chapter one

Chapter one

At a college campus, there were several apartments available for students to rent as dorms. Among these was a modest and affordable unit, sparsely furnished with a few boxes and a bed. A new freshman had just moved in.

He was six feet tall with blonde hair that was brushed down, covering his forehead. His ocean-blue eyes and whisker-like birthmarks on his cheeks gave him a distinctive appearance. At 18 years old, he wore black shoes, gray pants, a white belt, and an orange and red fox shirt under a black jacket.

His name was Naruto Uzumaki.

Unpacking his belongings was a straightforward task, as he had only a few items to sort through. For the past five years, he had lived in various orphanages. While they were not the best places, they provided him with a roof over his head, food to eat, and clean clothes to wear.

This arrangement had been his life for the last five years after he was exiled from his homeland, the Land of Fire. He had brought back Sasuke Uchiha, but his use of the Kyuubi's power led others to view him as unstable and dangerous.

Rather than taking responsibility for Naruto's actions, a vote was held, and it was decided that he should be exiled. His chakra was sealed off, and both Tsunade and Jiraiya knew that Naruto would be in danger if he remained. They arranged for him to be sent to another country far away: Japan.

Japan was known for its advanced weaponry and its ability to keep those with chakra out of its borders. Since Naruto's chakra had been sealed, he was permitted to stay and attend an orphanage there, where he hoped to find a sense of belonging and safety.

While Naruto found safety in Japan, he struggled to feel a sense of belonging. The people who ran the orphanage showed little care for the children in their charge, they treated the orphans as checks for money. There was no room for complaints, as they fulfilled their basic responsibilities by providing food, clothes, education, and medical care.

Naruto didn't have many friends, as the other orphans were often adopted after only a few months. The few he did meet at school soon vanished from his life, leaving him feeling isolated. He became a loner, choosing to focus on his studies rather than forming connections that might be short-lived.

After graduating high school, he expected to find an apartment soon, so he was surprised to hear that he would be going to college. The orphanage administrators explained that since he had been an orphan for more than six months, he qualified for a scholarship, though it would be limited to the state where he lived.

He could hardly believe the news. While it filled him with hope, it also brought uncertainty. College could open doors to better job opportunities, but he still felt an unshakeable longing to be a shinobi, traveling across the Elemental Countries. Deep down, he knew that dream was never going to come true, and he would have to find a way to move forward with his life.

Now Naruto knew he was here, In a small apartment for the next 4 years at least.

Now that he was finished on packing, He had a small air mattress, A small fridge, A dresser, night stand next to his bed, A table and chair for studies and work.

Now that Naruto was settled into his small apartment, he knew he would be here for at least the next four years. After finishing unpacking, he took stock of his belongings. His modest living space included a small air mattress, a mini fridge, a dresser, and a nightstand beside his bed. There was also a table and a chair for studying and doing his coursework.

By the next day

Naruto was walking around the campus along with the other students, It wasn't the actual first day of college yet, Today it was four everyone to get to know the place Is to get the hang Of where , all their classes were going to be and get around.

Naruto was walking around the campus alongside other students, soaking in the vibrant atmosphere. Although it wasn't the official first day of college yet, today was designated for everyone to familiarize themselves with the campus, locate their classrooms, and get a feel for their new environment.

As he strolled through the bustling pathways, he observed groups of students laughing and chatting, their excitement palpable. Naruto felt a twinge of nervousness mixed with anticipation. This was a chance to start anew, to blend in among his peers. He took note of the various buildings, the library, the student center, and the lecture halls, all bustling with activity.

Naruto soon arrived at the plaza, and he was struck by its beauty. The leaves on the trees were an unusual white, creating a serene atmosphere, while the stone benches were intricately carved with what looked like gems, catching the sunlight in a dazzling display.

In the center of the plaza stood a tree larger than all the others, its gnarled branches reaching out like ancient arms. It looked very old, and Naruto overheard some students nearby discussing it.

"I can't believe this place, with its high standards, would allow this tree to remain," one student said. "It's already dead, and the roots are coming out of the ground."

"That's because of the legend behind it," another student replied. "It goes back over a thousand years-a story of love, loss, and a curse."

"Yeah, I've heard that ridiculous story before. It's about a peasant who fell in love with a noble lady, but he was cursed with a medallion that turned him into a nine-tailed fox."

Naruto's heart raced at the mention of the nine-tailed fox. Could it be that the creature he had learned about in whispers and tales was connected to this very legend? The thought sparked a mix of curiosity and concern. Was the nine-tails once here, tied to this ancient tree and its curse? He found himself wanting to know more about the story but then he shook his head, He told himself it's just a story and it doesn't even manner.

As Naruto examined the roots sprawling across the ground, he felt an inexplicable pull, a sensation that was hard to articulate. It was as if something deep within the earth was calling out to him. Compelled by curiosity, he followed the winding roots until they opened up to reveal a golden medallion adorned with the symbol of a fox.

Intrigued, Naruto bent down to pick it up, cradling it in his hands. The medallion gleamed in the sunlight, its surface smooth and cool. As he turned it over, it clicked open, revealing a small mirror inside.

When he looked into the reflective surface, he was startled to see not just his own face, but the eyes of a woman gazing back at him. Her expression was hauntingly familiar, filled with a sense of longing and sadness. Naruto felt a something has his eyes locked on to her eyes through the reflection.

She was beautiful-her long white hair flowed like silk, framing her delicate face, and her dark eyes seemed to hold depths of mystery. Standing about 5'7", she had pale, smooth skin and wore a long-sleeved black shirt paired with black pants.

As Naruto turned to face her, he felt a jolt of recognition, as if he had known her all along. "Hello," she said, approaching him with an inviting smile. "Did you find that in the roots?"

Naruto nodded, still captivated by her presence. "Yeah, it looks really nice. What's your name?"

"I'm Kokona Haruka," she replied, and as she spoke, Naruto felt an undeniable connection between them. There was something in her gaze that resonated with him, almost as if she was looking into his very soul.

'Why am I feeling this way?' Naruto wondered, caught off guard by the intensity of his emotions.

Over the next six months, the two of them continued to bond as they shared classes and spent time together. They would hang out, talking about everything and nothing, laughing and learning side by side. As the days turned into weeks, Naruto found that his feelings for Kokona deepened.

He began to realize that what he felt was more than just friendship, he was falling in love with her. The sensation was both exhilarating and terrifying, as he navigated the complexities of his emotions for the first time. Each moment spent with Kokona made his heart race, and he couldn't shake the feeling that their connection was something truly special.

But one day

Naruto was chatting with one of his classmates, Genji Tanaka. Genji had dark brown hair and a sun-kissed tan, dressed in a light brown short-sleeve jacket over a tan shirt, khaki shorts, and white shoes. Despite his friendly demeanor, Naruto couldn't shake an unsettling feeling about him, especially since Genji was very close to Kokona. It turned out they were childhood friends, a fact that gnawed at Naruto.

"So, what are you planning to do this weekend?" Naruto asked, trying to keep his tone casual.

Genji grinned, a spark of excitement in his eyes. "I'm planning something special for me and Kokona. I've got a big plan!"

Naruto raised an eyebrow, his curiosity piqued. "Really? What kind of plans?"

Genji leaned in, lowering his voice as if sharing a secret. "Well... I can't hide it anymore. For the past few years-no, ever since I was little-I've had a crush on her. I'm going to confess my feelings on Friday underneath that beautiful tree. I hope the spirit of Himiko will bless me so Kokona will accept me. I'm going to make this week really special for us, hanging out and doing all sorts of things."

A nervous laugh escaped Naruto, and he instinctively snapped the pencil he was holding behind him, feeling a surge of frustration. Hatred bubbled up inside him. How could Genji be so brazen? He had planned to confess his own feelings to Kokona, but now this guy was trying to take her away from him.

Naruto felt the urgency to act. He needed time to think and devise a plan to stop this. He couldn't let Genji steal the chance he'd been waiting for. As he walked away, determination filled his mind; he had to make sure Kokona knew how he truly felt before it was too late.
