Time flew by in the Siberian Hydra base. Bucky and Y/N became BFFs. Y/N saw Bucky as a big brother  and  Bucky  saw Y/N as a little sister. When Y/N was almost two, the Hydra managers had a very long and difficult discussion about what to do with Y/N. Finally they came up with the conclusion that they would freeze her, and wake her up every ten years for thirty days, six times.

An agent was sent to go tell Bucky. He found him outside while Y/N was having a nap.

"James, I have come to report the news to you."

"What is it?"

"Y/N will be frozen."

"WHATT!? Nooo you can't do that! She's only one!" He blurted, his heart raced as he thought of loosing her and becoming the winter soldier again.

"We will freeze her the day after her second birthday. She will be frozen for ten years and wake up for thirty days. This process will be repeated six times. Are we clear?"

"NO NO NO OF COURSE WE'RE NOT CLEAR! THIS. CAN'T. HAPPEN!" Bucky shouted at the agent.

"Save your complaints for the boss." The agent said and walked away.

Bucky was left in utter distress. How am I going to handle seeing her every ten years? I can't! I'll probably die by the end and she will still be a baby. How is Y/N going to process this? Will she accidentally show her powers from..." his thoughts were interrupted by a tug on his pants. He looked down. It was Y/N.

"Oh hey baby, what is it?"
"Why were you shouting?"
"You heard that? I'm five miles away from the base! And how did you find me?" Bucky blurted while putting his arms on his hips and leaning over to talk to the baby.

"I um-"
"Sweetheart i have something to tell you... and I'm really mad about it and I really don't want it to happen but i need to tell you."
"Okay..."

They went back to the base together holding hands and then they went to their bedroom. Y/N sat on the bed cris cross apple sauce and Bucky leaned against the wall. He was very sad and his eyes were teary.

"They are going to freeze you." Bucky said glumly.

"Oh... That's alright. As long as you also get frozen so i can wake up and you be there. Same age. Or maybe I could stay awake so i get older so..."

"I don't think they will let us do whatever we want Y/N. We're lucky enough i got the breakfast to be more abundant than the sour glass of milk and slice of moldy bread we used to get." Bucky interrupted.

"Yeah i know... but I'm sure they would be kind... wouldn't they?"

"They can't be kind! I almost killed them to get nice breakfast. I will though ask if i can be frozen along side you and wake up with you. Okay?"

"Okay Bucky." Y/N said, she got off the bed and went and hugged Bucky. He got on his knees and hugged her back. They stayed like that for a while.

A few months later it was Y/N's second birthday. She woke up and went over to Bucky's bed to jump on it and wake him up. "It's my birthday! It's my birthday!" She said. She then ran out of their room and ran up and down the hall shouting it for everyone to hear.

Bucky groaned and rubbed his eyes and heard Y/N shouting and singing.

"It's my birthday! I'm two years old! Say happy birthday! Don't be shy! Wake up everyone!" Bucky heard Y/N's voice ruffled from being far away. He also heard little thuds from her running.

"SHUT UP KID OR I WILL FREEZE YOU RIGHT NOW!" The boss shouted while coming out of his room tying the rope on white dressing gown. He grabbed Y/N as she ran past and yanked her back.

"Owww!" She shrieked. The boss then gave her a hard smack on her butt for waking him and everyone else up.

"Have you seen anyone celebrating their birthday? No! Because birthdays don't mean anything!" He squeezed Y/N's arm bruising it and then gave her a kick that sent her flying forward.

Bucky had gotten up when he heard the shriek and was standing at the door. He had wanted to help Y/N but then they would freeze her right then. So he didn't save her.

From the kick she flew forward and Bucky caught her midair. His metal arm was securely around her waist holding her.

"Come on Y/N. We'll celebrate your birthday together! Never mind all those hardheaded loosers."

"Okay Bucky" Y/N said still being held by the metal arm. "Can you put me down now?" She turned her head to look at him.

"Yes" he then put his right arm under Y/N to hold her like in a chair. Then he let her down.

"You're metal arm hurts a bit..."

"Oh! Sorry Y/N!" He said sad for hurting her.

"It's okay." Y/N said smiling at Bucky. "The smack hurt more and my arm is bruised from Boss. What even is his name?"

"Oh child! I'll take you to the nurse she'll put some ice on it. And i have no idea what his name is either." Bucky took Y/N by the hand and went to the nurse before breakfast.

*at the nurse

"You are my rarest patient you know! I've learned all the other children's names, but not yours." The nurse said to Y/N as she put ice on Y/N's arm.

Y/N was sitting on the patient bed kicking her legs. "Well my name is Y/N! What is yours?"

"I'm Nellie Nelson,   nice to meet you Y/N!" The kind nurse put out her hand and Y/N shook it.

After breakfast the two went to the park to play.

When they got there, Y/N looked at Bucky and an idea popped into her head.
"We should plant a tree together!"

"Woah Y/N! What a brilliant idea! I'd love to do that!" Bucky said getting exited.

"Alrighty then, what tree should we plant?" Y/N asked Bucky as she went over to the swings. She jumped on it and started swinging.

"Apple?"

"Yeah! " y/n said and clapped her tiny hands.

"How about I plant an apple seed and you plant a pair seed? And then they will grow around each other and it will be beautiful!" Bucky said sitting on a swing and pushing himself.

"That's... that would be so special!" Y/N exclaimed and swung high in the sky back and forth.

"Yeah it would be..." Bucky said softly and looked at the little Y/N on her swing. His hearth always thumped faster when he was with her. He loved her so much.

After playing at the park Y/N and Bucky went back to the base to get the seeds. Then they went to an open field and dug a whole, put the seeds in, covered the whole and watered the seeds.
