The last bell ring ending the school day. Katie and Kayla were walking down the hall going to their lockers. They haven't spoken since lunch.

"Hello," Kayla said as she looked at her sister.

She didn't speak.

"Are you gonna talk to me or what?"

She still didn't respond.

"You're still mad about the lunch thing, aren't you?" Nothing.

They reached their lockers and Katie opened hers first.

"Hello....talk to me," She waved her hand in front of Katie's face.

She pushed her hand away, "Now you want me to talk to you? I thought I go my way and you go yours. Just leave me alone." She took her stuff out and closed her locker.

"Listen to me," Kayla tried to talk but Katie interrupted her.

"You fucked up my life." She yells at her sister and walks down the hallway.

"Katie, it happened......," she chased after her.

"And I said I wanted no part in that anymore."

Kayla was trying to catch up but Katie wouldn't slow down.

"You are forever in this. You can't just walk out."

Katie stopped walking and looked back at her sister. Smiling Katie said, "Watch me."

She turned back around and pushed the doors open walking out of the school.

Again Kayla was chasing after her, "We are meeting up at Alyssa's house."

"WE are not." she continued to walk.

"Yes we are, I'm your ride," Kayla held up the keys.

Katie didn't care she walked passed the car. Her sister was shocked. Katie has never done this before.

"Where are you going?"

"Anywhere that your not," she said without looking back at her.

"KATIE!!!" She stood in place and watched her sister continue to walk.

"Bye," She continues walking not caring what her sister had to say.

Kayla was getting fed up and drives to Alyssa's house leaving her sister to walk. When she arrived at Alyssa's house the door was wide open. She decided to walk in.

"Hello?"

"Where's Katie?"

She turns to her right and sees Colby and Emma sitting on the couch.

"She's taking a walk," Kayla responded as she rolled her eyes.

"For?" Emma asked.

Kayla looked around, "It's a long story. Where's—-"

"Alyssa? Be quiet and you'll know," Kayla did what Colby said and listened.

The next thing she heard was Alyssa and her father arguing in the kitchen.

"So you are just going to invite them without talking to us first." He yelled.

"Yeah. I am."

"You are supposed to ask permission first." His voice was getting louder.

"Well, they are already here..... Are you going to kick them out?"

He didn't say anything.

"If you do, you would look like a total douche. Image is everything around here, and apparently, words can damage that.....but what about actions?" Alyssa said with a smile on her face.

He still didn't say anything.

They walked out of the kitchen. She smiled at her friends, "Hi guys."

He quickly walked behind her and turned her around to face him, "I'm not done with you yet."

She forced his hand off her. He didn't say anything.

"Well apparently you are....now could you leave?" She said as she rolled her eyes at him.

He looked at her for a moment and starts to leave.

Without looking at him she said, "Don't forget mom."

Her mother was sitting in a corner looking out of the window. He walked over to her and helped her stand. Once she was up they slowly walked out of the house.

Alyssa sat in front of her friends, "Now back to business. Where's Katie?"

"Walking," Kayla sat next to her.

"Why?"

"She's still mad," Kayla said as she thought back on Katie's actions.

Alyssa shook her head a little, "Well she's gonna have to get over it."

Emma jumped into the conversation, "Let's change the subject. Why are we here?"

"Duh, To finish the conversation we had at lunch," Alyssa said while crossing her legs.

"Ok. We decided to keep the lie going," Kayla said as if that was obvious.

"How?" Emma thought to herself that she was the only one that still felt like this was wrong. But she wanted to make sure they didn't get caught.

"All we got is what happened that night," Colby pointed out.

No one said anything.

Emma looked around. After a while, she said, "Alright then I guess we are done here." And stands up ready to leave.

"Sit down," Kayla said as she stared at her ready to attack her.

Emma sits back down.

"We need to make a pack. If anyone snitches about that night than they are the ones to blame got it." Kayla said.

Alyssa looked confused, "I thought we already agreed to this at lunch."

Kayla smiled, " No I only said it to Colby and Katie to get them in."

"WHAT?" Colby yelled.

"But now I'm serious. Is everyone ok with that?" She looked around at everyone.

"No," Colby said.

But Alyssa and Emma agreed, "Yeah" "I'm in."

"Are you kidding me?" He was shocked to hear them agree after what she just said. What if she was lying about this.

He looked at Kayla and she said, "I'm quite serious."

"You know what......" He tried to hold back some of what he wanted to say. "Why, why the hell are we so focused on covering this shit up? We could be finding out who did it and why."

The girls looked at him surprised that he would say something so smart or something that has to do with work.

"We are not Scooby-doo. We do not go around solving mysteries. If we get involved than we get in trouble or we might end up missing, "Kayla said as she thought about Eva.

He stared at her not believing that it was her, "Since when do you care about getting in trouble. You're the badass in this group. You live for trouble."

"That is a good question." "Yeah," Emma and Alyssa added.

Kayla took a deep breathe, "Look, I just don't want to get too deep into this. That's all."

"HELLO," he yelled. "Look around. We are the middle of it. If we don't do something then we might be next or end up locked up." He thought to himself why isn't anyone thinking of this?

Emma looked at him and said, "I can't believe I'm saying this but Colby is right."

"Thank you," He thought finally someone has some damn sense.

"We need to do something," she added.

"What then? All we know is that she was drunk when she went missing and that she's dead now." Alyssa asked.

"And that she was missing for a whole day before we told the police," Emma said as she remembered Eva dancing on the table.

"And that we lied to police more than once," he added.

Alyssa nods her head, "Ok and that. But that's it."

It was silent for a moment. Kayla was trying to come up with something when she realized they were all looking at her. "What?"

"Look," Alyssa stopped her self from saying what she wanted. "I don't know. Let's just come up with something."

"Man, where is Katie when you need her?" Emma said under her breath.

Colby rolled his eyes at her, "Why are you bringing her up?" thongs didn't end well with him and Katie and he hates when they bring her up.

"She always reads books about these sort of things. Maybe she would have come up with something." Emma explained.

Alyssa thought she took the words right out of my mouth and had the balls to say them. I just wish she didn't. Once again the room was silent. Kayla didn't like this. Or the fact that they were relying on her sister.

Kayla hates when she has too. "Look, sitting around an moping about it isn't gonna help us. We need to think."

Emma nods her head, "What would Katie do?"

"EMMA," Kayla yelled.

Emma was now getting scared. She backs away from her a little, "Sorry, I just wanted to lighten the mood a bit."

Meanwhile, Katie was walking to a friends house. When she arrived she slowly walked to the door. Outside the grass was old and dead. The plants died, the house looked haunted and old toys were laying everywhere from the front yard to the back. She took one step on the stairs and it started cracking. When that happened a cat screamed and ran from under the house.

She took a step back off of the stairs and took three deep breaths. She started to walk up the stairs and finally reached the front door. She pressed the doorbell button and waited for the sound. There was none. She tried again, still no sound. When she reached to knock on the door she heard a voice.

"Who is it?"

She jumped back and tightly grabbed her books and purse. She took a deep breath, "My name is Katie."

"The.......Katie?" The voice said.

She looked around, "I guess." She wished the person would open the door. It was getting hot outside.
