Snowed in

Next chapter as I promised. This ones better.

Millie's POV

It's been a couple days. It's Friday night, and a couple of us decided to hang out. Just a little fire at Sadie's. It's Sadie, Finn, Caleb Sophia and I.

I can't help to look at Finn from across the fire. His bruise is basically gone. Which is weird, because it was really really bad.

The snow picked up, so we ended up running inside, and just talking. It was getting late, though. Around 11:00.

"I'm probably gonna go, it's getting late." I said, and everyone else agreed. But Sophia was staying over, so I guess just Finn Caleb and I. We said bye, and walked out the door.

"Finn." I said, and he turned around and looked at me. Why do his eyes look like that? Are they even brown? They're definitely black.

"Come over." I said, and he nodded. I wanted to spend a little time with him, atleast.

He drove me there, so we both drove back. We said bye to Caleb, and drove off.

"And why am I coming over this late?" He asked, and i held back a tiny laugh.

"Cause I'm bored, and I just wanna talk." I said, and he nodded. We eventually got to my house and he pulled into the driveway. My mom is askeep by now, and so is Ava. If Ava isn't asleep, I wouldn't be surprised. She stays up on tiktok.

We opened the door quietly, and took off our shoes. We quietly tried to make it to the stairs, but Ava was sitting on the couch, watching us.

"Hello Finn." She said, and Finn jumped out of surprise.

"Hi Ava." He said, not knowing what to do.

"Ava we're going upstairs. Don't bother us." I said, and she nodded. She doesn't tell my mom things. I don't snitch on her, she doesn't snitch on me. Simple as that.

Finn has never been in my room. Shit, did I clean it?

We walked in, and I shut the door. I turned on the lamp by the desk, and he looked around. God, my room is actually depressing when you look at it. Walls are grey, there are some dark drawings and paintings on them, with notes everywhere. The only cute part about it is my desk. I have pictures with all of us, and sunsets. Finns eyes were attracted to the desk. I jumped onto my bed, and sighed.

"Your room is...unique." He said, and I nodded, laughing a bit. His hair looks nice today. It's all curly, all over the place. I love his curls. He sat down next to me, making my heart race. Why is it racing? I think I'm just nervous. He intimidates me.

"So... what did you want to talk about?" He asked, and I shrugged and looked over to him. He raised his eyebrows at me, and managed to smile a tiny bit.

"Seriously I don't know. Oh, while you're here, you can take your sweatshirts back," I said, getting up to grab them, but he grabbed my wrist and pulled me back to the bed.

"No, keep them. I don't need them." He said, and I nodded. I looked at him, then looked at my bed.

He's only ever in here in my dreams. Maybe I'm just dreaming.

So, we did end up talking. A lot, actually. Just about life, I guess. What we like, what we don't like. It's just nice to talk to people like that. I just stared at the ceiling while laying in my bed, thinking only about us talking.

I checked the time, and it was 1:00 am. Shit.

"Shit, Finn. The time." I said, and he checked his phone. He's never on his phone. He widened his eyes, and started to panic.

"Shit." He said, and looked out the window to see his car.

"My car is snowed in. It won't move unless we shovel it, but there's a lot of snow." He said, and I panicked. Will my mom care if he just...stays? I think it'll be fine, she will understand.

"You can stay here tonight, if you want? We don't have a guest room, so you would sleep in here." I said, and he nodded.

"On the bed? I can sleep on the floor if you want." He said, and I shook my head no.

"The bed. It'll be fine." I said, and he nodded. I had some extra clothes Caleb left here one time, so I gave him shorts and a black T-shirt. He went to go change, and I changed in here. I put on shorts and a T-shirt, and looked down at my arms. They're never going to be the same. I tried to shake it off, and just get into bed. I went on my phone until finn came back in the room, and we met eyes. He looked down to break the eye contact, and walked to the other side of the bed, staying a distance away. I turn towards him, and look at him.

"My mom will be okay with it. I'll just tell her we were up late talking. Do your parents know where you are?" I asked, and he nodded.

"I'm staying over at Caleb's." He said, and we both laughed a little.

"Okay. Goodnight Finn." I said, turning off the light.

"Goodnight Millie."

——

I wake up, trying to breathe. A bad dream, plus anxiety? Not good. I can't move. I can't calm down, I can't breathe. I'm laying on my back, facing the ceiling. I look at the ceiling, and try to control it. I can't move.

I hear the blankets rustle to my left, and realize Finn is in my bed. He turns towards me, and tries to calm me down.

"Shhhhh," he said, throwing his arm over my body, rubbing my arm. I can't control my breathing.

"It's okay, shhhh," he said, until I calmed down. My heart race was out of control, though. I think Finn fell right back to sleep after that, because his thumb stopped rubbing my arm, and he didn't move again.

His arm makes me feel safe for some reason. Like I'm invincible. It blocks me from all the bad. I like it.

——

I wake up from a knock on my door. I think Finn did too, and we realized we were laying how we were after my dream. Our eyes widened and we immediately went to opposite sides of the bed.

"Come in," I said, and my mom opened the door. She saw Finn, and smiled.

"Hi honey! I didn't know you stayed last night." She said, and Finn smiled and nodded.

"Yeah. I wasn't planning to, but the snow blocked me in, and I couldn't really leave." He said, and she nodded.

"Yeah, good luck trying to leave today too. It's getting worse," she said, and looked at me and smiled.

"You two want breakfast?" She asked, and I shook my head no.

"Okay. Anything else?" She asked, and I groaned, and laid on my back.

"Mooom, we're fine," I said, and she laughed and closed the door, leaving Finn and I alone.

"I'm sorry, I don't recall doing that." He said, meaning the sleeping position.

"It's okay, you were trying to calm me down." I said, and he looked at me.

"Were you having a bad dream?" He asked, and I shrugged.

"Half and half. More anxiety than a bad dream." I said, and he nodded.

"Well, I don't think I can leave until the snow dies down." He said, and I agreed.

"Did you want to do something?" I asked, and he looked at me.

"If you want to."

——

We just went down to the basement and watched movies all day. We didn't really talk. We would occasionally get a little close to each other, but then like reach over to our phone or something and start all over again. It gave me butterflies. I think he's really attractive. I just want to learn more about him and his personality before I go and do anything stupid.

"Why don't you celebrate Christmas?" I asked, and he looked over to me.

"My family doesn't like to celebrate things. They think the excitement on special occasions is fake, and might as well start with none rather than losing all your hope and faith later on in life when you realize Santa or the Easter Bunny isn't real." He said, and my heart broke for him.

"That's so sad, Finn. You should be able to celebrate even if you know Santa or the easter bunny isn't real. It's some of the best days of the year." I said, and he nodded.

"Yeah. I'm letting my kids celebrate when I'm older." He said, and I smiled for him. So he's trying to move onto better things. He turned to face me, and he eyed me.

"You look nice." He said, and I smiled jokingly.

"I'm wearing joggers and a T-shirt." I said, and he nodded.

"You always look nice." He said, and I smiled and thanked him.

How is he so nice, yet he has such a dark side to him? Well, I guess I'm going to have to figure it out.
