1. My House Nearly Gets Incinerated
This, is the Fire Nation.
True to its name, it's well, filled with burning fire and the occasional lightning.
The plants that grow here are tough, spicy and fiery, just like the people that grow here.
We've a beautiful view of the sunrise, sunsets and comets .
We help those other countries without technology like ours.
We help improve the world, or so they say....
My name?Dagny Rei Huo. It's supposed to mean a new day and lightning, so that I'll grow up to be a firebending master. Unfortunately, I've grown to be a firebending failure. Good with a bow and arrow, though. I've tried and tried, but firebending? Meh. I'm just not cut out for it.

'Okay. Okay. Breathe in...' I thought, the metal rod scratching against my bracers. I stretched the bowstring just a little further. 'Let go.' I breathed out, just as the thin metallic line of the arrow flew through the air. I quickly slung my bow behind my back and readied myself when the arrowhead lodged itself in the target.
My little sister, On Ji, was a firebending master. Sort of. She was really good at it. But didn't really brag that much.
She grinned, her brown-grey eyes sparkling.
Two fingers pointed on each hand, she waved them around in a special motion. Up and around, down , separate the energy. A slight hiss was heard, then, the energy came crashing back, sparking up at the tips of her nails. She played around with it, not wanting to lose it. The cobalt blue light swirled around in the palm of her hands. She cringed. Oopsie, energy overload! She spun around and shot the lightning at the metal piece, not one hair out of place.
The metal absorbed it and the lightning spread like wildfire, destroying the wooden target in one swift move.
Unfortunately, the stupid grass near it caught on fire." Oh dear." I muttered, running over to extinguish the flames. I held up the bucket of water that I'd prepared earlier and dumped it all over the fire. The flames roared and cackled, and grew even stronger. What the-- The water- or so I thought- Made the flames burn even stronger?!
I sniffed the wooden bucket. A faint alcoholic scent wafted out. Oh no. Only one person in my family would ever play a prank like this on me. " ON JI!" I shrieked. She sat on a stump next to the disaster area. "What?" was all my little sister asked, her face all angel-like. I pointed at the fire. She shrugged, blowing up her bangs.
" You can extinguish it. With your bending and all, can't you? After all, you wouldn't let the entire estate burn down because of your reluctance of yellow fire, would you?" She said with a flip of her neat ponytail.
I looked at her, then at the roaring fire, which was spreading fast.
"UGH! I hate you so much at times like these!" I yelled back.
I took a stance and threw out a ball of pale yellow flames. It flew for a bit, then, as soon as it touched the other flames, they collided and dissolved into air. The green grass was a charred mess. I bent down and looked at one of the singed leaves of a tiny sprout. I poked the leaf with my finger. It cracked and fell.
"Bravo, Rei. Bravo. See? Your firebending isn't that bad." My sister clapped. I glared at her and started in a prissy voice, "For committing this horrible crime, I now find you guilty. You will be rendered of your dessert privileges for a month." Her mouth was slightly ajar. I continued." And as for the victim, aka me, will receive those delicious puddings and cakes as compensation." I stuck my tongue out at her.
"Hey! I object to this sentence!" She yelled.
"Riiiiight. And who's gonna stop me? Dad? Then you'll have to tell him that you almost set the house on fire!" I retorted. She clamped her mouth shut, mashing her lips. She grumbled and walked away.
I shook my head at her. Silly girl.she was only a few years younger than me. Thirteen, and an incurable prankster, yet so angelic in front of the teachers. I looked to see a flower on fire. I sighed and flicked some yellow fire at it. The fire was gone in an instant, leaving the flower unharmed.
I groaned at my sad state of firebending. Anything my fire touches, if it's still alive, my fire can return it back to its previous state. My fire--pale yellow flames--can only extinguish other color fires, but not make it stronger like it should be.
I'm the one firebender that can't set anything on fire.

A/n
So, I'm pretty sure that you wouldn't want to see an annoying Author's Note on the FIRST chapter, but yeah. I've decided to change the main character's name to Dagny Rei.
