how did i end up working in this shitty convenient store that barely has customers and is only alive because of selling soju and instant ramen? only god knows.
here i was, 11.42pm, barely awake. my senses were already unreachable, my eyes already too heavy to open. even listening to the twicecoaster album couldn't keep me from falling asleep. my (manager's pet) coworker was off for a holiday and my manager wouldn't do anything but to keep his eyes on me and my will to keep this job. i'm not sure that i'd be able to convince him anymore.
it was not long until the someone bursted through the door, automatically embellishes my shocked body. i got up from my slumber, my eyes fluttering to the unusual sight.
turns out it was just one of those late night hopeless guys, dragging themselves to the nearest convenient store just to have a single sip of soju. what made him different was though in this kind of condition, it didn't fail him to look quite.. attractive.
he was wearing a black leather jacket and ripped jeans, his hair parted in the middle. he looked miserable, a tint of eyeliner smudged his pale face because of crying. his eyes were swollen and his lips was curled into an everlasting frown. he sloppily dragged himself to the refrigerator, shoving out two bottles of soju. "how much alcohol is in this?" he slurred.
"it's written there."
"you think i could read in the time like this?"
"you think i know?" i snapped back. "of course, i could assure you that it's enough to knock off drunk, depressed boys."
he sniggered mischievously. "talk about customer service."
"i'm not serving drunkards like you."
"i'm not drunk.." he pouted his lips. "yet."
"you couldn't read when you're sober, god knows what happens when you're drunk." the brunet walks towards the hopeless cashier to pay his needs. "rough day?"
"what makes you say that?"
"well, for a man who looks as if he normally couldn't take more than 2 sips of alcohol but now takes 2 bottles instead, you look.. desperate."
"am i?" he leered. "yes, it's been a very rough day." the boy said shortly, but does not elaborate.
i paused. he didn't look bad as he seemed, i guess. and what i've been examining, he is one fine piece of specimen and perhaps not as vexatious as i thought. "what'd you say.." i started, "if i take you to the delectable, 24 hour japanese restaurant next door? i'll pay."
"you're asking out an impetuous drunkard for a fancy dinner at 12am?"
"not yet drunk," i corrected, "and this ain't fancy. it's actually pretty affordable."
"you're not on shift?"
i wheezed. "like i care." i took off my bright hat that was apart of the job's uniform. "they barely pay me anyway."
he sighed lightly. "alrighty then," his gaze devoured my senses. "but as long the soju's on me."
