EP || Yellow
Prerequisite: Music helps set the mood, so as much as possible, I guess you should listen to the songs I put before the chapter starts. I mean, that is if you want to.

EPILOGUE :: YELLOW
5 MONTHS AFTER
WEDNESDAY
9:54 AM
Do people still believe in fate? Because right now, I think I do.
This was the opening statement of the vow you have written and practiced over and over again. You had every word and line memorized by now but you still recite it whenever you feel like you've forgotten it because it never really occurred to you that this day would arrive. You had waited for a very long time for this and finally being here feels like a dream--you felt like you were on cloud nine. You stared out of the window and grinned. This was going to be the start of a new life--a new chapter--with the person you have fallen in love with.
You kept thinking to yourself about the past few years you have been together. Everything was so simple yet it broke you, it built you, it changed you, and it shaped you into who and what you are now. It was the most challenging years of your life and you were sure there were still more coming but this time, you weren't going to face them alone.
You were sucked back to your surroundings when Mina had gushed over how pretty you looked with your simple makeup. Your face never really needed that much work since you were naturally pretty and Keigo specifically asked for a light and simple makeup. People were starting to get busy as the ceremony closes in with every ticking second and you smiled to the mirror in front of you, watching as your eyes sparkled and your lips curving upwards. You repeated your vow once more in your head.
'I'm ready,' you thought as you stood up and walked to your simple yellow wedding dress, slowly putting it on while your bridesmaids helped you.
The moment I first saw you, I doubted fate.
Keigo paced around his assigned room while Dabi watched him. He kept thinking about how this would go and it was making him nervous and excited--but mostly, excited. He was excited to finally live the life he thought would just be a dream. Many times Keigo had dreamt about marrying you and waiting for you to walk down the aisle and now that it's just a few hours from now, he didn't want this to be just another one of his dreams that he'd end up waking up to. He fixed the tip-sleeve of his tuxedo before fixing his tie.
"What's got you so nervous, Hawks?" Dabi finally couldn't hold himself from his silence. He was the one getting dizzy from Keigo's walking around the room. As a matter of fact, Fumikage already stopped watching Keigo and rested his head on the top of his palm. "I'm just not used to this. It is my first time getting married," Keigo blurted out stupidly to which Dabi just laughed at. Keigo positioned his hands on his hips and his shoulders raised and fell down as he sighed. Keigo checked the watch and yelped as he saw that time was drawing near.
"Sir, this has been one of your lifelong dreams. There's nothing that can go wrong." Fumikage assured him. Dabi nodded at Fumikage's statement and finally, Keigo sat down on the bed--tired from all that walking around. "I'm sure it will all turn out the way you want it too." Dabi stood up, grabbing the yellow heart pin and pinning it on Keigo's tuxedo. "Now, let's get going. We don't want to be late for the ceremony."
I doubted fate because it showed me life could be so unfair.
It is how when you things want to turn out your way, it just doesn't.
Standing near the wedding arch, Keigo waited for his bride to be. Keigo tapped his foot on the floor, biting his lower lip and watching as people started to fill the small garden. Fumikage, one of his best men, stood near him. Of course, both of you decided to have a garden wedding and invited your closest relatives and friends. However, most of the visitors come from your side of the coin and only a few were his (including his parents). Keigo then watched at the two empty seats on your side, the ones for your parents. He hoped that they would be so proud watching you finally walking down the aisle on this fateful day.
Because fate, even if we hate it most of the time, it gives us what we need.
Your heart was beating right out of your chest and your eardrums were about to explode due to the extreme pressure your heart was building up right now. You were still seated at a car, waiting for the cue to go outside and finally being able to see your loved ones and your lovely soon to be husband, Keigo. It was when Dabi knocked on the car's window that you smiled eagerly and felt all your nervousness wash away. You got out of the car and Momo, your maid of honor, helped smoothen out your dress once both of you were out.
"You look stunning, (your name)." Dabi smiled as he held out his arm for you to link with. Dabi was the one you chose to take you down the aisle. "Thank you, Dabi!" you beamed and held on tightly to your bouquet of yellow roses. Dabi didn't regret agreeing to take you down the aisle because he realized, while he was walking around and waiting for your car to arrive, that this was such an important milestone in your and his best friend's life. He wouldn't want to miss it.
The ceremony began shortly after you had gotten out of the car. As you were walking down the aisle, you could hear the music playing in your ears. The event hasn't even ended yet and you were already wanting to cry your eyes out of happiness. You felt soft as people watched in awe as you walked with Dabi. "Don't cry now, you'll ruin your makeup," Dabi whispered in your ear and you playfully hit him with the bouquet. Keigo's gaze softened as he watched how you gracefully walked down the aisle. His heart ached--in a good way--and he didn't even notice his own tears falling on the side of his cheek until Fumikage handed him a handkerchief.
When you were finally in front of Keigo, he grabbed your hand and kissed it, his soft lips felt warm to your cold hands. He guided you to your chair and both of you stood in front of the priest. As the priest began to talk, Keigo went closer to your ear to whisper something. "You look really pretty in yellow," he smiled lightly. "I'm glad to be the one beside you."
And right now, fate believes that you are all I need.
I promise to take care of you and love you unconditionally because that is what you deserve from me, your wife.
Before you know it, you were already reciting the vow that you had memorized for months. You could see Keigo slightly tearing up and just looking up to the sky to avoid his tears from falling as if he hadn't been bawling his eyes out the moment you walked to the altar. You thought this was such a cute sight to see. You've only seen a few people cry for you and you always felt guilty when they do--but this just felt right.
"There is no reason for me not to follow through because you are mine and I am yours," you stated the final line of your vow and Keigo was already a crying mess. He wasn't sobbing though but his tears just wouldn't stop falling down. You started to cry as well and he grabbed a handkerchief from his pocket and dabbed it lightly to your eyes, careful not to ruin your make up.
"Don't cry, sunflower. I haven't even started speaking yet."
You laughed at his statement and ran your tongue across your lower lip. He took a deep breath and began to state his own vow.
"I was listening to this song the other day and it reminded me of how much we've been through these past few years. Younger me thought that destiny, fate, and all that stuff was for people who were apprehensive. They were for people who were far-flung in life." He stopped and stared into your eyes. "And maybe, I was far-flung... but then, fate... she brought me to you or she brought you to me and I could never be more thankful than I am."
You felt your blood rise to your cheeks and you bit your lower lip before listening to him again.
"I promise you that no matter what happens, I will always be here with you. I promise you that no harm will come to you and to our future family. And I will always strive to become a better person... because that's what you showed me. I love you, sunflower." Moments passed and you both were finally able to say your "I do's".
"You may now kiss the bride."
Slowly, Keigo placed the veil behind you and he started to laugh while staring at you. You squinted and scrunched your nose out of confusion. "I don't know why I'm laughing but I'm really happy right now." He said while flashing his signature smile at you, making your heart flutter and your stomach queasy. Keigo then winked at you, making you take a deep breath before pulling you by the waist and kissing you passionately in front of your guests. They cheered and everyone stood up from their seats to clap at both of you--the newlyweds.
When both of you pulled away, you stared into Keigo's eyes and he stared back into yours. Love glistened in both your eyes and all it took was just to look into them. People have no idea what both of you were thinking and it didn't really take much for both of you to understand that language. Again, it was just another way of saying that both of you were truly meant to be. "Nice pin, by the way." you complimented Keigo while tapping on the pin that was attached to his tuxedo. "Thank you. Dabi helped me pick this one." Keigo offered his arm to you and gladly, you linked your arms together and walked to the bridal car.
This truly was the best day of your lives.
And this was the start of a new chapter in your lives—the start of your happily ever after.
