Reaper
Reaper was aware that they were different from the other Gods.
And they weren't just talking about their height, or their fluffy wings, and the fact that romantic relationships, weren't a thing for them....
But, they felt different.
They loved the way that they were.... Well, actually, she loved herself and the way that she was.
So, get with the freaking program Life, she wasn't a lesbian and she just didn't 'do' romantic relationships, and even if she did, she would never get together with Life.
Life, who tried to force her to drink coffee, to use the male pronouns, to be lazy and to use puns all of the time....
That was not who she was.
Reaper loved tea, and the tiny Reaper could often be found snacking on sweet things. Reaper loved to read, draw, write, listen to music, play video games, collect manga and plushies, and build models made out of tiny bricks. She was possibly on the autistic spectrum, and she had insomniac traits. She often stayed up late, and she slept in, a lot.
Reaper had a tolerance for socializing, and once it was used up, she would often retreat to somewhere quiet and recharge that tolerance, before she jumped back into the socializing.
Reaper was also known as a sweetheart, you tend to lose all fear of Death when you see one of them crying, because a child was mourning a beloved pet.
Reaper was so sweet and cute that you couldn't believe that the tiny Skeleton was a Death.
Or that she was the older sister.
But Reaper wasn't perfect.
There was times when Reaper would just zone out, staring at nothing, as she floated in the air, using her scythe as a seat. She would often have one sided conversations to thin air, and then she could pause, expecting an answer, but she wouldn't get one.
She occasionally forgot things, that were important, and not that important, her mouth would run away from her sometimes, and she would ramble and leap ahead, jumping to conclusions.
But if there was one habit of Reaper's that everyone agreed was cute, was her tenacity to use her scythe as a floating bed.
Somehow, Reaper had figured out how to attach a mattress to her scythe, that stayed in her subspace, until she needed it.
And when she did need it, she would summon it, before she laid down on the mattresses with a pillow and a blanket.
The scene of the tiny Death, wrapped up in a blanket, and hugging her pillow, while she was sleeping on a mattress, attached to her floating scythe, was so cute.
------
Reaper yawned as she woke up, rubbing at one of her eyes, like a cat, her hood was crooked and it flopped over her face.
"Papyyyyy! It's too early...."
Reaper yawned again, shuffling back underneath her blanket.
But there wasn't an answer from Papyrus. Reaper poked her head out of the blanket, she was still holding onto her pillow. "Papy?"
This wasn't the field that she had been taken a nap in, or the agreed meeting place.
Reaper blinked. "Papy?" She asked, hugging her pillow as she looked around.
"Papy?!" She squeaked when she realised that she couldn't see Papyrus anywhere. "Papyrus?!"
She was in some sort of garden, that was covered in flowers and fruits. The worst place for a Death to be....
Reaper whimpered, hugging her pillow. "Papy..."
Reaper floated around on her scythe bed for a while, hugging her pillow, while she looked for a way out, but this garden was huge, and she seemed to be going around in circles.
Reaper looked down at the ground below her, before a leaf fluttered onto her bed.
She picked it up, only for it to crumble to dust in her hands.
Reaper dropped the dust and she shivered, hugging her pillow tighter.
"Oh, are you lost?"
She turned around to see a female Goat, she kinda looked like Asgore, the King of the Gods.
He was nice, and he always had a kind word for Reaper, but this one....
Reaper couldn't feel any kindness coming from the female Goat.
This was how she met Life.
-----
Life looked at the tiny god that she had found sleeping in a field, it had been so easy to bring them to her garden.
It had to be a juvenile God, one that was too young to know about her, or her legend, due to their size....
And who would be stupid enough to leave a juvenile God on their own? She wouldn't, unless it was one of the older Deaths, because the Judge, Gaster, and that Papyrus, Painless, wasn't it, were just a waste of space and power.
There was nothing wrong with trying to overthrow Asgore so that she could take his place and rule over the Gods.
She didn't care that Gaster was the God of Magic too, and he only helped out with the Administration, because Life just wanted to win over Death....
And speaking of Death, Life had heard rumours about the elder Death, Reaper...
Life had always thought that Reaper was a lazy God, a coffee drinking pun user... And to be honest, she could actually see herself having a relationship, or a friendly banter, with Reaper. She was lonely, and she was separated from her husband, Asgore just didn't see things the way that she did....
But the rumours said that Reaper was different from the image that she had of the Death, and Life scoffed at this. She was Life, the Mother of all, and a Mother was always right.
She didn't believe the rumours about Reaper, because why would Death be a fluffy, short Skeleton? That wouldn't strike fear into anyone.
Death should be something that everyone should be scared of.
--------
Reaper looked up at the female Goat, she had a bad feeling about her and she clung to her pillow tightly.
"What's your name Little One?" The Goat asked. "My name is Life."
If Reaper had a human heart, it would have stopped when she heard the name of the female Goat.
This was Life, Asgore's ex.
Reaper shivered, she had to get out of here, she had heard the stories about Life, about what she had tried to do, and what she thought of Death...
Ahhh, what was she going to do?!
Her wings puffed up behind her, and the fluffy feathers straightened up as Reaper clung to her pillow.
"Death..." She whispered. "My name is Death."
Life was stunned, before she laughed, and the laugh made Reaper wince, because it hurt her ears.
"Death? Oh you silly thing, you should really just stop lying. You're not Death." Life laughed. "Death is someone who drinks coffee, makes puns, and he is a lazy God."
"But I don't like coffee!" Reaper protested. "And I am not a guy!"
Life frowned. "Don't be silly Child, if you was Death, you would be drinking Coffee, instead of napping in a field."
"But I am Death!" Reaper protested again, before Life hit her.
"SHUT UP!" The Goddess yelled, even as Reaper nearly fell off of her bed.
Reaper whimpered and she cradled her bruised arm close to her body, before she took a Shortcut, leaving Life's garden.
Life just growled and she went about her day. She would have words with whoever was in that of that young one, because that was extremely rude of them to leave, without a goodbye.
------
Reaper reappeared in a small wasteland, and she whimpered again, before she burst into tears. "PAPY!"
And several miles away, while he was in the process of reaping the last few Souls, a Papyrus tilted his head. "SANS?"
He quickly finished up the Souls that he was reaping, and he headed towards the crying.
He found his sibling, sobbing and holding her arm close to her body. "SANS?! WHAT HAPPENED?!" He quickly rushed over and he inspected the bruised bones, there was a slight crack in one of them, but other than that, the arm bones were only bruised.
"WHO DID THIS TO YOU, SISTER?"
Reaper just choked on a sob and she tightly hugged Papyrus, and the younger Death responded by wrapping his arms around her, rubbing her back.
------
Reaper clung to Papyrus's robe tightly as they entered the ballroom. She was scared.
Papyrus looked at his sister, she had changed since the day that she had been hit, and she wasn't even telling him who did it, even after the wound was healed.
It had been two weeks since it had happened.
He could feel her grip on his robe tighten when Life just walked pass them without a word, and he frowned.
Did Life hit his Sister?
He looked over at the Refreshment tables and he smiled when he saw Alphys. The Goddess of Knowledge liked Anime, like his Sister, she should know a way to cheer her up.
Papyrus could see Asgore on the other side of the ballroom, talking to War, he was trying to keep several Gods between him and his ex.
He soon reached Knowledge and he rattled his bones, causing her to turn around.
"Papyrus! Sans!" Knowledge was surprised to see both of them. "You two normally skip these parties."
Life just happened to be walking pass them with a drink and she did a spittake when she heard Knowledge speak.
"Hi Al...." Reaper didn't look at Knowledge.
"Reaper, what's wrong?" Knowledge didn't get to finish asking her questions, because Life had stormed over to them.
She put on her best smile once she had reached them. "Grim dear, it's such a pleasure to see you again." Her voice grated on their ears. "I do hope that your elusive Brother is here, it is rude that Death himself has never paid me a visit."
Papyrus frowned. "WHERE ARE YOU GETTING THIS INFORMATION FROM MISS LIFE?" He asked.
"The same place as you Dear." Life continued, but Papyrus could still feel the tight grip that his sister had on his robe. "Dear Feem, and how is she?"
"FEEM FADED A LONG TIME AGO MISS LIFE." Papyrus told her. "MORTALS SLOWLY STOPPED BELIEVING IN HER."
"Oh, that is such a shame." Life said. "Oh..."
Papyrus was not in the mood.
"MISS LIFE, APOLOGISE TO MY SISTER."
"... What..." Life began to ask.
"APOLOGISE TO MY SISTER." He growled out.
"Papyrus, don't be silly, is Sans having a gender crisis? It will soon go away."
Papyrus picked Reaper up and he placed her in front of him. Life recognised the tinier robed Skeleton. "MISS LIFE, THIS IS SANS, MY SISTER, WHO YOU HIT WHEN SHE TRIED TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH."
"Papy... I don't need an apology..." Reaper whispered.
"YES, YOU DO SISTER. YOU WERE LEFT WITH A SCAR FROM THE HIT."
The Gods around them gasped, and many of them glared at Life.
Many of them had believed Feem's rumours about the Death, until Gaster had brought both of the Deaths to a party, and the rumours soon died after that.
Especially when they met Reaper for the first time, because who could believe that something as fluffy as Reaper could be a Death?!
And she was the main Death as well!
"WELL, MISS LIFE?" Papyrus asked, with his Death aura spreading around him.
"I'm sorry..." Life growled out.
"I DO NOT CALL THAT AN APOLOGY!"
"Papy!" Reaper reached up and she patted her brother's elbow.
Her wings were all fluffed up, and she was frowning. "It's okay, I'm okay Papy! I'm fine!"
Papyrus looked down at his sister and he saw her lazy grin, and he couldn't help but to smile at her when he saw that grin...
-----
Papyrus could remember the times when Reaper would act like the older sibling, and if her mental and physical age had continued to develop, instead of freezing, she would have continued to be the older sibling...
He was crying, Father had suddenly left him alone to deal with something, and he was hungry.
Suddenly, his crib started to rattle, and he cried louder, something was coming to eat him!
He tried to hide, but he couldn't, and he watched in fear as something black moved towards him.
"Papyrus?"
Wait, that voice, that was the other voice that he could hear talking to Father! He looked up to met the soft eyesockets of another Skeleton, who was rattling their bones.
He rattled back, he was scared.
"Oh Papy."
The other skeleton picked him up, holding him close against their chest.
"It's okay, I'll chase away the monsters."
Papyrus remembered other times as well, but as he grew older, his Sister would have this imaginary friend...
Papyrus looked at Reaper when she tilted her head to the side.
"Who are you?" She asked, but she wasn't looking at him, she was looking at the top of the chest of drawers...
"I'm Fire! You can call me Firehedgehog. But no Hedgie please!" The small being that was made out of fire chirped happily, doing a small dance.
"Papy! There's a fire hedgehog here!" His sister cried, but...
"SANS... I CAN'T SEE ANYTHING..." And that was the honest truth. He couldn't see anything...
"What..." Reaper turned to look at the fire hedgehog.
"I'm special." Fire cheered happily.
"Special?" Reaper asked.
"Only certain people can see or hear me, that makes you special!" Fire explained.
"So, I can see you but Papy can't?" Reaper asked. "Is it a super secret special Death skill that I have?"
"Nah, it's not because you're a Death kiddo! It's because you're You!" Fire giggled.
"So, it's a special Reaper thing?"
"All you." She replied, smiling, but how a hedgehog that was made out of fire could smile was a mystery...
Reaper clapped her hands, smiling.
"By the way, have you ever tried.... Skittles?" Fire whispered ,holding a bright red package.
Reaper was curious, but something was telling her to stay away from the Skittles.
Papyrus looked at his sister, before he had an idea. "SANS! LET'S PLAY TAG!"
"Not that?" Fire asked. "I guess that I could share my moon chocolate."
"Moon chocolate?" Reaper asked, as she got up, floating over to the chest of drawers.
Fire grinned and she shoved a small foiled wrapped bar into Reaper's waiting hand, the wrapper was cream colored, with a purple crescent moon on it.
Papyrus was freaking out. "S-SANS?"
Reaper looked at the chocolate bar. "Is this for me?" She asked.
"Yup, you can eat it or share it." Fire said, she was happily nibbling on another bar.
"I can share it with Papy?!" She had Stars in her eyesockets.
"I said that it's your choice, now Love, I've got to go. Big sister Fire will teach you and Papy some fun games during my next visit." Fire said, and she vanished.
"Bye bye." Reaper said, before she floated over to Papyrus to share the chocolate.
That moment had been crazy, but the chocolate had been really good.
Papyrus smiled as Knowledge came over, holding something. "WHAT IS THAT AL?" He asked.
"It's something that the mortals call a cell phone." The Goddess of Knowledge pulled out a small black flip phone. "Asgore asked me to make a Godly version and I was wondering if you and Sans could try it out for me?" She handed the small phone to Reaper, before she pulled out another phone for Papyrus.
"ARE YOU SURE THAT'S SAFE?" He asked.
"Of course, it should be." Alphys said, before their conversion was interrupted by a beep.
They looked down to see that Reaper had already figured out how to turn the phone on and she was already playing one of the games on the phone.
She looked up at them, before she tilted her head to the side. "What? You haven't seen a Skeleton playing with their new toy before?" She asked.
