Letter: Dream of a Frightening Encounter

Dear Mr. Blathe,

Margaret will be back in a few days, so my repetitive diet will be much more varied although she has made a few more yam based dishes than I would prefer, but that is my fault of course. My diet has consisted of various lunch meat based sandwiches and canned vegetables. I used to be a very good cook, but I have lost a bit of my culinary imagination.

Now, I will tell you about my latest dream. This time I was a mouse, or that is my impression. I recall running along the baseboards of a dark interior. A loud roaring noise above my shook my bones! I looked up and saw a blurry shape. I am sure it was a person -- most likely a woman. My ears were already in pain from that roar when a huge crashing thing (glass?) shattered next to me. There was something wet that got all over me. I ran back along the wall and found myself a gap to squeeze into.

I was stuck and scared.

I waited for what I am sure was several minutes before I heard a soft sound. No -- not soft exactly. I kind of deep cyclic combination of a sigh and a hiccough. I have no other way to describe it.

That is all I remember before waking up.

Thank you,

Gary McNutt
