Jungkook's POV
"Jungkook-ah! Come here!"
I groan and rise from my seat behind the wooden desk already covered with stacks of paper. All day Taehyung has been calling me in and out of his office to run his errands; my legs are beginning to ache.
I open the door and am pleasantly surprised to see Taehyung next to his personal coffee machine instead of asking me to do it.
"Ah, Jungkook! Take a seat over there, make yourself comfortable" he points over at a leather armchair in the corner of the room next to the bookcase. I slump into the seat, sighing with bliss.
It's much more comfy compared to the hard leather chair in my office.
"Do you take sugar in your coffee?" He calls over, waving around a pot of sugar cubes in his hand.
"Two please" I holler back, holding up two fingers and smiling. It's weird seeing Taehyung not working or being formal. I watch as he skips over, careful not to spill the coffee as he hands it to me.
"Thank you" I say before taking a sip. I immediately pull it away, cringing. Too hot. He chuckles as I stick out my burnt tongue, placing my coffee cup on the table in between our chairs.
"You should be more careful..." Taehyung sighs, putting down his own coffee and leaning back in his chair.
"So, how is your first day going? Do you like it here? Or will you leave?" His voice drops at the last question, wavering slightly. I shrug it off and lean back in my own chair.
"No, I like it. It will take some getting used to but it's going well, thank you" I reassure him, offering a smile which he returns. Only now have I realised that his boxy smile causes his eyes to scrunch up and dimples to show.
"Now that you've almost finished your first day, I thought I'd put some rules in place. Nothing serious" he adds, picking up his coffee before taking a large gulp. He places it on his knee before continuing after I nod.
"First of all, always make me a coffee in the morning. Three sugars. I always need a boost in the morning else I'm grouchy..." Taehyung chuckles, raking a hand through his soft hair.
"Okay!" I giggle slightly, imagining him looking rough and tired.
"Great! Okay so next, if someone comes up to your office to see me uninvited, don't let them in. If they won't leave, call up security"
I nod and decide to test out my coffee. I take a small sip and am pleasantly surprised to not burn my mouth. It's the perfect temperature. Taking larger sips, I listen to what else Taehyung has to say.
"Feel free to come into my office when you're not busy. You can sit and read a book if you like, as long as I'm not having a meeting with anyone" he gestures to the large array of books neatly stacked on the bookshelf in rows of colours. Each book has a stamp on the spine reading 'property of Kim Taehyung'. I can't help but smile.
"Now the last thing..." His expression turns more serious as he looks at me. He leans forward and places a hand on my knee. I take the coffee cup away from my lips, my hands slightly shaking.
"You will do as I say, do you understand?"
His voice is low and intimidating. I struggle to find the words to say, my brain a jumble and my legs gone to jelly. I take a deep breath to calm myself and speak.
"Yes, Mr. Kim"

Stepping out into the cold, I leave the warmth of the Geonban building and face the harsh winds of the busy street. The warmth of the coffee I drank has faded away and now the pit of my stomach is cold like the rest of my body.
I begin making my way towards my apartment building, only just walking distance from my workplace. I make a mental note to look into bus travel or perhaps purchase a scarf.
"Jungkook?"
I spin around to see a tall male, a beaming smile just visible under a fluffy red scarf. I recognize him as the man from the elevator, Hoseok.
"Oh, hi again" I smile as he catches up to me, walking along side me down the street.
"How was your first day?" He asks, shoving his hands inside his pockets. His hair is slightly messy from the wind, cheeks rosy.
"It was okay. Hard work but I guess I expected that" I sigh, a spiral of white floating from my mouth and into the air like smoke.
He nods and puts an arm around my shoulder. I can't figure out whether he's being friendly or simply trying to warm me up.
"You'll get used to it. How's Taehyung?" His expression changes to something curious and another emotion I can't put a finger on.
"U-umm he's nice..." Is all I say. For some reason, sentences fail to form in my head whenever he is the subject of conversation.
"I see..."
My curiosity gets the better of me and I can't help but itch to ask the question which has been playing on my mind, trampling my thoughts.
"How do you know Taehyung? Just through work?"
Hoseok huffs and his bright smile merges into one more subtle.
"We used to go to school together. We were very close."
"What was he like?"
"He was always the class heartthrob but, for some unknown reason, he wasn't ever interested in having a relationship. I confronted him about it and he said he had trust issues and was worried they'd leave him for someone else. He's confusing, that Taehyung. Don't let him get to your head. He's good at manipulating people"
I take in all the information and things start to make sense.
Do you like it here? Or will you leave?
He was worried I would leave him for another job.
"Oh" I reply as we turn a corner. He must live in the same area as me, I realise.
"I'm sure he's fine now..." Hoseok trails off with a rather sad face.
"Are you two still friends?"
"Well... Not really. He doesn't really talk to me anymore after-- never mind" he quickly stops himself and I can't help but be suspicious.
"After what?"
I feel his arm fall from my shoulder and he seperates himseld from me.
"I'm heading this way. I'll see you tomorrow!" He calls out before turning down another street. He avoided my question. What the hell happened between them?
I heave another sigh as I approach my apartment block and make my way into the lobby before taking the stairs. Every step seems to weaken my legs after a long day at the office. I fumble for my keys in my pocket and fish them out, unlocking my door once I reach the right level.
I fling open the door and frown with confusion. The smell of fresh cooking fills the air and I turn to see...
Jin.
"Jin what the fuck are you doing in my apartment... again? Oh hi Namjoon"
"Hi"
"But seriously, you can't keep sneaking into my apartment! I gave you my key in case of an emergency"
Jin laughs and sits on a bar stool next to his boyfriend, Namjoon. He's wearing an apron that says 'kiss the cook'.
"I'm making you dinner after your long day at work. You should be thankful!" He smiles sheepishly, straightening up his pink hair.
"Oh okay...thank you" I smile back and kick off my shoes.
"By the way, nice new hair"
Jin grins and pats his newly dyed hair.
"Thank you, Namjoonie told me I should do it. It suits me, don't ya think?"
I hum in response, collapsing onto the leather couch and watching as the couple smile at each other.
"So how was your first day?" Namjoon asks, spinning on the bar stool childishly before Jin mutters something about him breaking it. He soon stops.
"It was alright. Tiresome but alright" I stretch out my legs and groan, feeling the burn.
"Well I'm sure some good food will make you feel better" Jin perks up, standing from the bar stool and returning back to behind the kitchen counter.
I decide to rest on the couch and close my eyes. I get comfortable and relax. The fatigue from work, the smell of homely food and the quiet hum of cars below slowly sends me to the realm of sleep.
