Brody's POV

After the exams were over I decided to go to the drama club today.

I participated in the acting exercises. “Oh yeah, Brody-kun. Have you heard that the drama club’s going to be in the school concours?” Yumi asks “I’m going to have the lead role this year!” She said “Can you help me with my part later?” She asks when a student came in “Yumi! Your mother collapsed!” She said “There was a call from the hospital!” She said “Huh…? Oh, er….What should I do…? We’re still” Yumi said “Want me to come with you?” I asked “Huh?! Oh, no, it’s okay....” Yumi said “I-I’m going!” She said and ran out of the room “The hospital? I wonder what happened?” The club president asks “I think we’re all too worried to get any more practice in….Let’s just call it a day!” He said and they all left, I was wondering if Yumi was okay so I decided to go to the hospital.

*At the Inaba Municipal hospital, Hallway*

 As I arrive I see Yumi talking to who I assume “Hey...what’s going on?!” Yumi asks “What is HE doing here?! Why are you here with him?!” She asks “You didn’t collapse?! You lied to me!” She said “I can’t believe this! Tell me what’s going on!” She said “...Yumi” Yumi’s mom said “He’s the one who collapsed, not me. But I knew you wouldn’t come if I told you that” she said “So yes, I did lie to you. I wanted you to see him” she said “Mom….Do you think I want anything to do with that man?” Yumi asks “No” Yumi’s mom said “I know you’ve suffered a lot. I feel responsible for what happened, too” She said “But you see….it was his last request” she said “...He doesn’t have much longer. That’s why he wanted to see you..” She said “S-so what? I don’t care if he lives or dies!” Yumi said “He’s a complete stranger! He’s not my father!” She said “Mom, you and I… He abandoned us both!” She said “And now what? Now that he’s on his deathbed, he expects us to forgive him?” She asks “Don’t give me that crap!” She said “....I’ve made up my mind. I’m going to stay by his side until he passes away” Yumi’s mother said “Letting him die all alone would be too cruel to think of…” she said “Are….are you stupid!? No….you’re not doing this!” Yumi said “Yumi….I’m sorry. But it’s what I want to do” Yumi’s mother said and then Yumi turned around “Th-then go ahead! It’s not my problem!” Yumi said and Yumi’s mother walked away.

“After all….I’ve been abandoned before….” Yumi said when she saw me and walked over to me “Wh-when did you get here?! Were you listening to me?” She asks “I did, sorry” I said “You...eavesdropping on people’s private conversations! You’re a real sicko..!” Yumi said ‘With how loud she was yelling anyone would hear her conversation’ Izanagi said dismissive “Mom didn’t collapse…” Yumi said “When I got to the hospital, it turned out that the person in bed is the man who used to be my father….” She said “....He abandoned my mother and me...about ten years ago” she said “He found another woman...He’s a dirty sleazebag” she said “And now he comes crawling back to his ‘daughter’ because he’s dying? Yeah, after getting dumped by his bimbo…” she said “Talk about shameless…” she said and sighs “This sucks so much..I’d forgotten him after all this time” she said “His name, his face, his very existence. I completely blocked him out!” She said “Even worse, Mom’s going to look after him until he kicks the bucket. She’s being stupid. How gullible can you get?!” She asks “HE left HER, understand? Now he’s a hand-me-down from the other woman who dumped him when he got sick” she said “They’re both pathetic…..!” She said, Yumi’s trembling with anger and I comfort her “Shut up! What do you know about me…?!” Yumi asks “I’m sorry…” She said “...I’m sorry. I’ve calmed down” she said “What are you even doing here?” She asks “All this...it must be hilarious to watch, huh..?” She asks.

*In some small way, I was able to help comfort Yumi

*I feel that my relationship with Yumi  has deepened slightly.

Once I got back home I decided to spend time with Dojima tonight, “I heard something at the station the other day…” Dojima said “About...Well..” He said “I heard you guys hang out at Junes pretty often” He said ‘Dojima’s probing stare hurts…’ I thought “Nothing wrong with that of course” Dojima said “The question is...Why do you make so many trips to and from the electronics department?” He asks and Nanako walked over to us “Daaaad…” Nanako said “Oh, er, this isn’t what you think. I’m not interrogating him…” Dojima said “It’s not fair. You’re always talking with big bro” Nanako said pouting “What…?” Dojima asks confused “I mean….Today, you’re home, but…” Nanako said looking down  “....I always talk with you” Dojima said “When is always?” Nanako asks frowning “I….” she said looking sad “I wanna….talk” she said and she rubs her eyes sleepily and Dojima sighs “It’s bedtime for you already” Dojima said “Go to sleep. I’ll play with you…..Next time” he said “....You promised” Nanako said reluctantly going to her room “When is always huh?” Dojima asks sad “I feel sorry for her” I said sadly and Dojima stayed silent “Truth is,I mostly left raising her up to my wife...her mother…” He said “So….I don’t really know how to approach her” He said “Plus….I’m not fit to be her family….” He said “Fit or not, you’re family” I said “...maybe you're right” Dojima said “You think  just being related by blood makes you ‘family’ ?” He asks and I shake my head no “I see” Dojima said.

*I feel I begin to grasp the worries Dojima carries inside him
