Third person's pov

The men threw her unconscious body on the very same silent street from where they kidnapped her.

It's been a week since Dhriti's kidnap. The police was trying hard to find her as well as her culprits but was unsuccessful. Her sister Swati was still in Mohali along with Atharva. She was not talking to anyone and always sitting alone since a week. Atharva and his family were tensed for both Dhriti and Swati.

Dhriti's family didn't care much. They were busy in wedding functions of their lovely son Rakshit. They were just tensed that involvement of police has effected their family's reputation. Rakshit was disappointed with his family's behaviour.

He was tensed for his sister and was getting daily updates of his sister's missing case on regular basis from Atharva.

Like everyday Rakshit called Atharva to know about dhriti's case:

Rakshit- "Hello Atharva.. "

Atharva- "Hello yes bhaiya (brother)..
I know why you have called.. There is still no information.."

Rakshit cut the call. He was regretting not picking up his sister's call that day. He was angry with himself that he was not able to protect her sister. He was regretting ignoring his sisters throughout his life.

Just as Atharva placed the phone on table after Rakshit's call, he received a call from police officer who was head of Dhriti's case.

Officer- "Hello Mr. Atharva our team has found an unconscious girl on the same place where we have found Dhriti's phone.... Maybe she is Dhriti only but.....her condition is not good.. Our team has taken her to XYZ Hospital.. you should come soon"

Atharva was happy to listen that finally Dhriti is found but was tensed when he heard that her condition is not good. He informed Swati and his family but didn't tell them about her condition being unwell. They rushed to hospital.

XYZ Hospital

They reached hospital and saw head officer there. Atharva went to him followed by his family. He thanked him and asked about Dhriti's condition.

Officer- "Well Mr. Atharva i think its better to ask doctor only...
When we found her she was in a bit compromising condition"

They were confused and not able to understand what police officer wanted to say.

Atharva's Dad- "My child what are you talking about.. what happened to Dhriti.. please tell clearly.."

Officer- "Uncle we... actually...when we found Dhriti , her whole body was covered with bruises , blood was oozing out of them and her clothes were torn... I am not sure... But i think this is case of Rape and abuse.."

He spoke with sadness in his voice as it was difficult for him to tell girl's condition to her family specially when the persons are known to him.

Swati , Atharva and his parents were shocked to hear that. They were not able to react that what has happened with such an innocent soul. Swati for whom Dhriti was her soul sister, friend and just like her own child went numb. Atharva didn't know how to console Swati as he himself was not able to think anything.

Atharva along with his father went to doctor's cabin.

Doctor- "Hello sir.. please have a seat.. Mr. Malhotra.. right?? "

Atharva- "No doctor.. I am Atharva Sachdeva and he is my dad..."

Doctor gave them strange look and spoke- "Sorry you are Dhriti's..?"

Atharva- "Doctor i am Dhriti's brother in law... How is she??"

Doctor- "Oh!! Alright Mr. Sachdeva... About Dhriti she is out of danger but her condition is not stable..
She has bruises all over her body...
Her entire body is severely injured...
Looking at her marks it seems that someone has hit her with very strong and sharp object maybe a belt, rope or something like that....
There are bites on her neck and other parts of body..."

Atharva eyes got teared after listening to doctor. He was afraid to ask but still did ask in fearful tone -
"Doctor.... Has she been raped??"

Doctor- "No Mr. Sachdeva by god's grace its not the case of rape...
But she has been sexually harassed and beaten mercilessly.... Even i was shocked to see marks on her body while treating her.. I don't know how can anyone be so much inhumane ??
And Mr. Sachdeva we have also find a kind of drug in her body.."

Atharva- "Which kind of drug?"

Doctor- "This kind of drug is used to control functioning of human mind.. it makes human body numb and person is not able to react or oppose anything. The quantity of drug was a bit high. It seems that she has been drugged on regular basis. "

Atharva- "Doctor is she awake now.?? When can we meet her.. "

Doctor- "She is not responding to our medicines as of now due to overdosage of drug. She will be awake after a day or soo. Her body is really tired. Let her rest for a while"

They thanked the doctor and went outside cabin. Swati and Atharva's mom was waiting for them. They were a bit hesitant but told everything which doctor told them.
Swati who was too numb to react started sobbing. All of sudden she picked up her phone and called Rakshit to hospital.

Rakshit came and was really worried as Swati just asked him to come urgently without explaining anything.
He went where Swati was sitting with her family. He shared a look with other members. Swati looked up from ground and dragged Rakshit to window of Dhriti's room from where her conscious body attached with many tubes can be seen.

Rakshit was hurt to see Dhriti on hospital bed and lot of tubes attached to her body. He looked at their faces for explaination.

Swati said in firm voice- "Congratulations Mr. Malhotra. I think now you will be really happy and highly satisfied to see her in such condition. She has been mercilessly beaten and sexually harassed.
Sad news is she is STILL ALIVE....
This is what happened when you fuc*ing ignore her when she asked for her help...
But it doesn't matter to you right??
She is no one to you..
I am really sorry to call you and waste your time here...
I think you should go and enjoy your wedding..."

Rakshit was not able reply her as he knew that he was at fault also. He talked to Atharva for a while and went back home not before asking him to call him once Dhriti wakes up.

Next Day

Atharva and Swati never left Dhriti's side. They were waiting for her to open her eyes. Doctor checked her and told them that Dhriti was finally awake. The went to her room .

Dhriti's pov

I woke up with a lot of pain in my body. I saw myself lying on bed and someone was asking me about my health. I looked at my surroundings , my body was attached to some tubes and i was in hospital gown. I opened my eyes with great difficulty.

After a minute i saw Swati Dii and Atharva jiju entering room. My eyes got teared up. I got assured that now i am finally safe...

I just wanted to hug dii and hid into her arms for protection.

Sensing my emotions dii came to me and enclosed me in a bear hug.
This was it... I finally broke down and hugged her. We both were sobbing and not ready to leave each other. Jiju joined us in group hug and patted my head.

I cried to dii-
"Diii.. diii.. he... He touched everywhere.. he hit me... He ...
He hit me with belt... I requested him... I begged him but he didn't stop... He forced himself on me , i wanted to stop, I tried but wasn't able to.....
My body was not reacting according to my mind......."

I started having panic attack. All the scenes were flashing in the front of my eyes and then everything blacked out....

Third person's pov

After Dhriti got panic attack, doctor injected her and informed Swati and Atharva not to worry as it will happen for few times because memories are fresh in her mind.

They both came out of her room.
They were upset looking at their sister's condition but they were glad that finally she is front of them. The case was still going on but culprit was not found.

They were thinking about her condition when a young boy and girl of Dhriti's age came there and introduced themselves as Dhriti's friends.

Manan- "Hello.....
I am Manan and she is Shruti... We are dhriti's best friends.
We got to know that Dhriti is found and has been admitted in hospital so we came here to meet her."

Swati- "Hello... Thanks for coming.. she is unconscious so you guys will not be able to meet her."

Manan- "Oh okay.. no issues we will come back later.. please do inform if you need any help..."

They went back not before Manan giving an evil smirk to unconscious Dhriti.

Rakshit started coming to visit Dhriti regularly but he never went to her room. He would ask about her health from Atharva and see her from window.

Soon it was Rakshit's wedding day. He wanted to postpone his wedding but his family was not ready for it. They wanted a lavish wedding for the elder son of their family. But he has his own plans 😏. He got married to his love but in a simple wedding at nearby temple against his family's wish.
He cancelled their bookings of posh hotels and resorts for wedding and reception.

After a week Dhriti got discharged. She was advised to do complete bed rest. Swati took dhriti to her in-laws home. There she was welcomed with love and care.

Two days later, Swati went to Bangalore along with Atharva due to their job commitments. She wanted to take Dhriti with her but Dhriti had her final exams. She promised dhriti to come back after a month.

Dhriti was completely taken care of by Atharva's parents. She was feeling so much loved for the first time in her life. Here she hasn't been called as burden. Atharva's parents were also happy to have Dhriti in their home. They have finally got a daughter in their home.

Dhriti had her final exams in a week. She called Rakshit and requested him to bring her books here.
Next day Rakshit bought her books to
'Sachdeva's Home' .

Rakshit- "Dhriti..how are you ??"

Dhriti was not feeling comfortable talking to him. She was hurt that his brother was not there to help her.

She spoke in bit hurt tone-
"I am fine bhaiya... urgh.sorry.. sir..
I am really thankful to you for bringing my books and
Am really sorry to waste your time...
I wouldn't bother you hereafter"

After speaking this she went to room assigned to her not bothering about his response.
That day Rakshit realised that he has lost both of his sisters due to his own mistakes.

Soon Dhriti's exams started. She was bit hesitant because it was the first time for her stepping out of home after that incident. Atharva's mom calmed her down and motivated her.
She blessed her and make her eat sweet curd for good luck . Atharva's dad himself went to drop Dhriti to college and wished her good luck. She also got messages from Swati , Atharva and Rakshit . She went in college with a smile on her face.

Students in campus were giving her strange looks . She started getting uncomfortable. Manan and Shruti came towards her and helped her. She sensed Shruti's behaviour quite changed and it was good change. She was genuinely behaving well with Dhriti.

Dhriti's pov

I am very happy as today is my last exam of final semester.,also dii and jiju are going to come today. My exams went well in this semester also. This time my preparation was even better as i had someone to look after me.

Aunty always made sure that i eat well on time . She took care of my food , medicines and sleep. She was always there to calm me down whenever i was having nightmares. Uncle helped to make me strong. He taught to take a stand for myself and build up my confidence. He also guided me in career.
Their funny fights, banterings had always been my mood-lifter. There is some kind of positive vibes in their home which i always missed in mine.

I have also got internship in one of top architectural firm in Bangalore due to consistency in my academic performance.

I have also got a great friend in the form of Shruti and Manan. They both has been my constant support. Shruti is an amazing friend. I enjoy her company. But i feel that she is hiding something from me. I have finally realized my love for Manan. I am going to confess him today . I have made a customized box for him to express my feelings.

My cheeks automatically became red thinking how would he react to this. I saw Manan coming towards canteen along with Shruti. I put that box secretly on their reserved table and hid in such place from where i can see them and listen to them but they can't see me.

They both entered canteen and sat on their regular table where i had kept box. They looked at box and shared a look.

Manan- "Look what that fatso has given me "

It didn't hurt me as i know he was just saying it as a joke. He started opening box. I was waiting for his reaction but what he said broke my hearts in a million pieces. I became numb. Everything was looking blurred from my vision due to tears. I gathered myself and ran outside without caring about my surroundings.......
