Chapter 25

It has been a day and they still haven't found the herb.
The group had searched past sunrise for the herb that they needed. Under normal circumstances Yun would have called the search off already, however, after the sun came up and Yun had to change the bandages he wrapped around her legs, he found that her wounds were beginning to become infected and she had a fever. Apparently, when she fell down the hill she cut herself on a rusty hunting spear. Yun had cleaned it throughly with warm water when they had first found out about her injuries, but he didn't have anything else to clean it with since they had used his last bottle of antiseptic when they treated Lanying's wounds back at the abandoned village. Huan had taken a look at the infection and had grimly reported that it could potentially be fatal if they couldn't treat it soon; Yona was already beginning to experiencing the symptoms such as, fever and fatigue. Huan had said that it would be best to treat it with an antiseptic as soon as possible but to create an herbal one would be hard in the area they were currently in, so that would have to be put off until they could get her to a clinic in a Water Tribe town. However, they couldn't very well as leave her untreated, and with them being in the area they were in, finding the last ingredient to create the ointment was their best bet.
Hak was once again tending to Yona's bedside while Lanying stood guard outside the tent. Zeno and Kija were now helping the other four find the herb but Huan and Yun had switched partners. Yun wanted to use Jae-ha to see if he could get an aerial perspective, so the two were currently soaring above the treetops to see if they could find a denser part of the forest where the soil would be richer.
Both worked in silence, but the loud, nagging thoughts in Jae-ha's mind from last night begin to get the better of him. "Yun?"
    "Hmm?"
    "About Huan..."
    "What about her?"
"You know that what happened with Ik-soo wasn't really her fault, right?"
"Of course I know that." Yun's answer surprises Jae-ha quite a bit, and almost causes him to miss the tree branch he was aiming for. "Hey! Watch it!"
"Sorry, sorry. But Yun, if you know that Huan's not to blame.... Then why are you mad at her?"
"Mad at her? I'm not mad at her." Yun replies with a bit of surprise in his tone.
"But you're avoiding her and such...."
"....Well it's not exactly like we can just continue on as nothing happen... I get that it wasn't her fault, but it was still at her hands that Ik-soo died.... It's terrible and wrong of me, but whenever I look at her face all I can see are those dead, red and black eyes staring back at me. It wasn't her, but it was her at the same time.... How am I supposed to cope with that? How am I supposed to react?"
The point that Yun brings up is a good one. How do you react to facing the murderer of a loved one, but still know that they were not the mastermind? Both Yun and Jae-ha understand that Huan is simply a pawn, a puppet for the demon inside of her to control at will, but all the evil deeds that she is being forced to do are still being done at her hands. In a game chess you must kill the innocent, enemy pawns in order to take down the King, but if that is true, then what does that say about Huan's fate? "I don't know Yun... I don't know."
"Hey? Is that Shin-ah?" Yun says as he points down at a distinct fluffy lump standing in front of what appears to be the mouth of a cave.
"I think so, but where's Huan?" They pair descend downwards where Jae-ha lands in a nearby tree. The two climb down from the tree to approach the figure who is definitely Shin-ah. "Shin-ah, where's Huan?"
Shin-ah turns around the face the two of them before pointing to the cave. "I tried to stop her, but she still went." He says in his quiet voice.
"Why didn't you stop her?!" Jae-ha openly displays his distress. The cave was pitch black and went downwards at a rather steep decline. Furthermore, there appeared to be several stalactites and stalagmites that easily cause injury.
    Shin-ah shakes his head. "I couldn't."
"What do you mean-" Jae-ha had attempted to walk into the cave but right as he got to the mouth, it was as if a quick, painful shock of energy surged throughout his entire body which was followed by some force pushing him back. "What the..." Jae-ha looks down to his side from where he was on the ground to find a small, dusty stone stuck in the ground. Under further inspection, he finds a Yin and Yang symbol in the center of a pentagram. "Demon magic. This must be a place under the Demon Queens' domain."
"I'll go after her then." Yun says as he manages to get into the cave.
"No, wait, I'll go get Hak or Lanying to go get her." Jae-ha insists. If this was the domain of those Demons then there was no telling what would be inside of that cave, and if the Yin Demon inside of Huan activates then Yun would be as good as dead.
"No, there's not enough time. Shin-ah, I assume that she went in because you saw something that looked like the herb, right?" Shin-ah nods. "Then knowing Huan she will probably do something stupid in order to get that dumb plant. You can go back and try to get Hak, Lanying might be a bit of a dangerous choice but if you have to then bring her, but I'm going in."
Jae-ha, at a loss for words, simply nods. "Ok, but make sure you come back alive."
Yun scoffs "Of course I will, I am a handsome boy genius."
And with that, Yun disappears into the black void.
