Just talk
Hello!!! Enjoy
Millie's POV
I woke up to everyone talking around me. I was more in the corner, so I moved out of it and went into the big area where everyone was talking.
"Mills it's 12:00, why'd you sleep so late?" Noah asked, and I shrugged. I looked around and met eyes with finn. He was awake before me?
Did he even sleep?
"It's kind of hard to sleep on the floor I guess." I stated, and Gaten groaned.
"Can we please go eat? I'm starving." He complained, and everyone got up to get food. I'm not hungry though. Do I need to eat?
I zoned out for a minute or two and forgot to get up. I shook my head to get out of the zone I was in, and saw Finn looking at me.
"Are you going to eat?" He asked. He looks kind of creepy. He's kind of a creep, but I don't think too much of it. It's his personality. I think it's the way he just sits back and stares. With his eyes. It's like he blocks off all source of emotion until he has to. I guess it depends on the day.
"Yes, I just zoned out." I said, and he nodded.
———
"Guys what do we even do today," Caleb asked, bored. We all are sitting on the couches, we cleaned up the entire fort. It took a lot of convincing for everyone to help clean it up.
"I don't know but I'm really fucking bored," Maddie said, on her phone.
"Should we do something active? It's nice outside." Sadie asked, and they groaned.
"How about we go to the beach or something. It's nice out, we can pack lunches, watch the sunset." Finn said, and everyone looked to him.
"That's actually a good idea." Sadie said, and everyone agreed. We discussed whose car we would take, and we ended up taking Caleb's, figuring it fits a bunch of people. But 4 people had to take a different car, and the only other cars were Sadie's and Finns, but Finn offered to drive before Sadie did.
"Okay well I'm going in the party car," Sadie said, and Noah Caleb and Gaten followed her. So it would be Finn Lilia Sophia and I in the other car.
We got into Finns car, but Maddie and Lilia were still tired so they wanted to nap in the back of the car. I had passenger seat then. His car was pretty nice though. It was comfortable.
Since Lilia and Sophia were gonna sleep, Finn didn't play music too loud. I couldn't tell if it was awkward or if it was a comfortable silence with the music in the background.
"You okay mills?" He asked me, keeping his eyes on the road, starting conversation.
"Yeah, I'm okay. Are you?" I asked, looking at him. I'm not going to lie, he makes me nervous. He looks intimidating. The way he dresses, looks. Everything. I love his black curls, and I personally like his side profile which I'm looking at right now. If I had to pick the most attractive guy here, it would be him. He also has that mystery to him that gives me something to think about.
I don't like him, I just find him interesting.
"I'm okay. You know you can always talk to me." He said, and I nodded. I forgot he couldn't see me, so I said yes.
"You know you can always talk to me too Finn. You seem isolated." I said, and he laughed and looked over at me, then back at the road.
"How do I seem isolated?" He asked, a joking smile on his face. I smiled.
"I don't know. You kinda remind me of a vampire," I stated, and he chuckled.
"A vampire?" He asked, and I laughed and said yes.
Finn and I never really had a solid friendship. I'm friends with all of the guys, but I never have conversations with them on a personal level. Even a joking level. I just don't really talk to be honest.
And no, I'm not looking for a relationship. I see how those go.
We arrived at the beach before the party car, so we sat there for a while before waking Sophia and Lilia up.
"It's nice talking to you Millie." Finn said, and I looked over to him. He was already looking into my eyes. I like when he looks at me.
"You need to talk to someone, you know. You seem kinda lonely," I said, tracing my hand on top of his that was set on the shift stick, but quickly taking it away. Just a little touch to know I'm here.
"I'm not that lonely Millie. I know how to have fun," he said, winking at me, and I laughed and looked out the window to see the party car has arrived next to us, music blasting, which woke up Sophia and Lilia.
"Bitches waking us up for the second time today," Sophia mumbled, and I laughed.
I like laughing.
We all piled out of the car and grabbed all the blankets and coolers with food, and set everything up on the beach. It wasn't too hot today, there was a nice breeze. It wasn't too sunny either. It was nice.
We basically just ran around and the guys played football. They made us join them, and it was a mess. I can't remember how many times I got pushed over by one of the guys. Not Noah though, he's kind of weak.
"I'm gonna have bruises all over me," I said laughing. The guys all ran over and dog piled on me, and the girls ran away laughing. The guys know I don't smile or have fun much, so they try to make the best of it and make me happy. They're really sweet.
———
It got darker, towards sunset, so after I ate I got up and walked over to the water to watch it. Sadie joined me. We sat down next to the water to watch it.
"So how was your day?" She asked, and I looked over to her.
"It was good actually. I like hanging out with everyone. How was yours?" I asked.
"It was great. Our friends make the days worth it, you know." She said, and I nodded.
"Or more than friends," she said, and I raised my eyebrows and turned to her.
"You like one of the guys?" I asked, and she shook her head no.
"Not me honey," she said, and smiled. I'm really confused. I turn around and see everyone coming to sit down with us and watch the sunset. It was really pretty actually. We got some pictures of it, and some of us. It was a good day. I wish it would last forever.
———
Soon enough, we had to leave. We took the same cars back, and we were just dropped off. We dropped off Lilia and Sophia first, then we pulled into my driveway. I didn't get out for a minute and it was silent. I turned to Finn, and he turned to me.
"Do you believe in permanent happiness?" I asked, and he looked at me. He looked me down and up. It was dark, we could barely see anything except the light from my porch on our faces a bit. His eyes look dark in this light. Darker than they usually are. Well, he looks dark in this light.
"Yes I do. It might take time to get there, but I know it will. And just because you have bad moments in life or days doesn't mean it's not permanent happiness. You just have to work to it." He stated, and I looked into his eyes.
"What have you been through Finn?" I asked, and he looked away from me. Shit, I shouldn't have said that. That came off as too much. Shit.
"Things." He said, trying to avoid the question.
"I'm sorry I shouldn't have asked, I said, unbuckling the seat belt and going to open the car door. Before I could, he grabbed my wrist. I froze. It felt cold, but it felt warm. It was gentle, but hard.
"Don't leave." He said, and I nodded, not looking at him, but at my legs in the car.
"Can we talk sometime this week? Or hang out? I feel like if I open up, I need to know you more." He asked politely and gentle. I looked at him, and I nodded. He smiled, and I smiled back. His hand on my wrist slid down to my hand, tracing my palm. He took his hand away slowly, letting our fingertips touch.
"B-bye Finn," I stuttered, flustered. He chucked.
"Bu-bye Mills," he mimicked, and I laughed and rolled my eyes.
I went inside straight to my room and laid on my bed, just to think about the day I had.
Maybe I should open up to Finn. But we have to know each other first. I can't just blurt out what's wrong with me.
What was Sadie talking about earlier? Whatever. I forgot about my problems for the night, and went to sleep smiling about my day.
