Chapter 18
Yemisi
I picked up the phone, my heart pounding. "Hello, found anything?" Ireti asked.
"I think I have leads," I replied, my voice barely audible.
"How much do you know about THS?" I questioned.
"Not much, but what do you want to know exactly?" she answered.
"I suspect a male teacher," I said, my tone low and menacing.
"Really! Why?" she exclaimed.
"Alessia mentioned Mr. ____ in her diary, and their 'deal' was to help her improve her grades in exchange for something. But she didn't write the payment, and the deal has been effective for over three years," I explained.
"That's since JSS 3," she replied, her voice filled with disbelief.
"Hmm," I murmured.
"I'm not exactly a 'teacher's pet,' so I don't think I know much," she admitted.
"But I know someone in your class who does, Sarah Bello," she suggested. "She's been in THS since infancy and her dad has been the head of teachers for five years now. If anybody has info on teachers in THS, it would be her."
"Thanks," I said, ending the call.
Sarah, Sarah. She's perfect. I picked up my phone and called her.
"Hello Sarah, how are you?" I asked, my voice calm but determined.
"I'm doing well, is there anything I can do for you?" she replied, her tone slightly guarded.
"Well..." I began, my mind racing.
"I heard the news about your assault and expulsion from your previous school," she interrupted, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "You really have a lot up your sleeves, Yemisi, don't you?"
"I don't think any of that concerns you, so why don't I do the interrogations? Do you know of any male teachers who have relationships with female students?" I retorted, my anger rising.
"I think I deserve the response you gave me now, so I won't say a thing. Regarding your question, I'm not really sure, but what kind of relationships are you looking for?" she replied, her tone softening slightly.
"Any type at all," I said, my voice barely a whisper.
"Okay, I think I've a few rumors about sexual harassment," she replied, her voice hesitant.
My heart pounded in my chest. Just what I was looking for.
"Any teachers surrounding those rumors?" I asked, my voice barely audible.
"I think it was Mr. Austin?" she replied, her voice filled with uncertainty.
"You mean, our Physics teacher and assistant HOT(Head ?" I asked, my voice laced with disbelief.
"Yes, but they are likely rumors. When I asked my dad, that's what he said," she replied.
"Your dad and Mr. Austin must be really close?" I inquired, my suspicions growing.
"Yes, they're best friends," she replied.
I chuckled, my mind racing. "Thanks so much, Sarah."
"One more thing, I need your dad's number for a little more confirmation," I told her.
"I'll send it to you," she replied.
Immediately, Sarah's message came in. I dialed her dad's number.
"Hello, Mr. Bello," I greeted, my voice steady.
"Yes, who is this?" he asked, his voice stern.
"I'm Yemisi Adekunle, your new student," I replied.
"Oh, the one who carries trouble around her," he remarked, his tone dismissive.
I huffed.
"Yes, that's me," I said, my voice filled with a quiet determination.
"I have been doing some investigations and they led me to a possible reason why Alessia was killed: Sexual Assault," I informed him, my voice audible.
"So your point is," he asked, his voice cold.
"She was killed in school, so I suspect a male teacher," I replied, my voice barely a whisper.
"Do you have any teacher in mind?" he asked, his voice filled with disbelief.
"No teacher would dare, whether it's your hunch or source there seems to be something wrong" he attacked, his voice rising.
"I never said anything about hunches and sources, I just laid out facts from my investigation," I retorted, my voice growing stronger.
"But honestly, Mr. Bello, I really doubted it was true, thanks for letting me know the truth," I said, my voice filled with sarcasm.
I ended the call, my heart pounding in my chest.
I really suspected Mr. Austin and Mr. Bello. One the culprit, the other the accomplice.
I picked up my phone to call Ireti when her call came in.
"Great Timing," I said, my voice filled with anticipation.
"Not at all," she replied, her voice sounding worried.
"Why?" I asked, my heart sinking.
"My blog's information source claims Kayode turned himself in for Alessia's murder," she said, her voice trembling.
"That is not true," I claimed, my voice filled with disbelief.
"Where is he?" she asked, her voice filled with fear.
I went around the house searching for him but couldn't find him.
"He's not here," I said, my voice filled with dread.
"Which police station?" I asked, my voice barely a whisper.
