Jungkook's POV
"Jungkook-ah! Let me see you in your suit!"
"Jin hyung, I don't like it! It's uncomfortable~" I whine, slumping into the lounge in my white shirt and grey suit accompanied by weird looking smart black shoes.
"Kookie~ you look so handsome!" Jin cooes, prancing over and squeezing my cheeks. I slap his hands away and sigh at his childish behaviour.
He pauses and stares me up and down, a frown appearing as he looks at my chest.
"Kookie, why aren't you wearing a tie?"
"I don't know, I guess I thought it would make me look too formal" I shrug, picking up my keys from the table in the lounge. A firm hand halts me from moving towards the door, fierce eyes staring into my soul.
"You're not leaving this damn apartment until you put a fricking tie on! Now go!" He ushers me back into my room. I roll my eyes at his persistent attitude, a smile creeping onto my lips from the fact he avoids swearing in front of me.
I'm a grown man! I've heard it all before, if not worse!
I open up my chest of drawers, fishing out a matching grey tie and going back into the lounge. Jin is sitting in 'his' armchair, one leg crossed over the other.
"Aww what's wrong Kookie, can't you put on your tie by yourself?" He teases, giggling at my expression. Standing from his armchair, he makes his way over and takes the tie out of my hands.
Like he's done it a thousand times, which he probably has, he completes it with ease, stepping back to admire his creation.
"There, that's better. But seriously, Kook, you need to learn how to put on a tie" he shakes his head, silver hair moving with it.
I've never been able to do it, I don't know why. Everyone does it so easily and mine always turns out a mess.
"I know, hyung. I think you need to teach me again" I sigh, checking myself over in the mirror by the front door.
"How many times is that now? Seven? I'm not sure, I've lost track" he chuckles, hitting me playfully on the shoulder.
"Right I better go" I sigh, the nerves quickly emerging. I take a deep breath and open the door, brief case in hand and keys in the other.
"Good luck, Kook! Just be yourself!"
I smile and step out into the hallway, looking back at my good friend.
"Thanks hyung..." I laugh nervously, fixing my suit. I roll my eyes, stepping aside to make room for Jin to get through the door.
"Now get the fuck out of my apartment"
~
I open the door to the giant office building, the handle cold under my fingertips. I step inside. The white marble underfoot looks so thoroughly polished that I can see my reflection in the tiles.
The whole ground floor is a mixture of black and white, a modern theme consistent throughout the whole decor. I approach the reception desk, a slim blonde young woman sitting behind it. Her eyes are almost black, her gaze intimidating.
"Hello, I'm here for an interview with Mr. Kim" I manage to say, her stare making me even more nervous.
"Name please"
"Jeon Jungkook" I show her my drivers license and she smiles. Somehow, the smile doesn't quite fit her sharp face. I smile back and put my ID back in my brief case.
She nods to herself, checking something on her computer before placing something on the desk. I look down and see it's a pass saying 'visitor' with my name underneath. I take it and attach it to my suit jacket, looking back to see the receptionist on the phone.
I tap my shoe on the marble floor with anxiety, the sound echoing throughout the entryway. I decide to stop before I get any odd looks. She places the phone down and looks back up at me.
"He's ready for you. Just head up to the top floor and you'll see his office"
I nod and bow, saying a quick thank you before heading to the elevator. I press the call button and it lights up under my finger. A moment later, the heavy doors slide open revealing the inside of the elevator. A tall business man steps out, hitting my shoulder in the process.
I sigh and step inside, pressing the number for the top floor.
20.
The doors close behind me and I begin taking deep breaths, trying to calm myself. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't freaking out. My breaths aren't steady at all, my fingers are shaking uncontrollably.
I need to make this work.
I check myself over in the elevator mirror, making sure my hair is in the right place and my tie is straight.
Making me jump, the door slides open revealing a small hallway. There's 3 doors. One is a bathroom, one a storage cupboard and the other with a plaque on the door with gold letters etched into it.
CEO Kim Taehyung
I notice the door is already open, the sound of a keyboard being pressed filtering into the hallway. I knock on the door and open it up. I can now see that the first room is clearly the office for his secretary, a woman with dark hair sitting at a desk clearly having to fill in whilst Taehyung finds a new secretary.
Which is why I'm here.
She looks up at me through large rimmed glasses, her bright red lips curving into a smile.
"Ah, you must be Mr. Jeon, correct"
I nod, stepping into the room and closing the door behind me.
"Just take a seat and he'll be right with you" she gestures to a seat in the far side next to another door, most likely leading to his office.
I oblige, sitting down in a seat and twiddling my thumbs. It's what I do when I'm nervous as a way to distract myself.
Suddenly, his office door swings open revealing Taehyung, dressed in a black suit and white shirt, accompanied by a red tie.
"Good morning Mr. Jeon" he smiles, opening the door for me to enter. I stand up, brief case in hand, and enter the office with a bow and a "morning, Mr. Kim".
His office is nicer than I expected. Windows cover the whole of the far wall, a book shelf taking up most of the wall on the left with a couch in front of it with a stack of books beside it. Filing drawers and cabinets fill most of the right side of the room. In the middle is a long black desk with stacks of paper, files, pens and a coffee cup on top of it. Behind it is a leather black chair, an ordinary seat in front.
"Take a seat" he motions towards the chair in front of the desk, moving to the back of it to sit in his black seat.
I fish around my briefcase and pull out my resume, sliding it across the desk. He takes it, looking it over in detail. I watch as his dark eyes scan the text, occasionally raising his eyebrow or licking his lips. I realise that this must be a habit of his.
He places it back on the desk, a faint smile on his lips.
"I'm impressed. You have a degree in Business and Statistics, hm? I must have a good eye" he chuckles, leaning his elbow on the black wood and resting his chin in his hand. I can smell his cologne. Its not too strong, just how I like it.
"Tell me, why should I employ you?" He says in his low voice as he stares into my eyes like a hypnotist.
"Well... I think I have all the right qualifications for the job--" he leans over and presses a finger to my lips. I freeze, not knowing what to do. He doesn't say anything for a while, just stares at my face with a strange look in his eyes.
"I don't want to hear about your qualifications or past jobs. I want to know about you" he smirks, slowly taking the finger away and resting his arm back into his previous position.
"W-well, I think I would get things done quickly and would make sure everything was working okay--"
"Okay next question" he butts in, leaning even closer. I feel my face heating up and I lower my head to avoid eye contact.
"What do you like to do in your spare time?"
I think for a moment, trying to make my boring life seem impressive. I think back to what Jin said. Just be yourself. I sigh and clear my throat.
"I like to play video games and watch movies. Also I like to go online, hang out with friends and just normal stuff like that" I shrug, still avoiding his gaze.
He chuckles, probably wanting to make fun of me. But he doesn't.
"Ah, interesting! I always wanted to live like that but too bad I'm in a wealthy family with responsibilities of my own" he sighs and I look up at him to see a smile on his lips that somehow looks forced.
Anyways, enough about me" he swishes his hand as if to get rid of the subject. His eyes never leave mine, I notice.
"So, are you a virgin?"
I almost choke on air, my face turning a bright red. "H-huh?!?"
"Just kidding~" he laughs, having to stop himelf from going into hysterics. I swallow hard and chuckle to shake off the awkwardness.
"But judging by your reaction, you cleary are"
My eyes grow wide and I cough awkwardly. Why is he doing this? This is not a normal interview!
"Sorry, that was out of order. I have one more question, though" he clears his throat, leaning back in his chair. I nod and compose myself.
"When I approached you the other day, most people would have said no and left. Why didn't you?" He looks at me waiting for an answer, his eyes glistening.
"Well... I was really desperate for a job but wasn't sure what I wanted. When you offered for me to be your secretary, it was something I could see myself doing so yeah..." I say, fiddling with my fingers.
He nods, slowly.
"Is that all? Not another reason?"
I shake my head, not knowing what else to say.
"Interesting" he mumbles under his breath, rearranging a few papers on his desk.
"Well that's all. I'll get back to you when I can"
I frown. This didn't seem like a proper interview. I shake it off and stand up, grabbing my brief case.
"Thank you very much" I bow and begin to head towards the door. He follows me out, opening the door for me until we reach the small hallway.
Before I head into the elevator, he places a hand on my shoulder, stood just behind me.
"You did well. I hope to see you very soon" he whispers in my ear, suddenly disappearing back into his office.
The heavy metal doors open in front of me, snapping me back to the real world.
I step into the elevator and smile.
