**Thirty Four**

Waking up to another lazy morning was nothing new. I grumbled out the dua for waking up as I stretched and yawned, sitting up on the bed. Squinting my eyes at the bright sunlight splashing through my opened windows, I turned to the other side of the bed. It was empty. Amir had left bed already. What  is the time? I yawned, a hand over my mouth while looking at the wall clock. My eyes grew wide at what I was staring at. It was past twelve in the afternoon. I slept right after Fajr. Why didn't anyone wake me up? I jumped out of bed and headed to the bathroom to take a bath.

After my long bath, I wore a skinny blue jeans and a white crop top, one of my comfortable wears at home. At last, I can wear those clothes again. There was no need to think about non-mahrams in the house. While I tied my hair to the back, I noticed the hickey on my neck. The spot had turned purple. Amir could really be something at times. I laughed at how I was about walking out of the room without covering it. I would have not heard the end of it from Raihana and embarrassment will almost kill me. I covered the spot with foundation before posing in front of the full length mirror to take pictures. I took few pictures enjoying flaunting my full natural hair and new look to the camera.

My stomach rumbled as if telling me I have not eaten. Holding my stomach with a grimace on my face, I checked the pictures on my phone and deleted the ones that were not really nice. I danced to an imaginary beat as I hopped down the staircase. The house was quiet as if no one was home. The only voice I heard while getting down the staircase was Raihana's voice. She was talking to someone on phone and laughing. When she sighted me at the end of the staircase, she ended her called and smiled at me.

"I thought you were going to wake up in the evening" she teased.

"I was just tired" I said walking to the kitchen. "Where is everyone?"

"Dad left for work. Brother Amir and Kehinde went out. I don't know where before you ask me. Grandma is off to a friend's place. Brother Tolu the driver took her" she said trailing behind me.

"I am hungry. What did you have for breakfast?" I asked opening the fridge.

"I made some special delicacies. I know you must have missed my fried rice, vegetable salad and pepper chicken. So I cooked it even though cooking is not my favourite thing" she said grinning.

"That's so good. Thanks" I hugged her. "Where is the food?" I groaned climbing the stool by the kitchen island.

"Is that your new phone? When did you get it?" She asked attracted to my phone I had kept on the work top.

"Amir got it for me" I replied unflappably.

"Wow, Samsung. He changed your phone to Samsung galaxy note 8. Why did you not get iPhone?" she picked the phone.

"I don't like it"

"What!" she screamed. The look on her face was hilarious.

"Who does not like iPhone? iPhone is bae" she gave me the phone to unlock.

"Well, it is not bae? Samsung is bae" I unlocked the phone. "I would rather buy the latest Samsung that get the latest iPhone"

"You are weird. I have never seen anyone who does not like iPhone"

"You've seen one now. Abeg give me my food. Hunger dey fire me" My stomach growled.

"What did you do to your hair?"

"I relaxed it. You know how stubborn my hair was" she strolled through my phone. "Your phone is dry. There are no games. Not even snap chat" she grimaced.

Raihana and I had the same type of hair. The difference was mine was softer and more voluminous. I loved my hair. I was one of the lucky ones with medium length hair. Raihana's hair was not short or long but it was okay in length. I do not think for any reason will I relax my precious African hair. I love it so very much.

"I was too busy to have it"

"What a nice picture" she turned my phone towards me. The picture was mine and Amir. It was a picture we took one of our mornings after we had dressed for work. "I am sending it" she brought her phone out of her pocket

"Don't you dare send it?"

"Ha! Why now? But I want to show my sister and her husband's picture to my friends"

"I do not want you to flaunt my husband's picture to your friends. So, do not send it and I mean it. I don't trust those friends of yours even though you are to show them my husband's picture. They should not snatch my man from me"

"But they are not like that o" she pouted. I made a face at her naive word.

"Stop sleeping Tee. Wake up!"

"You have a message from your hubby" she said with a naughty smile, her eyebrows dancing.

"Give me my phone" I said with a stern voice.

"Oh!" she said in awe. "What a message?"

"Taiwo" I rumbled. "Give me my phone and don't you dare read that message" I stretched out my hand.

"I was just kidding. What are you hiding? Now you have a man in your life and you are rubbing it on my face abi?" she shoved the phone into my hand.

I laughed. Typical Raihana. She makes you feel guilty when you are not. My heart pommelled as I opened the message.

"How are you doing? I miss you already. Just want to check on you since I could not wake you up in the morning. You are beautiful when you are sleeping. You hair was something else" the message said with a laughing emoticon at the end then a love emoticon.

"Oh my Allah! You are blushing" Raihana's voice cut through my trance.

I have not realised I was blushing until I felt how stretched my lips were. She was right. Immediately, I stopped smiling and tried to reduce the heat on my cheeks.

"What did he send to you?" she tried peeping into the phone.

"Stop it" I said placing the phone on my chest to block the screen.

"I just wanted to see" she pouted.

"Mind your business and the microwave is beeping" She took out my food and placed it in front of me.

"I am fine Alhamdulillah. I am missing you too. Really, I am flattered. Can't wait to see your gorgeous face" I replied Amir's message back.

"I will be going out after Zuhr" I said to Raihana.

"Why now?" she protested stomping her feet on the floor.

"Why are you like this? I have friends to meet. I promised to meet Feyi and Temi" I told her.

"So, you guys are all leaving me at home"

"Don't you have anywhere to be? And are you not supposed to be doing your NYSC now?"

"We are leaving next week"

"You and who?"

"Raihan and I"

"Which states are you transferred to?"

"Abuja, the capital of Nigeria!" she screamed with gaudy smile. "Raihan was posted to Port Harcourt. I won't see his face for a while"

"You finally got your dream state"

"Yes and I am so going to tour Abuja. Abuja here I come!" she said with hands spread out.

"Raihana, I have to eat" I said not able to take the emptiness in my stomach.

"But you are going out" she whined.

"Call one of your friends and hang out with them"

"I don't have money"

"I will give you"

"Wow, you are the best" she hugged me. "But you are not working. Where will you get money to give me and how did you get money to buy those designer stuffs" curiosity laced her voice.

"Amir hid so much from me Aburo mi. I don't like saying this to people so it won't sound like I am bragging but he is wealthy"

"Wealthy? How rich is he? "

"Rich enough to be running a company that his billionaire father left behind"

"Iro ni" she mused.

"It is true my dear but zip your lips"

"You don't know how happy I am to see you back home. I have really missed you" she said hands still around me.

"I missed you too" I hugged her back.

"How has school been and that Korean lady that is your friend?"

"School is fine and Mi Jin is her name"

"You made new friends in London"

"Yes" I continued eating.

"I hope your new family is treating you well. You don't have to endure pain just to stay in a marriage you might not be enjoying" she said with worry in her eyes.

"Tee" I laughed. "What makes you think like that?"

"I am just assuming" she shrugged.

"You are unbelievable. I am happy and his family are good to me especially his mother's family" I held her hand. "I love Amir and he loves me. You have absolutely nothing to worry about"

"If you say so, I am happy. I just want the best for you because your happiness is also mine"

I stared at her, words not finding my lips. She was amazing. The type of sister anyone would have. The fact that she loved me touched my heart that water gathered in my eyes.

"Thank you so much" I wrapped my hands around her.

"You just admitted you love your husband. You have never said that to me" she pointed out after we pulled away.

"Don't say another word about that Raihana" I warned and carried on with my food. She laughed before sitting beside me to indulge me in a conversation.
