26 - Why Should I Hide?

Taehyung called Namjoon and informed what happened. He took Kookie home before the school ended so he'll not encounter any students. Kookie was somewhat relaxed after a while and Taehyung was so relieved to see that.

Kookie knows that he's been kind of stupid about this cause why should he feel ashamed, losing his memory was not his fault. It's just that he hates it when people pity him. And even though they had the purest intentions, the kids in his class was doing exactly that.

Kookie let Taehyung take him home because all he wanted now, was to be alone. His boyfriend was the only exception. Once they got home, Kookie went to straight to his room and Taehyung didn't bother him till dinner.

He made Kookie's favorite food and went to call him. They had their dinner in silence too. Taehyung was kind of getting worried about this but he didn't felt like pushing Kookie to talk either.

"I'll do the dishes." Kookie said as he got up from the table.

"No, that's ok. I'll do them. You... uhhh.... You should go to bed." Taehyung replied with a smile, relieved to finally hear Kookie's voice.

Kookie looked at Taehyung for few seconds before giving a slight nod. He walked back without saying anything else, making Taehyung sigh a bit. It was a damn long day. Oh how he hated Hoseok for what he's putting his baby through.

After cleaning the dishes and everything, Taehyung called Namjoon.

"Hi Tae, how's Kookie doing?"

"I don't really know, hyung. He hasn't said anything to me all day, except for offering to do the dishes." Taehyung answered with a sigh.

"Must be hard."

"I really hate Hoseok. How could he do such a thing?"

"Are you sure it's him though?"

"I'm sure hyung. I don't know how he heard about Kookie's condition but he's the only one who knew about it apart from us."

"I'm gonna have a talk with him tomorrow."

"But I don't know what good it will do, since the damage is already done."

"Will Kookie come to school tomorrow?"

"Honestly.... I don't know."

"He can take a leave if he wants but he'll have to face them anyway."

"He already went to sleep. I'll let you know in the morning, hyung. Good night."

"Good night Tae."

Taehyung was deep in thought for few minutes before getting up from the sofa and went to check on Kookie. Taehyung quietly opened the door to Kookie's room but to his surprise, Kookie was not in his room.

Taehyung then went to his own room, just to find Kookie sleeping in his bed. He sighed in content and went to the bathroom to have a wash and do his night routine, being as quiet as possible.

However, when he got on to the bed, Kookie quickly turned towards him and snuggled in to his chest. Taehyung was surprised cause he thought Kookie was already sleeping but hugged back the man nevertheless.

"I thought you were sleeping baby." Taehyung mumbled as he planted a soft kiss on to Kookie's head.

"Hmm...no, I was waiting for you." Kookie replied in a soft voice.

There was a silence for few minutes before Kookie spoke up.

"Tae..."

"Yeah...?"

"Why did Hoseok do that?"

Taehyung couldn't help but sigh. They both had an idea about Hoseok's intentions and both didn't want to say that. But Taehyung knows that's not what Kookie is asking.

"Namjoon hyung said that he'll have a talk with him. Whatever he has in his mind, it was very wrong of him to talk about another teacher like that. Specially with the students."

Kookie didn't reply. He couldn't understand how a person could do something like this to another person.

"And also, I'm gonna talk with him too. It was stupid of me to ignore him, I think it made him think he still has a chance. I'm gonna tell him about us." Taehyung said in a soft voice. "I'm sorry that this happened to you because of me."

"Everything happened to me because of you. It's because of you that I survived, that I found love and happiness. My world literary revolves around you, Tae." Kookie mumbled in a shy voice, making Taehyung chuckle a bit.

"Well, my would revolves around you too, baby." Taehyung gave another kiss to Kookie's forehead before tightening the hold around him.

"Will you go to school tomorrow? Namjoon hyung said you can take a leave if you want."

"What's the point? What about the next day? Or the one after that? And besides, I've done nothing wrong. So why should I hide?" Kookie asked with a huff and Taehyung cooed at that.

"Oh my baby!! That's the spirit, I'm so proud of you. Come here..." Taehyung pulled back from the embrace and started to give little pecks to every inch of Kookie he could reach.

Soon Kookie was giggling and squirming, and yelling him to stop. But did Taehyung stop? Of course he didn't. He stopped it only when he was exhausted and both of them were out of breathe due to laughing too much. Their arms and legs laid in a tangled mess on the bed as them both waited for their heart rate and breathing to return normal.

And that's how they eventually fell asleep.

Hoseok got called to Namjoon's office next day morning and Namjoon had a heavy talk with him. Hoseok maintained that he said it accidentally and that he was trying to look out for Kookie. Even though Namjoon knew he was lying, there wasn't anything he could do.

Hoseok was asked to apologise to Kookie but he didn't. And Kookie didn't want his apology too as he knew Hoseok doesn't mean it at all.

"You shouldn't apologise when you don't mean it, Mr Jung." Kookie said in an annoyed tone and Hoseok smirked at that.

"I'm glad we are agreeing on something Mr.. uhhh... I'm sorry, I don't know your surname. Oh wait! Neither do you." Hoseok spat venomously but Kookie only gave a soft laugh.

"I may not remember my own name but atleast I'm not ashamed of myself. I wonder how you look at the mirror everyday." Kookie's voice was gentle but what he said felt like a heave blow to Hoseok.

"Listen here you peace of shit! How dare-"

"That's enough, Hoseok!" Taehyung's voice rang through the empty classroom and both Kookie and Hoseok looked around at him in surprise, as neither of them haven't heard him coming in even.

Taehyung was fuming in anger. It was by chance that he came to meet Kookie at this moment and he was so shocked to hear what Hoseok was saying. He looked at Kookie to see how upset he is but Kookie gave him a reassuring smile.

"Kookie, baby can you give us a minute?" Taehyung asked and Kookie gave a nod before leaving the room.

Taehyung waited for few seconds to rein in his anger before speaking up.

"What are you doing, Hobi?" Taehyung's voice held such a disappointment and it angered Hoseok more than anything.

"I'm doing what's right, Tae. Something your brother should have done actually. You maybe blind by your infatuation with him but the rest of us are not!" Hoseok said angrily but Taehyung only scoffed at that.

"Oh please!! Don't pretend you're doing this for me. You're doing this only for yourself. I can't believe I ever considered someone this low to be my friend."

Hoseok saw stunned for a second at Taehyung's disgusted tone. Yes, he was looking out for himself too but that doesn't mean he didn't care about Taehyung. He genuinely did. And he honestly believed himself to be much more better for Taehyung than some random person with fucking amnesia.

"It was my right to choose what's best for my life and I choose him. And I'm so glad for that cause you have repeated showed me that it was, indeed, the right choice. He will always be a far better man than you will ever be, with or without his memory."

Taehyung looked at the man infront him who had a hurt look on his face but he didn't regret what he said. For people like Hoseok, who always put themselves above others, who thinks they're better than others, the truth needs to be laid down plainly like that.

Taehyung turned around to walk out of the room but stopped at the door as he got a sudden thought.

"And Hoseok, you don't need to worry about his surname for much longer. I will change it to 'Kim' as soon as I can."

With that Taehyung walked out of the room, leaving an angry but also heartbroken Hoseok behind.
