Chapter 2: Quirk Assessment Test!

My eye twitched as I stared at myself in the mirror. "What's the matter?" Kurogiri asked. I frowned, eye twitching some more.

"This uniform is so not cute."

It doesn't suit me at all. I think it clashes mainly with my hair.

U.A.'s uniform consisted of a blue green skirt, white button up, gray blazer with blue green trim, and red tie.

Of course I wore it incorrectly in an attempt to make it look better on me.

Button up is untucked, skirts a little short, blazer is open and a size larger, and my tie hung loosely. I wore bike shorts underneath my skirt for easy mobility and wore my signature black boots. My unruly fire red hair is up in a ponytail as usual.

It looks better than formerly worn, but it still clashes with me.

So not cute.

Not cute at all.

"You look great. I mean you have the delinquent look going on, but it is a look that suits you best." I gave him a flat look. "Should've just ended with that first sentence Kurogiri." I stated.

"I apologize." Ugh. So formal. I took off the skirt and threw it to the side along with the blazer.

I was wearing shorts anyway, so I can't possibly get in trouble for stripping in here again.

I plucked my oversized black jacket off the bar and slipped it on. There. Much better.

Well, I should get going. "Hey, warp me there." I demanded. Before he could respond or do as I said, another voice interrupted. "No." Hm?

Tomura walked in from the back room, gloomy as ever.

Well, it's the norm. "Why not?" I asked curiously. He merely rolled his eyes. "There's a chance someone will see. Kurogiri is going to be known soon enough. And once he is, they'll wonder why a student has been seen with him. And then you're compromised."

Oh? So he's actually using that head of his. Thought it was decoration.

"Makes sense. Alright, I'll walk. Later!" I turned, holding my hand up in a goodbye gesture as I left the bar and headed for the train station.

It is a little disappointing that Kurogiri can't transport me places anymore, but it's not the end of the world. It's not like I've never used public transportation before. That's ridiculous.

But it was so convenient.

Oh well. Walking is good for people. And the fresh airs nice. Well, as fresh as city air can be at least.

I quickly walked to the station and hopped on a train. I sat down and pulled out my phone and some earbuds, deciding to listen to some music to make the trip quicker.

As I sat and bopped my head, I noticed a few people glancing at me.

I knew why. I wore U.A.'s uniform. U.A. is a well renowned school. Even I've heard of U.A. even when I was in Elementary School. There isn't a person in Japan, maybe even the world that doesn't know about U.A.

It's most famous for the number of Heroes that go Pro after graduation. Higher number than any other school in the region.

And here I am, attending. Never thought that would happen.

Once we reached my station, I hopped off and headed in the direction of the school.

I'm still a fifteen minute walk from school, but I can see it still. Damn that place is huge.

I wonder how much money they used to build it? How much is cleaning supplies? That's a lot of windows to be cleaned too. And with so many people and their unique Quirks, there's gotta be constant damage to the building they need to fix.

I wish I had money like that.

As soon as I passed the extremely large gate, I headed directly inside in search of my classroom.

In my letter it said my class is going to be 1-A for the Hero Course. Gotta make sure I'm even in the right department!

What kind of school has this many different departments?! It's so weird, yet kind of cool.

I wonder what kind of people will be in my class. Other then the Arcade, I haven't really interacted with people my own age in a long time.

Kurogiri kind of home schooled me. Well, not really home school, I learned in a bar. I mean I kind of live there. Well, used to.

They rented me an apartment not too far from it, just in case.

As I walked down the corridors, I spotted the extremely large door to my class. In front of it, staring in nervously is a small guy with green hair.

Awe he's shivering. So adorable.

I peeked in from behind to see a kid with glasses yelling at a guy with ash blonde hair.

Definitely Class President and the Delinquent.

I glanced at the other students who were watching. Oh, there are some good looking people in here.

I walked up closer and the guy in front of me finally noticed and jumped a bit, not realizing I was there.

I grinned at him a bit. "Scuse me." He jumped back out of my way like a frightened rabbit. A nervous one huh. Oh well.

Shrugging to myself, I strolled on inside and checked the seating chart up on the board. Let's see, Seat Eight, next to Sero Hanta and Asui Tsuyu. I sit behind Kaminari Denki and in front of Kirishima Eijirou.

Scanning the other names, I glanced back at the seats. My seat is empty and surrounded by people.

I guess that makes it easier to find.

Ignoring the delinquents shouts at the other two, I walked over to my seat.

Before sitting I glanced at my class and grinned, doing a two finger salute. "Yoshiko Kanon. Nice to meet you!" I said, plopping down in my seat.

The people around me grinned and proceeded to introduce themselves to me. "I'm Asui Tsuyu. Call me Tsu." The girl next to me said.

She kind of reminds me of a frog. Sero and Kaminari introduced themselves, as well as the guy behind me.

I turned in my seat and stared at his hair. "Is that your real hair color?" I asked curiously. It's not often I meet with another person with red hair.

He scratched the back of his head a bit. "No, I dyed it this summer." Kirishima explained.

Oh? "Well Red suits you. Matches your eyes." I grinned. He returned it and I turned my attention to the blonde in front of me, noticing the black mark in his hair.

"Is that natural or did you dye it?" I questioned next. He smiled lightly, still turned in his seat a bit. "It's dyed. Matches my Quirk." He informed me.

"Ooooh." I said in understanding.

The frog girl stared at me a bit. "You always say what's on your mind huh?" She asked.

I laughed and put a hand on the back of my head. "I do. Get's me in trouble a lot, so if I offend you, sorry!" I clapped my hands together in an apologetic gesture. They laughed a bit at that.

Before any of them could strike up any conversation, a rough voice cut through the air so suddenly. "Go somewhere else if you want to play at being friends."

Huh? Looking towards the door, behind the green haired kid and a girl with short brown hair, is a man who kind of looks homeless in a yellow sleeping bag.

"This is the Hero Course."

.

.

.

"Definitely homeless." I nodded, to which the people around me sweat dropped.

He unzipped his sleeping bag and stepped out of it. He's wearing a black long sleeve and black pants. A weird scarf is wrapped lazily around his neck.

The man has long, unkempt, black hair, a shadow of facial hair, and very tired looking eyes. "Kind of gloomy." I murmured to myself.

But there's something about him that's oddly familiar. What is it though?

"Okay, it took eight seconds before you were quiet. Time is limited. You kids are not rational enough." Huh?

Is he . . . our teacher? Aren't our teachers Heroes though? This guy is definitely homeless though.

Then again he does kind of look familiar. I'm pretty good at remembering Heroes.

I mean I kinda have to if I want to avoid them.

Man I don't know. Tomura would so make fun of me for not knowing. Good thing he's not here or I'd never hear the end of it.

The homeless man looked over our class from the door. "I'm your homeroom teacher, Aizawa Shota. Nice to meet you." He introduced, lacking enthusiasm. He does not look thrilled to be here.

At his claim the class let out a collective gasp of surprise. He reached into his sleeping bag and pulled out a blue and white uniform with red trim.

"It's kind of sudden, but put this on and go out onto the field." Eh? That doesn't look cute at all!

We all begrudgingly got up and grabbed the gym uniforms he brought, going into locker rooms to change.

I quickly stripped off my clothes, feeling some stares. I glanced around to see a couple girls staring. "What is it?" I asked.

The girl with brown hair and the pink one jumped and waved it off. "O-Oh nothing." Hm?

I don't really have the body to look at. I mean it's not bad, but, oh! The scars.

I chuckled a bit and slipped on the surprisingly comfortable gym uniform. "I got into a lot of fights in Junior High." I lied.

Well, kind of. They are mainly from fights.

There's only a few scars, not too noticeable unless you're looking for too long. I'm not at all bothered by it, they healed amazingly and turned into beautiful scars.

Tomura has much larger scars and in high numbers on his body. They didn't heal as nicely. And unlike him, my body isn't riddled with wounds.

So it's not something that bothers me.

"Eh? Really? Well they are kind of pretty." The pink girl said with a wide smile. I grinned, eyes lighting up. "Right?" We laughed a bit, making some of the others laugh.

Despite my lack of contact with people my age, it's just kind of natural to laugh along with people.

We all kind of introduced ourselves as we headed out, towards where Aizawa-Sensei told us to meet.

As we walked, I noticed the girl with short hair and plug like earlobes hang back a bit. I walked slower so we were side by side. I admired her ears.

"Those are pretty cool." I spoke, making her jump a bit.

A light blush made its way onto her face as she looked down. "Not really, but thanks." Oh? Oh? So cute!

I wrapped my arms around her neck from behind and leaned on her, making her stumble a bit. "So cute! Kyoka-Chan!" I cheered loudly.

"Hey! Yoshiko! Let go! We'll fall!" She shouted at me, which only made me laugh more.

Mina joined us, laughing as well and mimicking my actions, putting more weight on Kyoka. "Hey! Not you too Ashido!" We only laughed at her complaints.

"Yoshiko-San, Ashido-San, you're going to make her fall." Huh?

We looked over to Yaoyorozu Momo. Mina and I exchanged glances and released her, putting our hands behind our back as Kyoka stumbled. "Yeees~!" We chimed. Kyoka caught her breath. "Thank you Yaoyorozu."

"Hey, hey, Kanon-Chan! What do you think Aizawa-Sensei wants us to do?" Hm? Ah, invisible girl! Hagakure Tooru.

I looked up thoughtfully. "Probably something physical. Which should be fun! Maybe we'll fight!" I took a couple jabs at the air. "Or maybe a race?" I ran in place quickly for the effect. "Or maybe we'll play kickball. Ah, but I'm more of a dodgeball person." I spoke.

The girls all laughed at my antics. "I hope not. It's the first day afterall. Isn't there supposed to be an Entrance Ceremony?" Uraraka Ochako asked.

My shoulders sagged a bit. Eh? So boring. I'd rather play dodgeball.

We soon made it out and to the field, where the boys were at already.

Huh? How come they got dressed so fast? I stood next to Mina and Ochako as Aizawa-Sensei spoke. When he did I blinked.

"A Quirk assessment test?!" We all shouted.

A test?! A test?! A graded test?! Noooo! I suck at tests!

Well, I guess this is a physical objective. I'm good at physical work. But it being a test means it isn't going to be fun.

What a let down. Well, it's gotta be better than a written test. God knows I suck at that.

"What about the entrance ceremony? The orientation?" Ochako asked him. But his back remained turned to us.

"If you're going to become a Hero, you don't have time for such leisurely events. U.A.'s selling point is how unrestricted its school traditions are. That's also how the teachers run their classes. You kids have been doing these since Junior High too, right?"

Well I didn't really go to Junior High.

Aizawa-Sensei turned and held up what looked to be a phone but with a list of events you'd see in a physical fitness test.

"Physical fitness test where you weren't allowed to use your Quirks. The Country still uses averages taken from results from students not using their Quirks. It's not rational. Well, the Ministry of Education is procrastinating Bakugo, you finished at the top of the practical exam, right?" He looked over at the delinquent looking guy.

Eh? Eh?! The delinquent beat me?! Well I guess you can't really judge a book.

I mean I kind of looked like one when I got to school. Only because the uniforms aren't cute enough.

Such a pity really.

"In Junior High what was your best result for the softball throw?" Aizawa-Sensei questioned.

Softball? "Sixty-seven meters." Bakugo answered. "Then try doing it with your Quirk." Our Quirk?

Bakugo stood in the circle of the throwing field, away from us. What Quirk does he have? "You can do whatever you want as long as you stay in the circle. Hurry up. Give it all you've got."

I want to see what he can do. To do better than me in a fight against robots, he must be something else.

Bakugo stretched his arms a bit, softball still in his hand. "Then, well . . ." He got in position brought his arm up and back like a pitcher would. "DIE!" He shouted as he threw the ball with an explosion.

My eyes widened a bit at how far it went due to the explosion back up.

Die? "Pft!" Unable to keep in my laugh, I started laughing. This guy is funny!

Ochako's eye twitches as she looked at the guy. "He's a little scary." She stated. I put my hand to my eyes to try and see where the ball disappeared to and let out a whistle.

He's pretty good.

"Know your own maximum first." Aizawa-Sensei turned and showed us the phone screen. "This is the most rational way to form the foundation of a hero."

705.2 meters. That's kind of insane. The class started to get riled up with excitement.

This didn't go well with Aizawa-Sensei though. "'It looks fun' huh? You have three years to become a Hero. Will you have an attitude like that the whole time?"

Huh? What's with him? A smirk came across his face that made everyone jump in surprise. "All right. Whoever comes in last place in all eight tests will be judged to have no potential and will be punished by expulsion."

"HUH?!" Everyone shouted in disbelief.

Well then. This is unexpected. I didn't think schools could do something like this. Then again, this is U.A. The capital of producing Heroes.

Oh well. I have faith in my abilities. I'm not particularly worried. "We're free to do what we want about the circumstances of our students. Welcome to U.A.'s Hero Course!"

Ah. He has a creepy ass smile on his face. Is he a sadist? Must be. He looks like he's enjoying their panic and fear.

I wonder who's getting canned. "Last place will be expelled? But it's the first day of school! No, even if it wasn't the first day, this is too unfair!" Ochako protested.

Well, she's not wrong. It is kind of unfair after that exam we had to take.

"Natural disasters, big accidents, and selfish villains. Calamities whose time or place can't be predicted. Japan is covered with unfairness. Heroes are the ones who reverse those situations. If you wanted to go talk with your friends at Mickey D's after school, too bad. For the next three years, U.A. will do all it can to give you one hardship after another. Go beyond, Plus Ultra. Overcome it with all you've got."

Oh. Pretty speech he gave. I like it!

"Alright, demonstrations over. The real thing starts now." He led us to where the first test is.

The 50 meter dash. A machine that reads are time is at the end. This one two students went at a time. When my turn came up, I went with Ochako.

She touched her clothes and shoes. When she did that, her fingertips let out a soft pink glow. Must be to help her.

Hm. This may be a little tricky. Reaching into my shirt, I pulled out a necklace with a small yellow cube at the end.

Sensei gave me this so I could use my Quirk whenever.

"What's that Yoshiko?" Ochako asked curiously. I glanced at her and smirked, clenching the small cube in my fist.

In it contains an Electric Quirk that shocks upon usage. Sparks danced across my body and my body violently stiffened at the sensation. My hand clenched the cube tighter as it continued to shock me.

Ochako's eyes were wide. "Yoshiko! Are you okay?" She asked. Releasing the cube, I felt the energy absorbing into my body and straight into my muscles.

I grinned at her. "Yep. Just juicing up." I stated, getting into running position as sparks continued to jump across my skin.

She did the same, looking at me wearily, as were the others.

The machine signalled us to move and I dashed forward, cracking the ground where I launched from as I zoomed across the track and to the end with ease.

"4.01 seconds." The bot read. The ground from the start was definitely broken, but the path is relatively intact.

Ochako soon finished and jogged towards me. "Wow! What did you do?" She asked.

Kirishima, Kaminari, Mina, and Sero walked over to me. "Ah, well this is kind of like an extremely high voltage taser." I pointed to the cube on my necklace.

"It works with my Quirk: Kinetic Energy Absorption. Essentially my body takes any attack, any shock, any harm that's done to me and I can use that to enhance my muscles and senses." I explained.

"So if someone punches you . . ." Sero trailed off.

I smiled, nodding. "I take their hit and use it, combined with my own, and hit them back twice as hard." I confirmed.

Kaminari whistled a bit at that. "That's an amazing Quirk." Kirishima praised.

Ochako nodded in agreement. "But doesn't it hurt? To be hit or zapped?" Mina asked.

I laughed, scratching the back of my head. "Not really. I have a pretty strong body. I have a high tolerance for pain. Besides it really just feels like shots of adrenaline going through my body." I shrugged.

They were pretty impressed. I looked over at Ochako. "So what's your Quirk? I saw you touch your clothes and shoes, but didn't really see anything." I said.

She just smiled at me. "My Quirk is Zero Gravity. I can nullify the gravitational pull of any object I touch." She showed me the pads of her fingers.

Oh. "But if I go over capacity I get nauseous." She admitted, laughing nervously.

"But that's pretty cool." I grinned. From what I've seen so far; they all have interesting Quirks.

Like Class President over there has Engines in his calves, making him able to move fast. Tsuyu's Quirk is Frog, so she's basically a frog. I called that one! Totally counting it.

Mina secrets acid from her body, Aoyama shoots a giant laser from his belly button, Sero can shoot tape from his body, Ojiro has a tail that's strong and he can use it to jump pretty high into the air, Shoji has multiple arms that can produce hands, nose, ears, or even eyes at the ends, Tokoyami has a shadow living in him, Satou gets stronger when he eats sugar, and of course Bakugo has his explosions.

But . . . I glanced over at a couple other students. Kouda, Kaminari, Mineta, Todoroki, Yaoyorozu, and Midoriya.

I haven't seen their Quirks yet. Well it is only the first test. We'll see them soon enough.

The second test is grip strength. I still have plenty of electricity stored in my muscles, so I just took it and gripped tightly. 617 kilograms. Awesome!

Test three is the standing long jump. Did really good on that too with my enhanced leg muscles.

The repeated side steps I did awesome at, but I was definitely outshined by the tiny guy who was bouncing of the round hair follicles he plucked off his head.

Even I can't beat that.

The ball throw I did great at, but Ochako outshined us. Since the ball doesn't have any gravity, it just floated on. Aizawa-Sensei showed us the results which is infinity!

It is literally infinity.

And that's kind of cool.

I laughed and raised my hand in the air. "That's awesome Ochako! Infinity!" I cheered, still laughing. The only tests left are the long distance run, sit-ups, and seated toe touch. Easy peasy.

Midoriya stepped up to the plate, since he's the last one to do the ball throw. He's the shy boy from this morning.

I wonder what his Quirk is. I bet it's as adorable as he is!

Everyone watched as we waited for him to throw. "It doesn't look good for Midoriya if he continues like this." Class President boy said.

Ah, yeah he's not really coming on top on these tests. Well I'm sure he'll be fine. He made it to A Class after all. Right?

Bakugo looked over at him. "Huh? Of course not. He's a Quirkless small fry you know." Ah-ah. He sure has a mouth on him.

Glasses seemed surprised by Bakugo's claim. "Quirkless?! Are you not aware of what he did in the entrance exam?" Huh? What he did in the exam?

I glanced over at the shy boy. What did he do?

Midoriya drew his hand back, and for a split second, I felt the raw energy and even saw it course into his arm. Then it was gone.

Huh?

He threw it and it didn't go very far. Like right in front of him. "I erased your Quirk." What the?

We all turned to Aizawa-Sensei's, whose bandage like scarf moved about, his hair up, and his dark eyes are a bright red, and goggles were revealed around his neck.

My eyes widened and I stilled. I remember him now. "That entrance exam was definitely not rational enough. Even a kid like you was accepted."

"You erased my Quirk? Those goggles . . . I see! You can erase other people's Quirks with your Quirk just by looking at them. The Erasure Hero: Eraser Head!" Midoriya revealed, making the class stir.

They're not familiar with him. But I am. I've never met him face to face, but a couple times when I was on the run, he'd fight off any who were with me.

They were never fast enough to escape.

Since he doesn't recognize me it's safe to say he had no idea I was with any of those lowly thugs from the past.

"From what I can tell, you can't control your Quirk, can you?" He asked Midoriya, who instantly stiffened at his question. "Do you intend to become incapacitated again and have someone save you?" He questioned his student.

"Th-That's not my intention-" Aizawa-Sensei's bandage scarf shot out and wrapped around Midoriya, dragging him over to him.

"Whatever your intention, I'm saying that's what those around you will be forced to do. In the past, there was an oppressively passionate Hero who saved over a thousand people by himself and created a legend. Even if you have the same reckless valor, you'll just be decked and turn into a useless doll after saving one person. Midoriya Izuku. With your power, you can't become a Hero."

He's really laying into Midoriya. He doesn't like him.

But for it to be like this, Midoriya must have done something in the exam Aizawa-Sensei hated.

Just what did he do? What did he do to make Aizawa-Sensei say such cruel things?

Aizawa's bandages released Midoriya and wrapped back around his neck as his hair went back down as his eyes turned back to normal.

"I've returned your Quirk. You have two turns to throw the ball. Hurry up and get it over with." He walked away from Midoriya.

Geez. I'm a villain and even I think he's being cruel!

Midoriya stood, thinking. After a minute, pure determination crossed his face. He pulled back and went to throw. There! I feel it again. Raw energy. Except it's transferring to . . . a finger?

The hairs on my neck stood a bit. What is it? What's wrong with me? He's just throwing. So what's my deal?

What is he doing?

He threw the ball with ridiculous strength! The wind picked up and whipped wildly at the force he used and the ball soared far and high into the clear sky.

The class let out noises of surprise at his action.

My own eyes are wide with amazement and I glanced back over at Midoriya. Huh?

One finger is purple. He broke it.

What kind of monstrous strength breaks the users finger just by using it? That was pretty incredible.

"Sensei." Midoriya held up his arm. "I can still move." He's in pain. He broke his finger. Yet . . . A smile graced my lips.

This kid. He is something else.
