**Three**
"So prince charming, where is the surprise?" I asked leaning into Amir who wrapped his hand around my back.
The morning air was cold and chilling but the coat I wore over my clothes kept me warm from it. On my face, I could feel the chilling air. Amir looked down at me, his lips curled up into a smile that made his dimples evident.
"I hope you like it" he pressed something he was holding in his hand.
A black Mercedes Benz with its headlights switched on drove slowly towards us. I looked my lips forming an O and my eyebrows moved up. The doors opened up when it stopped, no one came out of it.
"Where is the driver?" I asked confusion on my face as I looked at Amir. "How can a car move without anyone driving it? Why are the doors opening up and not the normal way?" I asked impressed by what the car could do. Amir let out a soft chuckle.
"Angel" he removed his hand from my waist. "This is the driver" he placed something which I realized was a car key in my hand.
"What do you mean?" I looked at the key in my hand.
"It is your car" he pointed a hand at the car.
"You don't mean it?" I shrieked. "This is my car?" I ran down the staircase. "This is my car?" I screamed and whirled back to look at him. He walked down, hands in his pockets. The warmth of happiness spread through me. I let out a joyful scream my hands on my face. "Amir" I jumped on him. He whirled me around making me dizzy as my laughter surrounded us.
"Why are you so happy aunty Noorie's face?" A voice spoke.
My eyes flew open. I felt Amir stiffen against me. My muscles became tensed as I jumped down from Amir's hold. We both turned to the direction of the voice to see Farhaana standing, her small chubby hands on her waist, tapping her foot against the floor and her eyebrows drew together.
"Your uncle got me a car" I beamed as she walked down the staircases.
"He got you a car?"
"Yes" I jumped.
"Farhaana" I heard Zoya bhabi's voice. "What are you doing out here?" her mother asked walking up to us.
"Mama, I came outside to wait for you" she said. "Mama, Uncle Amir got aunt Noor a car" she told her mother.
Zoya bhabi's black eyes grew wide as she looked from me to Amir.
"Really?" I nodded my head eagerly. "Mubarak!" she shouted opening her arms to hug me.
"Thanks"
"Really Amir? That's nice. Everyone needs to know this"
"I need to see the interior" I rushed to the car.
"Wait, wait, wait" he pulled me back as I was about entering. "We should pray before you use it"
"Oh, I forgot. I will tell Nani. I will be back" I ran inside.
"Nani" I screamed running into the living room.
In the living room, on the long seat, Nani was seated with Sahibah bhabi who adjusted the clothes of the baby Nani held in her arms. Smiling, Nani looked up.
"Noor" Nani called holding the baby closer to her chest. "Has she eaten?" she asked Sahibah bhabi.
"Yes" Sahibah bhabi answered looking at me.
"What happened, Habibti?" Nani asked her voice gently.
"Amir got me a car" I screamed.
"Ya Allah" she got up still holding the baby.
"Really?" Sahibah bhabi screamed.
"Yes, yes, yes" I showed them the key. "He got me a car" I said shaking my head still awed that he got me a car.
"Congratulations" Sahibah bhabi hugged me.
That was how everyone got to know. They prayed for the car and after the prayer, Zoya bhabi took the kids to school, Suhaan Khalu, Sami bhai, Rizwan mamu and Faiz left for work.
The loud house was quiet when I went to get my bag. I kissed Nani goodbye, hugged Sahibah bhabi and kissed Aisha's cheeks. Shazia and Tubassum stood by the staircase in the foyer glaring at me when I walked out. I smiled and waved at them which made Shazia snicker and looked away before walking upstairs. As usual, Tubassum followed her. I got to know they are both nurses who work in the same hospital. Ayat mami, Ramlah aunty, and Aaban were nowhere to be found.
Outside, Amir stood by the new car, his arms wrapped around his chest. He wore a grey suit with a white shirt. He wore no tie but loosened the first two buttons of his shirt. I found it attractive. His brown Italian leather shoes gleamed from being well polished. I smiled at him walking down the staircase.
"Ready?" he asked.
"Yes" I answered walking to the other side of the car. He smiled and entered.
"Are you sure you do not need anyone to drive you back home? Ja'afar can do that" he said locking his seat belt. Ja'afar was one of the drivers who had picked us at the airport.
"I don't need anyone" I smiled at him.
"It is your first day driving through London. I wished I could bring you back home but I am sorry, I have work to do" he apologised.
"Don't worry, I will be fine" I placed a hand on his cheek.
"Are you sure?" he kissed my palm which sent a slight shiver down my hand.
"Yes, you have nothing to worry about. I can use Goggle map if I get lost which I won't. How will you get to work?"
"Fawaz will be waiting for me at your school"
"Okay, let's go. We will be late" I leaned back into the seat. The car roared to life and he drove towards the gate which was quite a long distance from the main house.

Through the tinted window of the car, I could see the magnificent city of London. Amir drove at a steady speed on the black smooth roads passing through the beautiful structures that made London. I sighed mesmerized by the beauty of the city. I have heard a lot about London, visiting it or living in it was the last thing on my mind. It was beautiful as they have said but more beautiful and mesmerizing in reality. By that time in the morning, I noticed there was constant bustle on every street we drove through. Everyone was on a mission to go somewhere or do something. There were people going on by the double decker red busses, people bursting past each other on the street, bikes zooming past traffics, cabbies waiting for their next passengers, men, and women in suits wanting to get to work on time. There was a tangible and lively atmosphere that made the city amazing. Every corner had an interesting place that I wished to be. It was the season of coats, boots, beanie and woven scarfs.
I looked at Amir beside me. He concentrated on the road ahead of him, his eyes brows knitted together. There was excitement pushing through my body, an excitement that made my stomach stir and caused me a slight pain in my stomach.
"You are staring too much do I have something on my face?" Amir broke the silence between us. The corner of my lips moved up before I looked away at the road ahead of me. How do I tell him that I find him attractive and too good looking?
"You got nothing" I replied as we drove past one of those double decker buses.
"Does not seem like it" he glanced at me then back at the road.
"Don't pull my legs Amir" I groaned which he laughed at. His laughter was incredible. It was virile and sensual.
"We are there" he said turning the steering entering a parking lot. I diverted my gaze towards the unfamiliar surroundings.
The parking lot was filled with cars of different brands. Students hang around the school, sitting on the staircases, leaning against the walls, laughing and talking. The parking lot was almost quiet. Those that had just parked their cars walked towards the building. An SUV pulled into an empty space beside our car. A girl jumped down from it, pulling her bag from the passenger's seat, locked it and matched towards the building. I looked back at Amir who was looking at me.
"Your school" he said unlocking his seat belt.
"I like it" I breathe out, my lips arched upwards into a smile. He leaned forward picking his messenger bag that sat beside my feet. I watched him as he rumbled through it then brought out a file and handed it over to me. Curiously, I collected it.
"It has everything that has to do with your admission" he answered looking at the file then my face. He moved closer placing a hand on my cheek, his hand felt so warm against my cool skin. "And take this" he slipped out a card from the opened bag, his thumb stroking my cheek softly. "Your credit card" I collected the card. "And some cash" he held new pound notes out to me.
I could not be more grateful for everything he had been doing. Knowing he cared for my wellbeing was heart touching. I stuffed everything into my bag then looked back at him. He exhaled taking my hand that laid on my laps.
"Thank you" I whispered.
"You shouldn't thank me" he said pressing his lips at the back of my hand. "Angel" he called his voice soft like cotton. Those honey wheat eyes that made my inside mixed up looked troubled. "I do not think I will be able to make it home very early" he said running his index finger against his forehead then looked away, then back at me as if he knew his words would sadden me which actually happened. My throat went dry. I had thought I will see him before I go to bed tonight and together we shall sleep early. I had thought last night was the night he would come home late. He shuffled closer, his hands on cheeks. "You do not have to be sad" he whispered, his minty breath fanned my face. "I will make it up to you. It is just that there is a lot to do at work" he tried to make me feel better.
Smiling, I placed a hand on his shoulder. "It's okay" I said even though my heart had dropped.
"I know it's not okay. You don't have to hide it" he said.
"You are not a banker right?" I asked my voice tiny.
"Why are you asking?"
"Everything that's happening after our marriage says it all. The convoy, the private jet, the manor here, this new car, everything"
"Yes, I am not a banker"
"Why did you lie?"
He told my father he was a banker when we were getting married. He told me the same thing and here I am seeing something different.
"Can we just talk about it some other time?"
"Okay" I nodded my head. "I will miss you" I took his hand.
"I know. I will miss you too. I just wish I can be with you more"
My heart keeps hurting at his words. I wanted him so much, so close and I had dreamt we would spend most time together except when he is at work and I am at school but it seems it would be different.
"We should not talk about it right now. You should leave for work" I said, my voice suddenly distant.
"Hayati"
"It's okay Amir" I gave him a small smile. "You have said we will make up for our lost time. You will be late for work" I picked my bag. "Open the door" I watch him press a button and the doors moved up.
Before I got down, he took my hand making me turn back. His face showed how sorry he was. His eyes looked apologetically at me, my dull heart tightening at the look in his eyes.
"It's really okay" I said placing a hand his face.
"Are you sure?" he asked hopefully.
"Yes, I will call you when I am through"
"Okay, I will be expecting your call" he said, leaning closer. I felt his lips on my forehead before he moved away. "Noor, it is gull-wing" he said making me confused. "The car's doors. Don't say it moves up and it can move without a driver because it is semi-autonomous" I laughed.
"Okay dear. Then have a nice day" I said, my lips twitching up into a real smile. He returned it back with that smile that caused my heart to race. I got down and he did the same thing.
Before he left, he gave me the key to the car. I watched his retreating back. There was something about the way he walked that was graceful and made me admire him more. My heart banged in my chest as I watched him enter a white SUV. I knew there were lots I needed to know about him. There are lots he needed to tell me but that can wait because at that moment, I had a place to explore.
