It Takes Two - Part One
Tango's POV:
How come it seems that the worst things happen in storms? We were messing around, minding our own business and generally failing at golf when the first drops began to fall. We had just reached the fifth hole, all of us on double bogey, when lightning struck the flagpole. I wanted to keep going, but the others insisted that we go back to the clubhouse to wait out the storm.
Reluctantly, I relented, and we made our way back. Joe and X were also there, both as disgruntled as us. Suddenly, Impulse released a frightened shout (he still insists to me that it wasn't a scream): a tornado was forming. Nobody had had any experience with tornadoes before, so we all just stood there, dumbfounded, until Scar had the sense to usher us into the basement. Everyone else made it, but Zed was just standing still in shock.
I rushed out to take him downstairs, followed closely by Impulse. The windows had been smashed in by the ferocity of the storm, and Zed built up the courage to make his way towards us. Struggling in the wind, we met in the middle of the room, just as the sound of a thousand trains came towards us. We were too late.
I felt the ground being stolen from under my feet, and saw the others desperately clinging to furniture as it was ripped from the floor. Thud. A floating chair slammed into my head at full force. As consciousness slipped from my grasp, I noticed a strange royal-blue spark flickering in the core of the chaos...
The girl in the hoodie looks at you, showing a pair of strange eyepatches. Smiling, she whispers "time skip, y'all".
I woke up... somewhere. Warm sand pressed up against my face, but it certainly wasn't dry enough to be the desert around the Country Club. Furthermore, I could hear the rush of the ocean. Pushing myself up, I saw I was on one of the islands near where the war happened. Looking around, I noticed some skyscrapers, belonging to Python, if my memory served me right. Strangely, the windows seemed to be a light blue, not the red I thought I remembered them as.
I stood up, and immediately felt dizzy. But I shrugged it off: I needed to find Impulse and Zed, to make sure they were okay. I reached for my rockets, but they were nowhere to be found. Worriedly, I opened my inventory: completely empty. Sighing, I swam across the small channel that spanned the gap between the rest of the Modern District and where I was. Just as I reached land, I felt a clammy hand grab my ankle, trying to drag me into the depths. I cried out, knowing nobody would hear...
Stress' POV:
An arrow thunked into the wall beside me. Cleo and I had been helping False with the Chicken-in-a-Grian-Costume when the tornado ripped through. I'd woken up in what seemed to be the Stock Exchange vault, but it was full of Mumbo and Impulse heads, not Grian and Tango heads. I was trapped behind the wall of concrete powder, and a skeleton was firing on me. Dodging arrow after arrow, I was running out of breath.
Thankfully, my salvation came; unfortunately, it came in the form of the wall I'd been bracing myself on suddenly falling away. I hit my head on the wall of the diamond jacuzzi, so I suppose that I thought that I had gone mad when I saw Mumbo in an outfit like Grian's Sherlock costume, Iskall in one like Ren's and X in one like Doc's. They looked at me in surprise, before Mumbo declared:
"I think we found our Jingler. Now let's put those diamonds of yours back, and we can deal with her."
In return, I coughed: "Jingler? I thought the Jangler returned the diamonds? And nobody knows who the Jingler is."
They just gave me a look of utter confusion. As they turned their backs to me to replace the diamonds, I dragged myself to my feet, head throbbing. Stumbling, I ran out of the room, hearing their footsteps not far behind. I made a mad dash towards the elevator, slamming the doors as soon as I got in. As the elevator music played, I relaxed. My head hurt so much, but I held on. I needed to find False and Cleo.
As I ran out of the Stock Exchange, I heard the elevator behind me go back down again. I needed to find the others, but I also needed to hide. Deciding the G-Team base would be the best place to go in this situation, I made my way towards the Modern District and the battlefield beyond. Moments later, my destination was in sight, but I heard elytra behind me, coming closer.
Looking around for any kind of cover, or help, I saw Tango crawling out of the nearby river. Suddenly, he cried out, and began falling back into the river. Summoning the last of my strength, I ran to him, grabbing his arm and pulling him out. With that, I was spent, and found myself drowning in the abyss of sleep.
Okay, so that makes to story arcs and an AU. Nice.
This is mostly an excuse to write more ZIT, Stress, False and Cleo.
This has been Pi, and I'll see y'all at some point in the future!
