Fort
Hey everyone! This is the story I've been working on for the past couple of months. I have many chapters written ahead, so I will be publishing more routinely. Tell your friends, if they read my books already and don't know this one, they'll love it. I hope.
I hope y'all enjoy! I really like this book. :)
Millie's POV
I still didn't know how to fully react to this news. Depression? Well yeah I thought I had something. But not depression.
"We are going to start you on antidepressants to see if they help you or not. If they don't, notify me next session. Okay Millie?" Said my therapist, Mrs. Candid. I just call her Sara. It's her name after all.
My mom and I left and were on our way home. She has dealt with depression when she was around my age. I guess 17 is the popular age of depression.
I pick at my fingers until my phone buzzes. That's a first.
Hey Millie, what's up? Do you want to hang out today? Winter break is almost over. I'm gonna kms.
Sadie is my best friend. I can always go to her for anything I need, and same for her. We've been friends since 6th grade, when I moved here.
Sure. I'm on my way home from Sara's, I can drive over to your house when I get home.
Soon enough I get home, and I decide to eat before I do anything. Ava comes down the stairs with her phone in her face, per usual. She's around 11 now, so that's around the age when all the little kids get Instagram and snapchat and TikTok and so on. They're addicted. It's kind of unhealthy, just saying.
"Millie, can you make me some toast too?" Ava asked, not looking up from her phone.
"Why are you talking in an American accent?" I asked, annoyed. She does this all the time, I've just never asked.
"It's the best way to get recognized if I want to be famous one day," she said, and I just laughed. She's insane.
"I'm going to Sadie's, tell mom." I said, walking out the door as Ava said bye to me. I started up my car and drove to Sadie's. She doesn't live too far from me, 10 minutes at most.
I eventually get to Sadie's, and I walk inside. She's sitting on the couch watching whatever is on the TV.
"Hey Millie, what's up?" She asks, as I go and sit next to her. We don't really do much when we hang out by ourselves. We normally hang out with the group, but I like hanging out with Sadie too.
"I went to Sara today," I started and she put her phone down and listened to me.
"After weeks of going to her, she's starting to put me on antidepressants." I said, and Sadie raised her eyebrows.
"Antidepressants? For depression?" She asked, and I nodded. I saw the sympathy in her eyes. I don't like when people sympathize for me, but I know she feels sorry. She doesn't want her best friend to deal with depression so young in life.
"What she is saying is that my anxiety caused some of the depression to form," I said, and she nodded.
"You know you can always talk to me about it, Millie," she said, and I nodded. I would tell her anything. I trust her with my life.
"You can probably talk to Finn too, if you needed someone to relate to." She said, and I nodded. Finn is our friend. We usually hang out with him when we're with the group though, I've never been with him alone.
-
Soon it was around 6:00, and we were just talking and watching movies. Noah texted in the group chat asking if we wanted to all hang out, so we invited them over to Sadie's to chill with us. We are all super close. I can't imagine life without all of them.
Let's break it down. There's a lot of us, but only some can hang out at certain times, so it's not like we have a set hangout group. If they can go they go. The group is Me, Sadie, Maddie, Lilia, Sophia, Noah, Caleb, Gaten and Finn.
All of them could go. I guess nobody had anything to do on a Thursday night. Winter break ends Tuesday. We go back Wednesday. Eventually all of them showed up, most just carpooled to save gas. I started to get anxious, so I fidgeted with my fingers. It's not so much as my friends that make me anxious. It's more of the amount of people and craziness that happens. I still have fun though, it just makes me a little anxious is all.
"So what was the plan Noah?" Lilia asked, and Noah shrugged. Typical Noah.
"I don't know, I was just bored and I didn't realize everyone was free." Noah answered, so we decided to think of something to do.
"Guys, let's make a huge blanket fort." Gaten said, and some of the girls laughed.
"There's like 7 of us, it would take forever." Sadie said, and some agreed. We all eventually agreed it would be fun and we can play games and stuff in it.
So it took around 2 and a half hours. We threw blankets back and forth to each other, pillows, hair tired to keep it stable, and Finn and I were sent to go make popcorn upstairs.
"So what's up with you?" He asked me, and I shrugged.
"Honestly nothing really." I said, and he nodded, and got the popcorn bags out of the pantry and threw them at me. I dropped them, and we laughed. I picked them up and we put then in the microwave, and waited for them to be done.
"I heard you're going to a therapist? Is that right?" He asked, and my stomach dropped. Nobody really knows about that except Sadie.
"Something like that. How'd you know?" I asked, and he looked into my eyes. He has more of a slim figure, nothing too special about him. The best feature has got to be the hair. The curls are good. He's way too tall in my opinion.
"Ava. She likes to ramble to me sometimes when we're over at your house when we are all hanging out." He said, and I nodded. Not surprised.
"Yeah, I'm seeing Sara." I said, and he nodded.
"So is everything okay? You can always talk to me you know. I've been through some stuff, and still going through some things." He said, and I looked over to the beeping microwave. We took them out and put some more packs in, and started pouring the popcorn from the bags into bowls.
"I just have some anxiety problems." I said, not letting him know too much. I'll tell Finn when I'm ready to. He nodded, and looked down to me. Like I said, he's pretty tall.
"If you ever need to talk to me, you can. I know a lot about anxiety, and ways to help it." He said, and I nodded.
"Thank you Finn I appreciate it. Really." I said, and he smiled and nodded. I smiled back. We held the gaze for a couple seconds until we heard one of the boys yell upstairs for the popcorn. We grabbed the rest and brought it downstairs.
The fort looked pretty good. It took up the entire basement. They made tiny rooms for us to sleep in. Sadie's parents are out of town on a ski resort or something like that, so we're just not telling our parents we're sleeping over with guys. They wouldn't be too fond of it. But it's not like we are going to date them, we've all been friends for too long for that. God, I hope nobody ends up dating another.
I took one of the little rooms that was on the far end, next to the wall. It can probably fit around 1 and a half people in there if you're trying to sleep. They also made a middle room that's big enough for all of us to sit in and chill. Play games and talk, whatever we want to do.
Well this is gonna be a long night.

End of chapter 1. This story isn't anything extraordinary, but I think it has a cute simple plot. I hope y'all like it. Chapter 2 will be posted soon.
Comment what you think so far :)
