Late July

After a very long day at the sandlot, you all went home since the sun was going down

"We start our sophomore year in September, you know," I say as Benny graves my hand to hold it in his interlocking our fingers while walking home.

" Yeah, and we'll be 16 in October." Benny stopped talking for a second, "Dang Carolina, you're old." 

"That's a bit mean Benny and you're older than me by a day so you're old and I'm the young one," I say pulling my hand away from his and putting it to my heart acting offended even though I wasn't.

"Well, I may be old, but at least I'm good-looking. Some even say I'm hot," he said matter-of-factly. He was attractive, but obviously, I won't tell him he was right. What kind of girlfriend would I be if I told him he was right?

"And who told you that, your grandma?" I say jokingly as I walk backward to face him. "Only one of us can be hot, and that's me, duh."

"You're hot but not as hot as me so don't flatter yourself," he said I stopped dead in my tracks and Benny also stopped because if he walked he would bump into me "What?" he said

"Did you just call me hot?" I ask as I feel my face heat up but not blush because all brown people know it's hard to blush.

"Yes, and I also said don't flatter yourself," he says 

I step a little closer to him to kiss him, but then a bright idea pops into my head. he leans his head down to kiss me as well, and just as our lips are about to meet, I grab his blue LA Dodgers cap and start running to my house. Benny was dumbfounded by this and started running after me.

"Try and catch me, Benny."The jet," Rodriguez, " I yell over my shoulder, giggling. I was fast really fast, but Benny was faster way faster.

 Just as I was about to open the door to my house, Benny wrapped his arms around my arms and body, lifting me from the ground and spinning me a little before putting me back down. he started kissing me all over my face. My forehead, my nose, my cheeks, my jawline, and I giggled like a little 5-year-old girl getting tickled by her parents but just as he was about to kiss my lips the front door opened and there was my mom looking at us in shock.
