Chapter 45

~Jimin~

Jimin's phone vibrated with a text. Reaching for his phone, his face gentled when he saw that it was from Miyoung.

I won't be able to hang out with you for a while, she texted. I have exams coming up.

Jimin typed back, I won't bother you so let's meet up later.

Missed me?

I always do, he texted, lips curling into a smile. You missed me too, don't you?

Fine, fine ^^ I'll be with friends until late though so feel free to make yourself comfortable at my place.

He wanted the day to be over already so he can see Miyoung. Although he knew she was busy, he couldn't help but just want to be around her. It's true that he tends to distract her a little too much when he's around but he can't help it. She's so cute and he loves teasing her.

"Having fun texting Miyoung?" Hoseok asked, giving him a knowing smile.

Jimin looked at him and smirked in response. Jimin and the members (aside from Taehyung) were sitting in the studio room, waiting to record their parts when they suddenly hear a loud commotion outside the door before the door was thrown opened.

Jimin smiled and without looking to see who it was, he knew it was Taehyung by his rapping. What made him laugh was the fact that Seyeon was rapping alongside him. Sort of.

Glancing over at them, Jimin laughed hard when he saw Taehyung dancing while playing a song from Yoongi's mixtape and Seyeon rapping and cursing while trying to keep with Yoongi's pace.

Seokjin and Jungkook got to their feet and walked towards them, rapping alongside them too. As for Namjoon, he was looking at them adoringly while Jimin and Hoseok burst out laughing at the group. Yoongi? Well, he was just looking at them, a small smile tugged at his lips.

Seyeon was cursing loudly and now shouting the lyrics while dancing with Taehyung who was practically yelling. Jungkook and Seokjin acted as their backup.

"What are you doing?" Yoongi groaned, running a hand down his face. "So noisy."

"Hyung," Jimin said, laughter in his tone. "This is why I keep telling you to stop cursing in your songs. Look at them go!"

As if on cue, Seyeon danced her way towards Yoongi.

Yoongi smiled at her, lazily. "What?"

Seyeon bent down, kissing his cheek. "Congratulations on the release of your mixtape, baby."

Yoongi's lips twitched. "You barged into the company with your horrible rap and dance skills just to congratulate me?"

Seyeon grinned and nodded. "That's right! I met Taehyung along the way."

"Get ready for noise complaints," he muttered.

"Hey!" Taehyung said, throwing an arm around Seyeon's shoulders. "We're good, okay? Hey, noona, how do you feel about being featured on my mixtape?"

Seyeon's eyes sparkled. "Will you let me do the rap?"

Taehyung nodded, enthusiastically. "You and me together. World domination."

~Yoongi~

"Are you leaving already?" Yoongi asked, feeling disappointed.

Seyeon laughed at the expression on his face and nodded. "I have to meet someone."

"Who?"

"Someone," she said with a mischievous glint in her eyes before she reached out and grabbed his arm with both her hands. "Do you want to come with me?"

"Am I invited?"

"Nope."

"So why ask?" he asked, chuckling.

"You looked like you wanted me to ask," she said, letting go of his arm. "Well, I'll see you next week then. We're going to be busy for a while."

Yoongi sighed and nodded. "Unfortunately."

Seyeon tapped his nose playfully, eyes sparkling. "Work hard and make lots of money, okay?"

Yoongi chuckled. "Alright."

Leaning down, he brushed his lips across hers before giving her a quick kiss. When he pulled away, he was happy to see her eyes bright and sparkling.

"Don't cause trouble," he murmured.

Seyeon gave him a sly smile. "Why would I ever do that, hm?"

~Jihye~

I don't understand why she's sitting here with me right now.

After sending Namjoon away like I did, I thought they will finally leave me alone but that's not the case.

I stared at Seyeon, not knowing what to say.

Seyeon flashed that bright smile of hers before grabbing my arm with both her hands. You would never believe that she was glaring at me for thinking I have something going on with her man.

Right now, I can tell why she's loved and cared for. I could see the way Namjoon's eyes wouldn't leave her when they came to pick her up from the hospital. I'd be lying if I say I wasn't jealous because I was. So much.

"You're engaged," Seyeon said, eyes on my fourth finger.

I looked at her and saw how disappointed she looked. It made me sigh at the sight of it. Why do these people keep thinking they can fix what Namjoon and I broke? They can't. It can't be fixed.

"You're engaged," she repeated.

Her quiet disbelief tone took me back to the moment Namjoon saw the ring on my finger. He couldn't take his eyes off the ring and when he finally did, his eyes clashed with mine, making it hard for me to breathe. In those eyes, there was a vague sense of sadness... and perhaps a little pain too.

"Wh-why are you here?" I asked.

Seyeon frowned at my hand once more before letting go of my arm. Then she held up a small bag for me.

I tilted my head to the side, confused.

Seyeon pouted at my expression and pushed the bag into my hands. "For you, Jihye."

I blinked. "For me? Why?"

I opened the bag, reaching to grab what was in the bag.

"Your gift made me all better," Seyeon said, cheekily. "So, I wanted to repay you back."

I pulled out a bear. Well, I think it was a bear.

I stared at it before shifting my gaze to Seyeon. It was a pink bear. Sewn.

"Did you..." I trailed off.

"Fine!" she said with a scoff, clearly offended. "I made it myself! I know it's ugly and doesn't even look like a bear but at least pretend to like it!"

I bite my lower lip to stop the smile that was threatening to curl my lips but it wasn't working. How long has it been since I've smiled like this?

"You think it's ugly too, don't you?" she said, glaring at me.

I couldn't stop myself from grinning. "Maybe."

Seyeon pouted at that. "Meanie."

I smiled, glancing down at the pink bear, stroking it slightly. "Thank you, Seyeon. I—love it."

"Do you?"

I glanced at her and nodded, holding it against my chest. "I'll treasure it."

Seyeon's face gentled in a way that made her looked so beautiful and gentle. It was this face that had so many men falling for her. I could tell.

"Your father," she began.

I tensed at the mention of my father. Did Namjoon tell them? No, he's not the type who will... then again, these people are like a family to him.

"I hope he gets better," Seyeon said, quietly. "It's not easy to lose a parent."

I forced a smile. "Yeah."

"If you need anything..." she trailed off.

"Seyeon," I began, troubled.

She cut me off, "Don't call Yoongi. Call me."

I blinked. "Huh?"

Seyeon cleared her throat. "Call me."

I frowned. "Yoongi and I don't—"

Seyeon tapped my nose with her finger, making me flinched at that. Grinning at me, she said, "I know there's nothing between you two but Yoongi tends to be a little too good to other women, you know?"

I said nothing, still frowning.

"Not just me, Jiyeon too," Seyeon said with a tense smile. "I know I'm not close to you and you probably think I'm a burden but—"

"I don't think you're a burden," I cut her off, quickly. "And you're right. We're not close at all."

Seyeon nodded, eyes serious. "We can change that."

I laughed, softly at that. "I don't think we should."

Seyeon leaned towards me, eyes narrowed. "We will whether you like it or not, Jihye."

I do not like the sound of that at all.

Seyeon moved away from me, placing a hand on my shoulder. Damn, the girl was short.

"I've seen so many bad things in life, Jihye. Not only that, I did so many bad things too." She sighed. "If there's one thing I regret, it's that I didn't let people into my heart soon enough."

This woman. She doesn't get it at all.

I opened my mouth to argue but she didn't let me because she continued to cut me off, saying, "Your life, your call. But do you really want to live such a lonely life, Jihye? Jiyeon cares about you. Hoseok too. Well, now Yoongi does too which means I have come to care about you too."

"Seyeon," I began, in a serious tone. "I don't want to go there."

Her eyes grew sad and that tore at my heart. I barely know this woman but I don't like to see her sad.

"I'm—sorry," I whispered.

Seyeon leaned up, ruffling my hair. In a quiet voice, she said, "I hope you get there one day, Jihye."

"Hm?"

"You need a happy ending too."

I smiled, tiredly. "Right."

"Well, I'm going to leave now," Seyeon said, glancing down at her watch. "I'm supposed to meet some friends for lunch."

I should have let her walked away but I didn't. I couldn't.

Seeing that peaceful look in her eyes... I can't deny and say I don't want that too. Is there some way for me to get there without having to face my past? Without having to reopen my old wounds?

"Seyeon."

She stopped walking and glanced over her shoulder me.

I hesitated, trying to find the right words. "How?"

Seyeon gave me a puzzled smile.

I took a deep breath and just went for it. "You said you saw bad things in your life and also did some bad things too. It must have been hard to get back on the right path, right?"

Seyeon nodded, slowly, waiting for me to continue. That's what I did.

"How did you do it?" I asked.

"Yoongi's love."

Now it was my turn to give her a puzzled look.

"Yoongi's love," Seyeon repeated with a dreamy smile. Her eyes sparkled with happiness. "it changed me. I could face my fears because of his love. He believed in me. With that kind of love, I was able to bury my past. We might not want to face our past because our wounds have not healed but we can bury it if we need to. My past... I no longer want to face it. It's over and done with. I was young and made stupid decisions but that's all over now. It no longer defines me. With Yoongi by my side, I was able to bury all the ugly parts of me."

My heart thumped at that. Maybe it was because she looked so happy and peaceful that it made me want to be like her. I can't though.

Looking at her, I could tell that it really was Yoongi's love that changed her. It made her into a better woman.

"But you know what, Jihye?"

I lifted my eyes to meet hers.

Seyeon's eyes warmed as she smiled at me before pointing at her heart. "I needed to first believe and love myself to make the decisions I needed. I was the one who took the first step forward and the rest fell into place after that."

I softened at that, nodding.

"I know you can do that too," she said, eyes serious. "Maybe not now but definitely one day."

"I hope so too," I whispered.

And just like that, Seyeon left.

As for me, I turned my attention towards my father's hospital room, running my fingertips over the engagement ring Daeyoung gave me.

Namjoon's face filled my vision as tears pricked my eyes.

"What if it's too late?" I asked in a small voice. "What do I do then?"

But I received no answer. Just like always.

~Namjoon~

Namjoon heard the door opened and closed behind him but he didn't turn his head to see who it was.

He was leaning against his chair, head tipped back, eyes to the ceiling, lost in his own thoughts again.

"Hyung," Jungkook said.

Namjoon shifted his gaze towards their youngest member who was looking at him, all concerned.

He smirked at that, straightening himself as he turned his chair around so he could face Jungkook. "What's with that look?"

Jungkook walked over towards Namjoon, placing both his hands on Namjoon's shoulders, shaking him slightly. "Talk to me."

Namjoon arched his eyebrows at Jungkook. "What?"

"I want to be able to help you too."

Namjoon couldn't help but smile at that. "Do you?"

Jungkook nodded, eyes full of determination. "So I've decided that I will kidnap her."

Namjoon stopped smiling. "Say what?"

Jungkook cracked his knuckles. "Right. Kidnap the pretty noona and bring her here."

Namjoon barely managed to stop Jungkook as he turned to leave but Namjoon did it anyways.

"Whoa, what's this about kidnapping?" Namjoon asked with a surprise laugh. "You're not going to kidnap anyone, kid."

Jungkook narrowed his eyes. "I'm sick of it, hyung. Sick of pretending not to see that you're hurting."

Namjoon's eyes warmed. "Jihye and my past... it's not pretty." Turning his gaze towards the windows, he smiled bitterly at the memory of seeing Jihye wearing a ring on her fourth finger. "It's not pretty at all, Jungkook."
