Hello all you lovely readers! It's Beijing once again with another chapter!!! Err, I don't really have any updates to share with you all so.... On to the chapter!

Yun's POV

"Why do you love me?" Huan's words struck me like a knife.

Questions of my own start to bubble up in my mind.  Why do I love Huan?  I thought I knew.... But do I really?  I mean, I do like her.  I like her very much.  I like the way her eyes shimmer when she talks about things that she enjoys, and she almost always has a quick, witty remark to shoot at anyone who provokes her.  I like how strong she is and how she always appears to be so cool and collecting in any situation.

But standing right in front of me is not the same girl that I have grown to know.  The Huan standing before now has eyes with a broken emptiness in them.  Her usual cool and calm aura has dissipated; leaving instead an aura of distress and gloom.

When I didn't give an answer right away, she looks to the ground while shaking her head slightly.  "I knew it...."

"N-No!  Huan I-"

"No Yun!" She cuts me off.  "No.  Admit it, you don't really love me.  Heck, you don't even know me!"

I am taken aback by her sudden statement.  I open my mouth to speak, but I find that I am unable to say anything.

"Yun, you don't know me.  You don't know anything about my past or about what lies in my future.  I'm sorry to say this, I really am, but I'm afraid you fell in love with something that isn't real...."

"Well how am I supposed to know anything about you if you won't open up!" I shoot back

Huan's eyes widen slightly before shifting her attention back to the damp gravel under our feet.  "Do you really want to know?"

"Of course I want to know." I step towards her and take Huan's chin in my hand to force her to look at me. "Why would you ever think that I wouldn't want to see who you really are Huan?"

Huan blushes and bites her lip before responding, "I... Yun, you have to understand.... There are many things in my past that I'm.... I'm not very proud of.... And there are many things about me that even the knowledge of them could put you in danger."

I pull the slightly smaller girl into my arms. "There is no need to hide anymore.... Even if we can't make a... Relationship... Work then I still want to be here for you.... I want be able to stand with you.... You don't need to face the world alone anymore" I softly whisper to her as I stroke the back of her head reassuringly

Huan sighs before pulling away slightly; she smiles lightly at me. Her beautiful violet eyes are shining once more and I can feel myself smiling back at her.

"Thank you Yun..." She whispers back.

I smile at her before she walks away to begin pouring the concoction she created into the small pot that was holding her plant.

"You want to know more about me, yes?" She asks after she finishes pouring the liquid into the pot. I nod at her in response.

"Well I guess I should explain to you why I carry this plant around then." A small smile graces her lips as she says this.

"Yes, I have wondered that...."

"This plant is not just a plant... This plant holds the spirit of a very dear friend of mine" Huan's pale pink lips curve slightly into a sad smile. "A long while ago, a good friend of mine gave me a pouch of seeds. He claimed them to be 'magic'." She chuckles slightly. "At the time, I thought that he was just conned out of his money, but I soon found that what he said was true... After he... Moved on from this world.... The seeds we planted together started to grow... I thought nothing of it at first; I was too busy mourning the loss of my dear friend, but after months and months of grief, I began to notice the oddly colored plant. I nurtured the plant like any other; how else was I supposed to take care of it? I gave it water and sunlight; never paying much attention to the bush. However, it wasn't until one night, that I noticed, the oddly colored leaves shimmered in the moonlight. It was like nothing I have ever seen before, and at that moment, I could hear him." Huan reaches down to stroke one of the blue-green leaves of the plant gently. "I thought I was going crazy! What else was I supposed to think? I was hearing the voice of a dead man!" She laughs dryly at her own joke. "But soon, I became lost in the voice of my old friend; my only friend. He never told me anything more than things like, 'keep strong!', 'you'll be ok', and 'I'll always be here' but it was enough. Just hearing his voice was more than enough to make even the worst of days a great one. I haven't been hearing his voice much lately... Knowing him though, he probably got himself stuck in a hole or something.... Heh... But even still.... this plant has a lot of special meaning to me... And I couldn't leave it behind... Even if it just appears to be a weed... This plant... This specific shoot, is the original shoot that grew all the others... The one we planted together."

I smile at Huan as I walk towards her. I take one of her hands in the two of mine. "I'm glad you told me"

Huan looks up at me and smiles as well. "I'm glad I did as well"

'I truly do want to know the girl behind the mask.... I want to be able to stand with Huan through her storm.... I hope that this will be the beginning of something beautiful.....'

And as the couple smiled at each other, a spark was initiated. That little spark sent a electrifying chill throughout the land. And on that day, the plant that stood in time grew a bud.

A new era is only just beginning
