chapter 12
Harry Hook lounged on one of the old, creaky chairs in the Chip Shop, absentmindedly twirling his hook around his finger. The air smelled of fried food and salt, a familiar comfort on the Isle of the Lost. The dull murmur of voices filled the room as Reina and Uma stood nearby, talking quietly about some scheme. Harry was only half paying attention; his mind drifted to the usual chaos of the Isle and the inevitable trouble they would stir up next.
The door to the Chip Shop swung open with a loud creak, pulling Harry from his thoughts. He looked up to see Gil, bounding in with an almost uncontrollable excitement, his wide grin stretching across his face as he rushed towards them.
"Guess who I just ran into!" Gil blurted out, practically bouncing on his toes. His voice was loud enough to draw the attention of everyone nearby, but that was typical Gil—always eager, always too loud.
Uma glanced at him with a raised brow, clearly unimpressed. "Spit it out, Gil."
Gil grinned even wider, looking as if he was about to burst. "Ben. The king. He's on the Isle. And guess who he's got with him? Jay, Evie, and Carlos! I ran into them near the hideout."
Harry’s eyes immediately narrowed, and he straightened up in his chair, his hook now still. Evie? On the Isle again? What in the bloody hell was that blue bitchthinking? Coming back here was a death wish.
Reina, who had been leaning casually against the counter, suddenly perked up, her gaze sharpening as she exchanged a look with Uma. Her lips curled into a slow, dangerous smile. "Well, well, well," Reina drawled, stepping forward. "Seems like my dear sister has come back for a little visit. How convenient."
Harry could see the wheels turning in his girlfriend's head as her eyes flickered with wicked delight. Whatever she was thinking, it couldn’t be good for the king
"We need Ben," Reina said, her voice low and authoritative. "Harry, you tell the others to get Evie and Mal to the Chip Shop. We’ll need them here if we’re going to negotiate." She turned to Gil, who was still practically buzzing with excitement. "And you, Gil? You're going to kidnap Ben."
Gil blinked in confusion, clearly not understanding the full weight of what Reina had just ordered. "Wait, what? Kidnap him?"
"Yes," Reina replied coolly, her smile fading into something more calculating. "Take him to Uma’s ship. Put him in the cell. I’ll deal with the rest."
Gil hesitated for a moment, looking between Reina and Uma, but eventually nodded. "Okay. I can do that." He turned on his heel and dashed out of the Chip Shop with the same eagerness he had entered, leaving behind an air of uncertainty.
"Harry," Reina’s voice broke through his thoughts, pulling him back to the present. She stood before him, her gaze piercing. "You know what to do. Get Mal and Evie here. We’re going to make sure they know exactly what’s at stake."
Harry nodded, slipping out of the chair with ease, his eyes gleaming with anticipation. He relished the thought of cornering those goody-goody Auradonians and dragging them through the mud of the Isle. There was something satisfying about making them pay for daring to come back here.
Outside, the Isle was as grim and unforgiving as ever. The streets were dim, the air heavy with the familiar stench of decay and desperation. Harry’s boots crunched against the grime as he stalked through the narrow alleys, making his way toward the hideout where Mal and Evie were sure to be
as Harry made his way to the hideout he heard Evie and the boys calling out for Ben which told him that gil had done his part
"Ben!" Evie said as she sighed seeing Harry with his head down thinking he was Ben "Ben, don't scare us like that."
"Don't scare you? But that's my specialty" Harry said as he came into the light making them gasp
"Harry." Evie said as Jay spoke up
"What did you do with Ben?" Jay asked
"Oh, uh, we nicked him. Mm-hmm. Yeah. And if you want to see him again, you and Mal will come to the Chip Shoppe tonight. Alone. Reina wants a little visit." Harry said noticing how Evie tensed up at the mere mention of Reina the half sister she seemed to have forgot about while in boradon
This should be fun indeed.
