So for those who recall my theory/headcanon about Gru being fluent in 3 three languages, those being Russian, Spanish, and of coarse English. Well I remember the "23 and Me" comercial that advertised Despicable Me 3 and I found it as an opportunity as to find out where excatly is Gru from? And this is what I found.

Assuming this is canon, Gru's ancestry consistes more of Freedonia then any place. For those who don't know, Freedonia is a fictional place to be found in Europe. I'm surprised to see his strong connection with that place the most, guessing his ancestors originated from Freedonia. 

Going back to my theory/headcanon, it is no where to be found which he is a slightest part related around Russia. I mean I, along with others, thought he was plain Russian from what his accent gave away. However, I still find it adorable just thinking about Gru teaching his daughters Russian phrases once in a while. Also about the Spanish speaking part, I guess Gru could have learned or easily picked up a bit of Spanish as a teen or an early adult. 

I guess I was only close on the fact of him being European. Also he's a small percentage Japanese is pretty surprising too! Remember that Minionese consistes of Japanese as well and which might make Gru's job as speaking (unfluently as seen in DM3) Minionese~
