London Bridge is Falling Down
WARNING: SUICIDE IS MENTIONED
Bright, sharp green eyes stared lifelessly at the sun dipping deeper into the decimated skyline. The city below the man was deadly silent. Only the wind seemed to tussle the cracked concrete and broken glass to life.
"We'll isn't this just shitty." The man basking in the sun's dying rays muttered while smoking his homemade toke.
A smaller man, who was sitting on the edge of the rooftop, stopped his quiet humming when he noticed the grey smoke unfurling softly into the sky around them. "You should put that out, Aussie. You don't want anyone finding us right?"
"Then, you shouldn't hum. It will attract them buggers." Australia grunted and spat at the ground three stories below them.
"Fine." New Zealand huffed softly and crossed his arms. His dull red eyes focused on the same skyline that his brother was watching earlier.
Australia looked away as well and glared at the washed-out rooftop floor. He was so concentrated on a little rant in his head directed at New Zealand that he didn't even notice someone creeping quietly behind him.
Canada kept his warm brown eyes on the pouting Australian. He crept silently behind him and pulled him into a tight hug. He felt Australia tense up a bit before calming down and hugging him firmly back. "You scared me Nada... don't do that again... please."
Australia always tried to be nicer to the Canadian because he knew the sweet hearted man would burst into tears otherwise.
"I'm sorry, but you seemed like you need a hug." Canada mumbled quietly like he usually does when he talks.
Australia stayed quiet for a second and only looked at Canada's sad lowered eyes. "It just surprised me and I don't want you to get hurt from my reflexes reacting to anything like that." He explained simply, calmly, and quickly. Those were now the only words to describe Australia nowadays. He used to be chaotic, loud, and fun, but straightening up a young spirt is what 25 years of an apocalypse can do apparently.
Canada thought this over and nodded solemnly while never lifting his soft eyes from the ground. "I'm sorry-"
Australia didn't even have time to respond because a very war torn America climbed up the stairs to the roof. The three brothers turned silently to face the bashed man in front of them. "You guys want to camp here for tonight? It's relatively safe... I think." America chuckled, but the light that once shinned in his eyes was long gone.
The silence stretched between the small group for what seemed like a decade.
"Sure, Ame." New Zealand said softly and then looked away to frown deeply into the sunset.
"Great! I'll go get the supplies!" America smiled brightly, but quickly frowned when Canada flinched in disgust. The American casted a downfallen expression to the ground and disappeared back down the stairs.
Australia slammed his hand into the back of Canada's neck with a firm frown. "WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?"
Canada shrank away from Australia's harsh words. Tears immediately sprang into eyes as he whimpered, "I didn't mean to!"
"We'll, America didn't mean to get bitten either, smart ass!" The enraged Australian pushed the Canadian roughly to the ground.
New Zealand seethed, but didn't interfere with the fight. "Stop, Aussie!"
America suddenly appeared back on the roof and dropped the heavy load of supplies in his arms with surprise. The scene before him made him tremble with anxiety. His thoughts whispered awful things into his rotten brain which made his dying eyes brim with tears. "Guys..." His three brothers could barely understand his hushed tone, but each one strained with all their might to listen closely to their brother's heartbroken words. "I'm dying, okay? I won't be here for very long and when I'm gone...? You three will have to take care of yourselves. So for me... please get along."
America's speech brought Australia to tears. It was the first time he's cried since Britain's and France's death. "I'm sorry." He blubbered with hot tears dripping off his sharp cheeks. He hugged Canada tightly while sobbing into the other's chest.
Canada looped his lengthy arms around Australia and rubbed the other's back. He was very glad that the other was finally letting all his emotions out and that they were back to good terms once again. His warm brown eyes turned to America with a hint of sadness within them. "We won't let you down, Ame."
America nodded. His black, lifeless, decimated shades slipped down his ragged nose, revealing his dying blue eyes. "Good. In fact, you can't let me down or all I did to keep you alive was for nothing." His words sounded harsh, but in reality there was nothing but care in them. He wanted his brothers to stay alive... actually he needed them to.

The tv rumbled on as a brooding Australian took another hit from his toke. He calmly blew puffs of smoke up at the ceiling of the small, dark house he was lounging in. He casted a stone hard, green-eyed glare at the rest of his family laughing outside. "So loud." He grumbled as his eyes roamed away from his brothers and towards their patterned carpet. They didn't like it when he smoked, hence the reason he was shoved away into the deep corners of the house. A sweet sound of a blissful melody made him look over at his family once again. It seemed that America was playing some warm up tunes before the sizzling campfire behind their house. After a few minutes, the soft sound of guitar strings came to the end, so the family clapped and cheered to numb the silence.
Though, the whole world erupted into madness after that simple guitar solo. Sirens rang throughout the countries and tv's screamed their warnings to any being willing to listen.
Australia could only watch in horror at the frantic screen as the first ever infected country took a huge bite of an innocent bystander.
America came running into the house which snapped Australia out of his trance. His brother had never looked more determined or bone-chilling in their entire existence until now.
New Zealand was following closely after America and tripped over a lump in their living room rug. Tears quickly sprang into his light red eyes, but no country knew how problematic Zea's scrape would be in the future.
America quickly helped his little brother up on his feet and looked at his family members with a deadly serious look on his red, white, and blue face. "We need to go ahead and start protecting ourselves for the infected. I have the weapons. Ma, go get the food. Pops, go get the survival supplies. Aussie, get anything useful and Zea... help them out." With that, the bossy American ran to retrieve as many weapons from his room as he physically could.
New Zealand rolled his eyes and trotted off with France to help her out. Of course, he was furious at America for not giving him a job which was something he would later regret.
Australia immediately ran off to their parents shared bathroom to grab as many medical supplies they owned. He smirked at his reflection while thinking about how America was so stupid for not thinking of it himself. His bright green eyes darted to the left as Canada popped into view. He wore a sleepy and confused expression while rubbing his tired green eyes. "What's going on?" He murmured in a rough and dry morning voice.
"There's this crazy new sickness that's affecting some of the countries. It makes them eat other countries!" Australia raised his eyebrows in boyish amusement. Though it was such a gore driven disease, the Australian still found the whole ploy to be quite funny.
Canada paled instantly on the news and appeared to be sick to his stomach. "That's... awful." He finally choked out before finding a bag to help Australia pocket all of the medical supplies. America had made him watch too many apocalypse movies to not know what to do.
"Hey, go grab us some extra clothes in case." Australia ordered as he swept medical products into the small bag carrier.
"Will do." With that, Canada was gone and digging in everyone's clothes for whatever they could possibly need. They had a plan for this very situation due to America. He had built a bunker that could give them enough time to survive for about 30 years. That wasn't a lot, but it was something. Plus, it was built for more than just the capitalist family. Allies were welcome in if they could find their way in time.
The family finally had all their supplies and gear together. The only step now was to venture to the center of the city they lived in, which was where America's bunker hid patiently.
America drifted up to the family in his armored vehicle and made sure everyone hopped in before driving off. Britain and the hard core revolutionist chattered about the unique design of his emergency vehicle while the rest of the family wore bewildered expressions. They couldn't understand how the two men were being so calm and collected under the world's circumstances. Though, their shock began to die down as the arrived to their safe haven. The only problem was that there was a crowd of countries already waiting to be let in. Their panic was unmistakable as they pressed against the armored vehicle with urgency. With one worried glance at his family, America hopped out and began the complicated sequence of opening up the bunker.
France was the next to get out as she held her bag of food close to her chest. She walked around the vehicle and flanked her son's side to protect him from some of the sobbing countries.
The rest of the family tried their best to calm down the crowd, but it only made a slight impact. Soon, America had the bunker opened and made countries line up. The only way to make sure they weren't infected was by taking their core temperature. Sure, it was time consuming, but it was also life-saving.
A small woman walked up with a cold hard stare at her secret biological mother.
America took a moment to realize who she was and gave France a worried side look.
France ignored her son and returned the glare to her unwanted child with a straight face. "Long time no see, Mali."
Mali huffed and crossed her bi-colored arms. "I'm not here for a reunion... Ma." She mocked in a broken French accent. "Let's just get this over with." She turned to America expectedly.
"Sure." He mumbled while not being too sure what was going on. He pricked her skin with the thermometer only to frown with deep concern. "Your core temperature is off the charts." He backed away with a quiver of fear in his eyes. "You need to leave right now!"
Mali's cool attitude disappeared in an instant. "What? Look I have the highest core temperature out of any country here! I'm naturally hot!" She pleaded with America while taking a panicked step towards him.
"No, you're running a temperature. You can't stay here." America's hand reached toward his rifle at his hip which made Mali stop in her tracts.
"This isn't right!" She hissed and turned around to only see France. A horrible thought twisted in her head as she marched towards the woman who was supposed to protect her and take care of her. She stopped just inches from France's face and growled. "You're going down with me, mother." With a cold look in her eyes, she lunged at France's arm and bit as deeply as she could.
France roared a cry in pain and sent a full force punch to Mali's stomach. "GET OUT OF MY SIGHT BEFORE I KILL YOU!" Rage coursed through her veins as she stared down at her old territory.
Other countries watched in fear and horror while a shocked American simply loaded his gun and took Mali's life then and there. "No one hurts my mother." He murmured as he watched Britain run to France who was shaking with tears and a bloody wrist.
Australia was trembling from his shock, but nothing would prepare him for what happened next.
Out of his back pocket, Britain pulled out a tiny hand gun and pressed it against the back of his lover's head. He studied France's big blue eyes and smiled softly as he ignored the cries of their three sons.
France brushed a strand of hair out of her husband's face and leaned up to kiss him. "Go ahead and do it." She whispered as their lips crashed together.
That's all it took for Britain to pull the trigger. As the gun shot rang throughout the crowd, two bodies dropped in front of four pairs of devastated eyes.
Australia dropped to the ground on his knees and made a weird wounded animal cry as loudly as he could.
Behind America's serious sunglasses, he was crying like a baby.
Meanwhile, Canada and New Zealand were hugging and sobbing into each other while listening to the crowd of countries give their support as best they could. Though, nothing could ever erase the pain that just shot through their hearts. Nothing at all.
...
The four brother's were sleeping peacefully under the twinkling stars of the desolated city they used to claim as home. Even though the loud wail of untold monsters below them would occasionally startle them out of sleep, they were safe for now until a shadowy figure hovered above the decaying American that would change their whole entire lives.
It wasn't the wailing call of a zombie that woke them up this time. No, it was the soft hiccuping sob of an infant that shook them into reality.
"Mexico!? What are you doing here?" America sprang to his stiff feet with an alarmed look in his eyes.
"Well." She chewed on a large piece of gum while cradling a very familiar baby. "I thought it was time for you to take responsibility of your son." A death glare rested over her face as she held up a very American flag in her arms. Though, on the crying infant's face, there was Mexico's symbols resting on the skin as well.
America could only stare at his child while one thought ran through his mind.
Wow, he was really dead.... in more ways then one.
