Papers upon papers pile up in my arms, threatening to escape my grasp and flutter down onto the hallway floor. I attempt to clutch onto them like my life depends on it, only to walk straight into a figure, papers raining down and crashing onto the marble like a white wave surge.
Looking up with wide eyes, my gaze is met with a stone cold one, glaring at me through dark bangs.
"Yoongi hyung! I'm so sorry!" I yelp and bend down to retrieve the sea of paper decorating the hallway. He heaves a sigh and joins me, collecting up the various pieces.
"It's fine, just watch where you're going next time" he grumbles, handing over a small stack of paper and planting it on my own pile that I collected. He helps me up with a tug on the arm and what I think was a quick smile.
"Yeah, I will" I laugh nervously and grin at the elder, shorter male. Yoongi stares at me for a few moments, frowning.
"You look tired. Are you okay?" He tilts his head, breaking the silence. I cast my eyes towards the glass door to my left, understanding what he means. I look a mess. My hair looks like it was never brushed, skin sickeningly pale and large eyebags droop from my slightly bloodshot eyes. I'm shattered.
"Umm, not especially..."
His right hand clutches onto my sleeve, pulling me with him as he storms down the corridor. I struggle to keep the papers in my arms, shifting them to a better position so they don't cascade down onto the marble once again. He stops at a door that I recognize as Mark's office, swinging the door open and letting go of the material on my blazer. I glance towards the desk, only to see an empty leather seat.
"Where's Mark?" I ask as I plant the pile of papers on a mahogany table. Yoongi turns to look at me from his position in front of a coffee machine, gesturing for me to sit down. I perch on a comfy armchair that doesn't help my tired state.
"He's in Japan for business reasons. I'm in charge whilst he's gone" the raven haired male explains as the sound of the machine fills the room. I nod and lean back in the chair, wanting to fall asleep.
"Why did you bring me here?" I query with curiosity, watching as Yoongi retrieves a mug that has the word 'swag' painted across it in large gold letters, placing it under the machine as it dispenses warm coffee.
"I thought you might need a caffeine boost... And a talk" He answers like it was obvious. After a short wait, he takes the swag mug from under the machine and strolls over, sliding the steaming drink across the table.
"Thanks" I smile and sit up, deciding to wait for it to cool. I'm not going through that again.
"Nice watch"
I stare up at him with confusion but then realise what he's talking about. Decorating my wrist is a leather wristwatch with a gold face and silver hands.
"Oh, thank you! Taehyung got it for me..." I trail off, biting the inside of my cheek. He looks at me the way a doctor would examine his patient.
"The fuck, is he some kinda sugar daddy or what?" Yoongi raises an eyebrow and chuckles to himself, clearly amused at his own remark.
"Umm, no..."
He raises a hand for me to stop talking and I oblige, glueing my lips together and sucking in a sharp breath.
"Why are you so tired? What happened?" His usual intimidating gaze is replaced with one of genuine concern as he leans forward. I struggle for the right words to say; how to phrase it without sounding stupid.
"Well..." I take a deep breath and avoid his stare.
"Tae and I kissed b-but I pushed him away before it went too far a-and I thought it was the right thing to do..."
"And now you feel guilty?"
I look up at him and sigh, with both relief and sorrow. Relief because he didn't react badly and sorrow as he's right.
"Yes"
Yoongi nods and fixes a piece of his hair, tapping a finger on his knee in time with the ticking of the clock on the far wall.
"Have you spoken to him since?"
"No. It happened Friday night and I avoided him all of this morning. I kept trying to make myself busy so I wouldn't have to face him. It's annoying. I want to see him and tell him I'm sorry but then I don't know what I'm sorry for. Not wanting to hook up with my boss?"
I take a sip of the coffee and gulp it down, trying to distract myself. The male opposite hums in agreement.
"I understand. You're worried it's just a simple hook up and don't want it to be with your boss. But is it? Is it just a hook up? Or is it something more?" Yoongi pries, leaning his head in a hand propped up on the side of the armchair.
His words spiral inside my head like a swirling void, mixing with all my emotions. Is he right? Or is Taehyung just a player? I need answers but I don't know where to get them.
A voice rings inside my head, familiar and friendly but tinged with regret.
"He wasn't ever interested in having a relationship. I confronted him about it and he said he had trust issues and was worried they'd leave him for someone else."
"Yoongi, how long have you known Taehyung?" I ask without hesitation, slamming my mug on the table with a thud. Some of the coffee subsides and spills down the pottery, disrespecting the freshly polished hardwood.
"A few years, why?"
"Has he ever had any relationships since you've known him?" I bounce back and he sits back in his seat in realisation of what I'm implying.
"He did once, last year. His boyfriend broke up with him for another guy I'm pretty sure. Apart from that, I don't think there's been any others" Yoongi says, looking deep in his thoughts. I sigh and rake a hand through my hair.
"Maybe he's not a player after all..." I whisper to myself, biting my lip.
"What?"
"Doesn't matter" I sigh and rise from my seat. The elder male furrows his eyebrows with confusion and curiosity.
"Hey, are you coming to the party tomorrow night?" Yoongi asks as I make my way towards the door.
"Wait, so that party thing was real?" I gasp. Parties aren't exactly my sort of thing but I'm sure it will be fun.
"Yeah, it's fancy dress too so make sure you get an outfit" he smirks and chuckles to himself for a reason unknown to me and follows me out.
"Okay, thank you hyung. You helped a lot" I smile and grab the stack of papers that belong to me before exiting the room.
"No problem, kid"
-x-
"Jin hyung, I need your help!"
"So now you come running to me, hm?"
I'm stood outside Jin and Namjoon's apartment, the door opened up to reveal a pink haired male wearing a sweater with the word 'princess' sewed into the front.
"Look, I need a fancy dress outfit for a party and I thought you might have some" I explain, still out of breath from running up the stairs to the top floor. The elevator was helplessly broken.
"And what makes you think I have some?" He tilts his head and I groan, pushing past him and into the apartment.
"NAMJOON, WHERE DOES JIN KEEP HIS WEIRD KINKY ASS SHIT?"
"IN THE CLOSET NEXT TO THE BATHROOM"
"THANKS"
I storm over to the closet and fling it open, revealing an assortment of dresses, suits, animal outfits and strange accessories.
"H-hey, don't go through all that!" Jin panics, waving his hands around and pulling me away from the collection.
"I'll find something for you" he sighs and begins searching.
I roll my eyes and hang back, watching as Namjoon enters the room in just a towel, screams, and runs back into the bathroom.
"Aha! This is perfect!" Jin squeals and holds out a garment. He flings it at me and I use my quick reflexes to catch it and hold it out in front of me.
The outfit consists of a black and white dress, white stockings, thigh choker, a neck choker with a bell and bunny ears. My eyes widen at the sight and I give Jin a look of disgust.
"I'm not wearing this"
"Don't you wanna impress that kinky boss of yours?" Jin giggles and retrieves some black flats with tiny bows from the bottom of the closet where the shoes are kept.
"No! I don't want to look like a slut!" I shout, probably loud enough for the neighbours to hear.
"Yes you do" Namjoon adds, now in the room fully clothed.
"Do you have anything else?" I sigh, practically begging.
"Nope" Jin closes the closet with a bang, causing Namjoon to drop his spaghetti.
"Mom's spaghetti!" He screams and dives for a dustpan and brush. Jin looks at his boyfriend bewildered and then fixes his eyes back onto me.
"It's that or nothing. Take it or leave it"
"Fine, I'll take it"
-x-
I hoist on the dress, bending my arms to tie the corset-like ribbons at the back. I ignore the fact I can hardly breathe and gracefully wrap the lace choker around my right thigh followed by the pristine white stockings. Each stocking is topped with a black bow with a small silver gem in the centre. Slipping on the flats and collar-like choker around my neck, I look up at myself in the bathroom mirror. Retrieving the missing accessory, I slide the black bunny ears onto my head to finish the look.
I can't help but blush just looking at my appearance. The eyeliner I put on earlier makes my large eyes stand out, cheeks rosy with blusher and lips tinted pink. Jin told me to leave out the nose and whiskers as it would "lose the sexy vibe" I obliged and left my nose bare.
Sliding my phone into the pocket of my dress, I drag myself out of the bathroom and towards my apartment door. I take a deep breath, unlock it, and step out into the hallway, releasing the air built up in my lungs.
The image of Taehyung suddenly flashes into my vision, face close to mine with a look of lust and longing. For so long I thought it was a facade but now I've realised the truth. He loves me and I was too dumb to see it. That's why tonight is important.
I have to take him back.
