The Morning After I Died

Chapter 3: The Morning After I Died

The detectives came bright and early at 6 a.m the next morning. They called it a ‘double homicide’. The first thing that they did was have their medical examiner come and examine our bodies. The agents looked around the crime scene for evidence.

Being the curious person that I am, I looked for where they were from. I saw their badges were from the FBI. The badges looked exsactly like they did on tv shows: gold and pretty awesome.

When I was younger I was always a huge fan of murder mystery shows, so I kind of had an idea of how it worked, or so I thought.

Their medical examiner was named Frankie, with her assistant Helen. They seemed like very educated people. They went over to the blond girl first. Of course they started to say all of the injuries, but most of it I really didn’t understand. These fancy people and their fancy words.

Pretty much she got shot twice, and the second shot was the kill shot, at least its how the agents (who were almost as clueless as me with this wording) put it. They could tell that the killer took all identification, when they looked through all of the items with her body and saw what had been ruffled through.

After putting the body on the gurnee, and loading her into the truck (that would take us to the FBI lab), the medical examiners finally came over to examine me.

They described me as a caucasian, brunette, female, with no identification.

They looked over my body, and saw exactly what had happened. They said ‘she was shot three times, the third shot was the kill shot. Once in the foot, once in the stomach, and third in the shoulder.’ It was pretty cool how they could find that out. Truthfully that was the one thing I was skeptical about on the tv shows, how they examined and found out many things just from looking at the dead body.

The main detective, Autumn came over to the medical examiners and her assistant field agent, Veronica. She told them that she thought that the  target was the Jane Doe over there. She said that this Jane Doe aka me, must have been a witness. Now you must be wondering what a Jane Doe is. Basically it is a body that had no identification yet.

Of course they asked her how she knew.

She said that she just put the pieces together. The medical examiners found that I had been running. They found that she was killed 8 minutes before me. And they could tell that the 1st Jane Doe’s murder was more perfected. They could tell that I was just a quick cover up job.

Luckily they were smart enough to figure that out. It was kind of fun knowing about the murder and seeing them solve it (but I still was going to help). Plus I get to see my own murder investigation!

Now they had a bunch more to find out. First off they need to find my gang, who I am, and of course my killer.

I am glad that the FBI was detecting this murder. They are a lot better than just the local police department.

This blond girl (who I have become pretty curious about, keeping in mind that her murder got me murdered), and I need closure and justice.

Now you know how all of these murder cases move so fast in the TV shows? Well trust me, these go a lot slower. It was going much faster earlier. Once they examined our bodies, everything went very slowly.

Just to get from the crime scene to the FBI lab took an hour. Who knew how much time it would take them to solve this case. Months? Years?

I was still trying to figure out how I planned to help the FBI solve this murder. Sure I knew some what, what he looked like. But I could never identify him. And anyway no one can see or hear me.

I am still hoping that this blond girl became a ghost, so we can be some sort of ghost murder detecting team, but it had started to sink in that I was alone.

So far the team had examined me and brought me to the lab.

The lab was huge, and they lifted me onto a metal table.
The only other body in here was the other Jane Doe.

Hopefully they would identify us soon so that we wouldn’t just be Jane Doe’s any longer….

I knew that they would continue examining. I had heard them talking, and we were their #1 priority right now, and I am pretty happy for that.

I knew that they would start taking pictures, researching, and other crap, but I was glad that I had some time to figure out what was going on.

Right now I needed to catch up on what they knew by listening to their conversations. This way I can learn what they know and start doing some detecting of my own.

And yes, being a ghost lets you do anything anonymously.

Pretty much all I confirmed was my previous theory. The FBI works much slower than the TV shows portray. All that they had written down right now was what they found at the crime scene.

But overall, so far being a ghost was not so bad. At least it was better than being completely gone from the world.

Quinn Nepli was still here, and would still make a difference.
