"Professor Oobleck" Weiss questioned.

"Yes I'm afraid those bags won't be necessary girls seeing as you've opted to shadow a huntsman what is now essentially a reconnaissance mission, I can assure you that we will not be establishing a single base of operations rather we will be traversing several miles of hazardous wastelands and making camp at any obtainable location we may stumble apon, I've packed all our essentials myself, plotted the aircourse and readied the airship, and...it's doctor Oobleck, I didn't earn a PHD for fun thank you very much" He said.

"Uhh" Weiss said.

"Come now children, according to my schedule we are precisely 3 minutes behind...on schedule" He said.

He then sped over to the airship.

"Well alright then, looks like we'll be going to save the world with Dr. Oobleck-yeah ok when you say it out loud it sounds worse" I said.

"SAVE THE WORLD..." A voice shouted.

We turned around and saw team JNPR.

"YOU'RE GOING ON WORLD SAVING MISSIONS WITHOUT US, I'M HURT, SAD, maybe a little hungry too, but that last one's not your fault though...REN" Nora said.

"Sounds exciting, where you going" Jaune asked.

"Just outside the kingdom" I said.

"HEY, SO ARE WE" Nora shouted.

Is it shouting or talking actually...nevermind.

"Ren and Nora wanted to shadow the sheriff of a nearby village" Pyrrha said.

"We set out tomorrow" Ren said.

"Then you can party with us tonight" A voice said.

It was Neptune, he was with Sun.

"We're shadowing crime specialists, all inter-city detective stuff, we get junior badges" Neptune said.

Jaune was awestruck.

"We normally go to the city with you guys....which means stuff's always exploding and junk....so we thought it would be a better way to check out the kingdom when it's...you know, normal" Sun said.

"Well uhh.." I said.

"FOUR MINUTES LADIES" Oobleck shouted from the ship.

An awkward silence filled the air.

"Well..." I said.

"WAIT" A voice shouted.

Everyone turned around and saw Ika warp to us.

Nora grabbed his sword, he warped to the sword.

We then saw y/n run to us.

"Don't...make me...run like this" Y/n said puffed out.

"What's wrong" I asked.

"We...wanted...to...give you...something...before you left" Y/n said.

Both Ika and y/n pulled out boxes.

Ika's was made of silver whilst y/n was an ornate wood with decorative markings on each.

"This is from yours truly" Ika said as he gave the silver box to Weiss.

She opened it, it was a necklace.

She wore it then hugged him.

"It's a little good luck charm" He said.

"And this is for the rest of you" Y/n said.

We opened the box.

Y/n got us necklaces too.

But inside was a f/c crystal.

"What's this" I asked.

"It's a soap-stone, in my world we used it to help others, if you need help then summon me" Y/n said.

"Thanks, we'll keep it with us" I said.

We all scattered to our destinations.

We went on our airship and launched.

"I guess I never expected you as much of a fighter" Yang said.

"I'll admit that I see myself as more of an intellectual, but I can assure you as a huntsman I have had my fair share of tussles" Oobleck said.

Tussles?

"Like the mushroom" I asked.

"Those are truffles" Blake said.

"Like the sprout" I asked.

"Those are brussels" Yang said.

"Besides, given my expertise in the field of history as well as my dabblings in the achaelogical surveys our dear headmaster has assigned me to this particular....assignment" He said.

"What does history have to do with this" Weiss asked.

"Why what a preposterous question you silly girl why history is the very backbone of our society, AND THE LIVER...probably the kidneys if I had to wager" He said.

"And that means..." Weiss asked.

He pointed a finger up.

"The south-east quadrant outside of Vale is home to wild forests and deep caves, BUT it is also the location to one of the kingdoms greatest failures" He said.

"Mountain Glenn" I said.

"OH THAT'S RIGHT, it was an expansion of Vale, but in the end it was overrun by Grimm and fenced off from the rest of the city" Yang said.

Oobleck nodded.

"CORRECT, and now it stands abandoned as is our reminder" Oobleck said.

"And a likely place for a hideout" Blake said.

Oobleck fixed his glasses.

"Precisely" He said with a smile.

We landed.

We went out of the airship with our weapons drawn.

The place was long dead.

Destroyed buildings, empty streets, tumbleweed...yep.

"Ladies, you may still be students but as of this moment your first mission as a huntress has begun, from this point forward you need to do exactly as I say, do you understand" Oobleck asked.

He then turned to me.

"RUBY, I thought I told you to leave all of your bags back at school" He said.

"But you hadn't told to us listen to you yet....so I didn't" I said.

"She's not wrong...very well Ruby leave your bag here we will pick it up on our return" He said.

I tried to stop him.

"YOUNG LADY WHAT IN THE WORLD COULD YOU POSSIBLY HAVE IN THAT BAG THAT COULD BE SO IMPORTANT TO BRING IT WITH..." Oobleck said.

Something came out of my bag...Zwei.

"Get back in the bag" I whispered to him.

Zwei barked.

"We're here to investigate an abandoned urban jungle teeming with death and hostility and you brought...a dog" He asked.

I didn't know what to do next.

"GENIUS" He said.

I shrugged at my team.

WHOOSH!!!

Oobleck speedily grabbed Zwei from me.

"CANINES ARE HISTORICALY KNOWN FOR THEIR PERCEPTIVE NOSE AND HIGHTENED SENSE OF SOUND, MAKING THEM EXCELLENT COMPANIONS FOR A HUNT SUCH AS OURS" He said as he spun Zwei around.

I turned to my team.

"I'm a genius" I said.

Yang and Weiss facepalmed themselves.

"So, what are your orders doctor" Blake asked.

"Ah yes straight to the chase, I like it" Oobleck said.

He dropped Zwei.

"As you've been informed the south-east area has been marked as a recent hotspot for Grimm activity, now there are several possible explanations for this ruthless behavior, one of which being....Grimm" He said.

We turned to each other like...what.

"Uhh...what" I asked.

"Grimm, a creature of Grimm approximately 100 yards ahead of us at this very moment" He said.

We turned around and saw a Beowolf.

We pulled out our weapons.

"STOP....there are a number of reasons why Grimm would congregate in this particular area, most likely being their attraction to negativity to this area, sadness, envy, loneliness, hatred, all qualities that are likely held by our hidden group hovering ill intent" Oobleck said.

"So...what now" I asked.

"We wait, we track, if this specimen leads us to it's pack, that pack might subsequencily lead us to our prey" He said.

"Well, how long do we wait" Yang asked.

I was never good at waiting.

"It's uncertain, hours, days, weeks, why lone Grimm have been isolated from the pack for months-and there's the whole pack" Oobleck said.

There were many beowolves.

"What" Weiss said.

"And now they've seen us" Oobleck said.

"WHAT" Weiss said.

"AND NOW THEY'VE SEEN US" Oobleck shouted.

Whoops.

"I take it tracking is out of the question" I asked.

"An accurate assumption....yes" He said.

"What's the plan then" Yang asked.

They were heading to us.

"Show me what you're capable of" He said.

"Cover your ears Zwei" I said to Zwei.

We all began attacking the Grimm.

Admittedly there was a lot...but we took care of them.

"Peace of cake huh" I said.

"Do not celebrate just yet, I am certain that this is the first bound of many...shall we continue" Oobleck asked.

We continued on.

And we kept killing Grimm left and right.

"Excellent work girls, unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any signs of criminal operations in this sector, OH WELL moving on" Oobleck said.

I followed him.

"Hey Doc you know, I was actually looking forward to seeing a pro huntsman in action, like fighting or atleast helping us fight" Yang said.

"Ahh but I am in action, scouring the ruins of this once great city for any signs of irregularity, not every mission is filled with daring and heroism girls, sometimes it's just a hightened form of extermination, remember this is a job...and you signed up for it, I do hope you understand that" Oobleck said.

"Well yeah, of course" Yang said.

We spent the whole day killing Grimm.

Honestly it was getting both boring and fun, don't know how though.

"Are we ready to keep going" I asked.

"No I believe that will have to do for today, it's going to be dark soon" Oobleck said.

He threw a bag at Yang.

"You three set up camp in that building, oh and please do make sure that there are no more of those...creatures, your leader and I will secure the perimeter come Ruby" Oobleck said.

I left with him.

<Timeskip in Weiss p.o.v.>

We had just finished setting up camp.

I wanted to call Ika but...low signal.

This sucks, I get with the boy I love and we spend a week apart...this is going to suck.

"I can't believe we didn't find anything" Yang said.

"We've always been fortunate enough to be at the right place at the right time, I guess we can't always have luck on our side" Blake said.

I sighed.

We really didn't find anything.

But...

"That's not what I meant" I said.

Blake and Yang turned to me.

"Earlier, about upholding a legacy, there's more to it than that" I said.

"Yeah, no me too, I mean...I don't know" Yang said.

"I don't know either, I know what I want to do, but...I figured I'd always take things one step at a time" Blake said.

"It doesn't matter, we know why we're here...right" Yang said.

We didn't respond...we just....looked at the ground.

Then all of a sudden...

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

"What is that" Yang asked.

We looked out the building and saw giant Grimm....Goliaths to be exact.

They were attacking the buildings as they headed towards us.

"WHAT DO WE DO" Yang asked.

"GIRLS...GET...OUT...OF...THERE" Oobleck shouted.

We grabbed what we could (which wasn't much) and we ran out the building.

The Goliaths destroyed the building...they are definitely after us.

"Looks like we have no choice...but to fight" Oobleck said.

I summoned a fire glyph and I shot fire at the Goliaths.

Blake and Yang tried shooting them too.

Ruby launched herself at one to try and kill it but it knocked her back.

"Well...was nice teaching you" Oobleck said.

I do hope that was a joke.

We kept attacking as much as we could but it didn't seem like it was working.

We then saw a glow behind us.

It was coming from Ruby's pocket.

She pulled it out, the source was...y/n's soap-stone?

It vibrated, then it glowed very brightly.

Then out of nowhere...a glowing y/n appeared.

"IT'S TIME...FOR SOME JOLLY CO-OPERATION" He shouted.

He pulled out his greatsword and ran to the Grimm.

A Goliath tried stomping him, he dodged it and cut off it's leg, then sliced open it's stomach.

He then managed to kill roughly 7 more afterwards.

There was still more.

Y/n went to us and went in a guarding position after he pulled out a shield.

"What now" Ruby asked.

"Ika should be here shortly...I hope" Y/n said.

YAY...also...I'M POTENTIALLY GOING TO DIE...BUT YAY!!

And at the worst of times I get a headache.

It was hurting me.

"WEISS" Blake said.

I couldn't stop it, it felt like my mind was getting pulled apart.

Then...I heard something.

The world around me went mute, it literally froze, everyone and everything was frozen in place.

As for the world....it was dark blue, everything except me...there was no noise.

Only one noise could be heard...my breathing.

Then...out of nowhere.

"Weiss Schnee, it appears as though you're in quite the predicament" A voice said.

This voice...Ika?

I turned around and saw an armored man...his armor was navy blue..no..he was navy blue...a ghost?

"Weiss, I am here because I have to give you a choice..." He said.

I was confused.

"Do you wish for my power, I will grant you the power of kings...the ability to warp and summon weapons, and in return you will be bound to me for all eternity" He said.

"Bound" I asked.

"You and I will be bound for life, I will assist you whenever you are in need of me, and I will grant you the power of kings...however you will be bound with me...by answering this choice I will see if you are worthy of my power" He said.

I though for a bit.

"Whatever your choice is...it's yours alone...I will help you and grant you power...but you and I will be bound together...before you ask...it's metaphorical..more or less" He said.

I could warp...summon weapons...and have him be summoned whenever I want...

"Deal" I said.

He then warped to me and hugged me.

"Alright then sweety...oh, and one last thing...duck" He said.

When the world went back to normal he disappeared.

I turned around and quickly ducked, a piece of a building almost hit me.

The sky then went dark.

I saw lightning appear in the sky...a storm?

Fire also appeared from the sky.

Also it got very chilly.

We all then saw something appear in the sky, something was flying around in the sky.

A bird?

A bullhead?

No...it was a hound with white feathered wings.

A giant white hound was circling the sky.

The hound then flew down towards us and...ATE ME?!

I felt it fly upwards again.

The hound then flung me up onto it's back.

It began to stop.

We were...REALLY HIGH UP!!!

It's eyes began to glow as it stopped.

It flew up, roared, then shot fire, lightning, and ice at the Goliaths.

The Goliaths all died and the dragon landed, then dropped me back to the ground.

Apon closer inspection the hound was huge.

The hound stared at me.

"Hello Ika" Y/n said.

IKA?

The hound smirked a toothy smirk.

I hugged the head.

He nudged me gently.

A soft groan came from him.

Ika reached around to his back, then grabbed something.

He gave me a small bag.

Inside was a whistle with a feather on it and a note.

Ika stood up his two hind legs, he looked like a humanoid hound, he howled.

Then his body disappeared into purple sparks before disappearing completely.

Y/n made a bow.

"I bid thee a farewell" He said.

He faded away.

I opened the letter.

"Dear team RWBY and Oobleck, Y/n and I gave it some thought as to if we should be appearing to help you, unless necessary don't summon us, also we decided to give you a Chocobo whistle in case you got tired of walking, and Ruby...now you'll know what a Chocobo is, sincerely Ika, XOXO love you Weiss" I read the note.

Ruby grabbed the whistle and blew into it.

Nothing happened.

Then we heard chirping.

We saw 4 giant birds come to us.

The white one came to me, the purple one went to Blake, the golden one went to Yang, and the red one went to Ruby.

I gotta say they are super fluffy.

Ika and y/n have outdone themselves.

"Our position has been compromised, we need to find a new camp so we can....camp for tonight, now...which of you girls wishes to share" Oobleck asked.

We saw a green Chocobo grab Oobleck's hat and wear it.

"Ahh, a mode of transportation, tell you boyfriend I thank him for this thoughtful gift that he has gifted us with" Oobleck said.

Oh don't worry....I plan to...

We rode around the city, they're fast and cuddly.

We managed to find a safe point to go with.

One of the Chocobo's pulled out a blue crystal from within a bag.

It tapped the ground with it, the ground went blue then blue markings appeared.

A tiny nevermore landed next to us...it exploded.

"Marvelous, anti Grimm magic, there'll be no need for watching out for tonight...sleep well and...goodnight" Oobleck said before speeding into another room, the green Chocobo followed.

We all got some sleep.

"Oh and before you sleep, please know that tomorrow we have a lot of ground tomorrow, and even more boyfriend summoning...goodnight" Oobleck said finally.

We all laughed.

We all slept next to our Chocobos, we used them as pillows.

Now...what to dream about now...oh yes...Ik-

"Awaken heiress of Dust" A voice said.

When I opened my eyes I noticed I was in some sort of blue void.

I was falling...or floating.

I was then caught by a giant metal hand.

"Heiress of Dust...we have much to discuss..." The voice said.

Hey guys, I just want to give a moment to say that...it's been an interesting year, meeting new authors, creating hundreds of new stories, so....I wish to simply say...

And I can't wait for next year, fare-thee-well my friends, I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and I hope next year more interesting stuff occurs in the following year.
