Chapter 46
~Seyeon~
"So, what kind of look would you like?" I asked the young girl in front of me. She has green streaks in her hair and her eyes were big and bright.
"I don't know," she said with a sigh, running a hand through her hair. "Just make me pretty."
I blinked at her. "Uh... what?"
The girl turned to look at me, her eyes narrowed.
I stared back at her, not moving or saying a single word.
"You're pretty," she said, turning back to face the mirror. "Make me pretty like you, unnie."
"Thanks," I mumbled. "I think."
It's not like I put a lot of effort into my look but because I'm meeting Yoongi later, I wanted to look nice when I go and see him. It's been a few days since I last heard from him.
"Do you have plans?" I asked her. "It would help me if I know what your plans are so we don't have you going all extra."
The girl laughed at that. "What?"
I looked at Kay for help but she just shrugged and pretended to be busy. Like always, she was no help at all.
"Plans?" I tried again.
"A date."
"Normal date or..."
She thought hard about this. "Just normal. Nothing fancy."
I nodded, not knowing why she would come here to do her makeup if it's not a fancy occasion. As if she could read my mind, she said, nervously, "Actually this is my first date with my boyfriend. I'm not a girly girl but you can probably tell, right?"
"A little," I said, honestly.
She smirked. "So, make me pretty."
I nodded, slowly. "I'll do my best."
So that's what I did. I didn't have to try too hard because this girl in front of me was pretty already. It wasn't your typical description of pretty woman though but to me, she was pretty. With a few touch ups, you can see a difference but I think I'd prefer her without makeup. She's a natural pretty woman with charms. Plus, she seems cute.
It reminded me of the first time I went on a date with Yoongi... though that's a story for another time.
My phone vibrated and I ignored it, still working on the girl's look. When it started vibrating again, the girl opened her eyes and smiled, "Answer it. It's fine."
I sighed. "I'm sorry."
Looking down at the screen, I saw that it was Jungkook.
"Jungkook?" I answered.
"Noona."
"What's up?"
"Are you busy? Can we talk?"
I looked at the girl in front of me and then said, "Sorry, I'm still at work."
Jungkook cursed on the other side. "Let me hang up—"
"I'll see you after meeting with Yoongi," I said, quickly. "Make time for me, got it?"
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah," I glanced at the woman once more and saw that she was on her phone. "I'll see you later then?"
"Wait," he said, quickly. "Can I come over?"
I stared at the young woman in front of me and then to Lia and Kay before saying, "My workplace?"
"Is that... okay?"
I hesitated. "Are you sure you should come here? Are you not busy?"
"I'll come if you let me."
Well, how can I say no to that? If it's not something important, Jungkook wouldn't be like this, right?
"Come over then," I said with a laugh.
"Right, I'll be there soon."
We hung up.
"Sorry about that," I said, putting my phone down before continuing with her makeup. "Do you want false lashes?"
"Those things you glue on?"
I smiled. "Yeah."
I watched as she thought long and hard about this before nodding, "Okay, unnie. I trust you."
My heart warmed at her cuteness. She looked fierce but I know that's only on the outside. She reminds me of Yoongi.
Ten minutes later, Jungkook came into the shop, all covered up. From head to toe – all black. Yeah, not suspicious or eye-catching at all.
Pulling down his mask, he waved at me, "Seyeon."
Flashing a smile at Jungkook, I turned my attention towards the girl once more. After a few minutes, I finished her makeup and straightened myself, "Alright, you're done here."
The girl stood up and looked at herself in the mirror. "Wow! Is that really me?"
I grinned. "You're beautiful already. I just did some small touch up here and there."
The girl laughed, grabbing her bag. "Don't lie. We both know I look like a potato without any of that."
Jungkook's muffled laugh filled the air.
Both our heads turned his way and he pretended to be really interested in his shoes. I made a mental note to talk to him about that kind of behaviour.
"You think it's funny?" the girl asked, raising her eyebrows.
Jungkook was wearing a black bucket hat, shielding his eyes but you could see that he was smiling.
"Potatoes are pretty," Jungkook said, trying not to laugh. "Don't you agree?"
"He's a good boy, honestly," I said, trying to grab her attention but she was too busy sizing Jungkook up. It made me nervous. Does she recognise him?
As for Jungkook, he had his arms crossed, staring at her and maybe even waiting to see if she recognises him too. His mask slightly covered his lower face. Just a little. Judging by the girl, it doesn't seem like she recognises him.
"A good boy?" the girl asked me, eyes still on Jungkook.
"Man," Jungkook corrected. "Not boy."
"You don't look like a man to me," the girl said, placing her hands on her hip as she raised both eyebrows at Jungkook. Her eyes came my way. "Boy works in this case."
I smiled in spite of myself. Well, Jungkook is the baby in the group after all. Regardless of how manly he can be at times, he'll always be a baby to me.
"You're not one to talk, kid," Jungkook said with a sneer.
I groaned at that. Jungkook hates being treated like a kid. I know that much. Judging by the girl, she was obviously younger than him.
Walking towards Jungkook, I patted his back before pinching him slightly.
"Hey!"
I smiled sweetly at the girl, "That'll be fifty dollars."
The sooner I send her off, the better. I don't need Jungkook to come here like this. He was in a bad mood. I could tell. It made me wonder why he was in such a foul mood too since he's always bright.
I shot him a warning look as the girl before us pulled out her card, handing it to me. When I looked at her, she was glaring at Jungkook who had his hands tucked in his pockets, looking at her all amused.
Shaking my head at him, I went towards the front desk with her card.
The door opened and a blonde girl poked her head into the shop. "I need to run some errands, Dohee! I'll see you at the restaurant, okay?"
"Fine," Dohee said, eyes still on Jungkook.
"Dohee?" Jungkook murmured.
"That's me, asshole."
Jungkook grinned at that.
Oh, we have an interesting one here, alright. Jungkook is making things worse. Or maybe she's like this towards all men aside from her boyfriend? Jungkook sort of agreed she looked like a potato too. Either way, I was invested in this drama here but because I don't want there to be a scandal or anything, I moved towards Dohee and handed her card back to her.
She took the card, eyes still on Jungkook.
"Got a name?" she asked, tilting her head when Jungkook didn't say anything to her calling him 'asshole'.
Jungkook pretended to think long and hard about her question.
"So?"
I thought he wouldn't but Jungkook surprised me by answering her in a gravelly voice, "Jungkook."
Dohee pulled her bag over her shoulder and then said, "Well then, Jungkook, let's hope you learn what compliments are before some poor girl decides to date you."
Jungkook laughed, all low and husky. "Potato."
I was expecting Dohee to look mad or offended but she surprised me by laughing.
My heart skipped a beat as I stared at the two. Maybe this was the start of something? Oh boy just wait until I tell the others about this.
"Thanks unnie," Dohee said, turning her head to me. "I'll be going now."
"You have fun with your boyfriend," I said, with a smile. "Come again, yeah?"
Dohee nodded and turned to go but not before turning to look at Jungkook who was already looking at her.
She lifted a finger, pointing at him, "I'm telling you now. Work on your compliments."
"Will do, Dohee," Jungkook drawled, a playful look in his eyes.
***
"I'm here!" I announced loudly as I threw the door open.
Yoongi turned around in his chair, shaking his head at me, an exasperate smile on his lips.
"What?" I asked, closing the door behind me.
"Do you have to make such a grand entrance?"
I grinned at that, "Well, I wanted to let you know that I was in the building."
Making my way towards him, I leaned down and looked at his computer. "Ah, you working again?"
"Mm," Yoongi said, placing his hands on my waist, pulling me down to his lap. "I did really well with this piece. You want to listen to it?"
"Do you need to ask me that?" I said with a scoff as I reached over and pressed play.
Yoongi rest his chin on my shoulder as I listened to the song attentively. When it was done, I smiled and nodded at him, telling him that I was really happy with his work.
"What did you get up to?" he asked. "You were supposed to be here two hours ago."
So I told him about what happened with Jungkook and the girl, Dohee. Yoongi was surprised by it but he found it amusing. Just like I knew he would. Then I proceed to tell him about how Jungkook's worried about Namjoon and that Namjoon have told Jungkook some parts about his history with Jihye. Obviously, Jungkook didn't tell me what he said and I didn't ask too but he wanted to talk to me about it since I was the last one who saw Jihye before she disappeared.
Yoongi took this in, tapping his fingers on the table before shifting his gaze to me. "You went to see her though?"
"Yeah," I nodded. "Her father's still at the hospital and since she gave me a bear..."
Yoongi grinned. "Don't tell me you gave her that thing."
"It's a bear," I rolled my eyes.
"It doesn't look like one."
I glared at him, "You're supposed to be supportive!"
"If I'm supportive of your ugly creations, you'd never learn."
Well, he has a point there.
"You're nicer with the members though," I pointed out. "You never tell them they're doing things wrong."
"I tell Namjoon and Taehyung off all the time."
Well, that was also true too. Whatever.
"Up," Yoongi said, running his hands over my bottom.
I immediately shot up and spun around, glaring at the guy. Yoongi stood up and grabbed his phone and wallet before putting on his mask.
I eyed him, wearily. "What are you doing?"
Yoongi leaned over, grabbing my hand. "We're going to eat, Tiny."
I blinked at that. "We are?"
And I let him drag me out of there, smiling the whole way.
