face. I was grieving and was not about to hide it, not even from Michael. He rushes and sits on the bed next to me. "Oh Jay, you shouldn't be in here crying alone like this." He says sympathetically. "I know. I know. I just don't want to cry in front of Mom. I lost a child, I know how she feels. I just want to be strong for her and my daughter." I say sniffling. "Sometime it's ok to let people know how you feel. It's never good to be alone when you're sad. Especially when you've got people around you that care about you." He says rubbing my arm. I could tell he was trying to keep a safe distance from me. Anytime he and I were together something happens, and with my boyfriend just behind the door, we couldn't take any chances. Michael goes in the bathroom and grabs more tissue for me, as I wipe my eyes of what seemed like unlimited tears. "You don't have to sit back here with me Mike." I say in between sniffs. "I'll sit back here as long as you need me." He responds, patting my back. I look at him and sigh deeply. "How are you always around when I need you? You're like my superman." He shrugs with a light smile. "I don't know. Everyone has somebody that their soul is connected with... I told you, our hearts have been connected since the beginning of time. I mean that." I nod my head. "You know I honestly am starting to believe that. You're always there for me, it's like you sense it. Thank you." I smile weakly. We go back to our seats as the plane begins to land.
The funeral gained extreme publicity for two reasons, Keenan was my brother and because Michael was there. Everyone wanted a picture of me crying, it was sickening. During the funeral I saw a woman with a little girl crying, I wondered who they were. I walked to the podium to speak on my brother as the mysterious woman and child watched. "The last time I saw Keenan I was 16, right before he moved to California. When you lose someone, you always think of the last thing you said to them. Keenan and I were extremely close to be siblings. You know, most siblings fight and argue, but not us." I smile lightly. "He gave me a necklace and told me to keep it, that way he'd always be with me." I hold on to my necklace. "The reason I'm even in this business is because of Keenan. If he hadn't taken me to the studio that night, who knows what we'd be doing right now." Tears began forming as I lightly wipe my eyes. "He was a selfless man who put everyone before himself. He never let go of his dream and he always inspires me to keep moving forward and push harder... The police gave me a note that he had written for me and planned to try and send out to me." I unfold the crinkled note.
"Dear Jay, this note is just to tell you I love you. I'm sorry, I know I haven't been around but you have to know I'm so proud of you and I knew you'd be successful. If I don't come around anymore, just remember that necklace I gave you keeps me with you. I love you sis. Your brother Keenan"
I wipe a loose tear. "I love you so much Keenan." I slowly step down from the podium to look at my brother one more time. He looked so different. He was 43, a year older than Michael so his hair was greyed, he had a heavier beard and his age lines were apparent. I missed him so much these past 18 years. I stroked his cold face and kissed his forehead.
As everyone filed out of the church doors I felt a hand tap my shoulder. "Excuse me." I hear a voice say softly. I turn to face the mysterious woman holding on to her young child's hand. "Yes." I respond. "Hi, I'm Keenan's girlfriend Loren. I had no clue you were his little sister." She smiles. "He always spoke of a sister all the time, he never said she was you!" I extend a hand out to Loren and give her a sweet smile. "Nice to meet you, I wish I would have known about you. Who is this beautiful young lady?" I say kneeling down to the child with a smile. "This is Kira. Keenan's daughter... She's four." Kira lets out a small smile before hiding behind her mother. "Well I would love to invite you two to dinner at my house so we can get to know each other better. As you can see, I'm expecting as well, so I could use some company." I giggle. "That would be very nice. Thank you." She nods.
I wince as my stomach begins to cramp. "Well I've got to go, it was great meeting you. I'll keep in touch." I force out a smile, waddling towards Brian. Brian gives me a puzzled look placing a hand on my stomach. "Everything alright?" Suddenly I feel a rush of water release...uh oh.
