Third POV
Y/N and Eren are falling from the air

Eren: What are you doing, Y/N!?

Y/N didn’t respond, instead he grappled towards the wall as he carried Eren

Y/N: I’m saving you from getting killed. You can thank me later

Y/N throws Eren as far as he could

Y/N: You better use your ODM gear! Or else you’ll actually be killed!

Eren uses his mobility gear and grapples on top of the wall. The cadets gather on top of the wall and a Garrison soldier greets them and tells them that Operation Colossal Titan Reponse in effect and that they need to go to HQ.

At HQ, Y/N and the other new recruits are getting their gear for battle. Y/N was putting gas into his ODM gear

Marcel: Hey Y/N

Marcel said from afar as he signaled him to follow him. Y/N obliged and followed Marcel where he meets the other Warriors

Y/N: It seems like you guys started the mission without me

Annie: It would be too much of a hassle to tell you about it

Lara: Also considering that you were on top of Trost and if any of us tried to you something then it would be suspicious

Pieck: But we knew you would be fine

Y/N: Whatever, anyways we should keep a low profile-

Bertolt: For our next attack, Reiner will transform into his Titan and destroy the inner gate

Marcel: We’ll pick the right time and place where no one would suspect it

Y/N: Ok then, it’s a plan

Footsteps were being heard from the Warriors and they were getting closer

Reiner: Right, let’s go

Everyone arrives at the central part of HQ and they are being told that the Advance team has been wiped out and that the outer gate has been filled with Titans. The cadets disperse to go to their assigned posts.

Y/N: ‘Damn it, what am I supposed to do if my friends really plan for Reiner to transform. I have no excuse but to participate no matter the-’

Ian: L/N, you’re assigned at the rear guard. You'll be coming with me and Ackerman with the other Garrison soldiers

Y/N: ‘Perfect timing’ Of course, sir

Y/N follows Ian and they both go to Mikasa who is talking to Eren

Ian: Ackerman, you are assigned to be at the rear guard. You and L/N will be coming with me.

Mikasa: But sir! I’m a cadet! I’ll slow everyone down!

Y/N: You say that but I’m also assigned to be at the rear guard

Ian: As what L/N meant to say, you will be coming with us because we have been informed that you and L/N were extremely amazing in your classes as cadets. No questions being asked, you have to come

Ian turns around and Y/N follows

A while after, a group of soldiers are chasing after an Abnormal Titan who is going after the inner gate

Soldier 1: Damn, why is it ignoring us?!

Soldier 2: It's an Abnormal! Don’t think too much about it!

Soldier 3: It’s fast! Even we elites can’t catch up to it?!

Soldier 4: Just stay on him!

From behind the other soldiers, Mikasa races ahead. She latches onto the neck of the Abnormal Titan and slices through

Mikasa: Yah!

The Abnormal Titan falls just before it reaches a crowd of residents. Y/N quickly follows behind Mikasa and lands on top of the Titan.

Y/N: You beat me to it huh Mikasa

Y/N says as he puts his hand behind his back

Mikasa points towards the crowd and they both notice the crowd of residents and the merchants trying to push their caravan through.

Y/N: What the hell are you guys doing?

Merchant: Oh, perfect timing. Hey both of you, make these people help me out! I’ll reward you handsomely!

Y/N: My friends are sacrificing their lives right now for you to live. Their sacrifices are in vain because you guys are taking too long

Merchant: Course they are! It’s your duty to offer your lives to protect citizens and their property, is it not?! Don’t get full of yourselves just because you freeloaders are finally doing your job after a hundred years!

Mikasa hops down from the Abnormal Titans head. She begins walking through the crowd toward the merchant boss.

Mikasa: If you think it’s natural for people to die for others, I’m sure you’ll understand that at times, the sacrifice of a single precious life can save many others.

Merchant: Don’t you even dare! Your commander and I are old friends! One word from me and you’ll be court-martialed!

The merchant boss’s henchmen rush toward Mikasa. She easily knocks them out with a blow to their backs and continues walking toward the merchant boss.

Mikasa: Is that going to come from beyond the grave?

Y/N hops down the Titans head and runs towards Mikasa as she raises her blade. Y/N grabs Mikasa arm lightly and he stares at the merchant from Mikasa’s shoulder as they both have emotionless expressions

Y/N: Don’t underestimate her sir. Or else the next time that she tries to raise up her blade, I won’t stop her.

The merchant get’s terrified and he orders his henchmen to move the wagon out. The wagon came out and the residents began to evacuate.

Mikasa: I had everything handled

Y/N: I know, but sometimes it takes two brave and serious people to intimidate a douchebag.

Mikasa was about to grin but then Y/N finds that a girl dropped her toy. Y/N picks up the toy and sees the girl standing in front of him

Girl: You guys were amazing!

The girl hugs Y/N’s leg with appreciation

Mother: Both of you have saved our lives. All of us are in your debt

Mikasa puts her blades away and places her hand over her heart before walking away. Y/N gives back the girl her toy and she goes back to her mom

Y/N: Don’t worry about it, miss. We signed up to protect the citizens. It’s our duty as soldiers you know. Not like how that douchebag interpreted it, but it’s good to know that not all of you are as bad as him

Y/N places his hand over his heart and smiles at the mother and her daughter before closely following behind Mikasa

Some time later. It begins to rain hard. The Abnormal Titan begins to dissolve as Ian, Mikasa and Y/N are standing on top of a roof

Ian: Good work taking it down, Ackermann. I’m impressed.

Mikasa: Thank you very much. However… I dulled my blades with a single blow in my impatience. I’ll be more mindful next time.

Y/N wraps his arm around Mikasa’s shoulder

Y/N: Don’t worry about it captain, she’s always this modest about herself. Everytime you see a Titan and she’s with you, she’ll slice open that Titan’s nape without a second thought

Ian: It seems like you know a lot about Ackerman, you her boyfriend or something

Mikasa blushes about what Ian just said

Y/N: Nope, she already got a man waiting for her, am I right?

Mikasa blushes harder as she stares at the ground touching her scarf

Y/N: Even if I did want her to be my lover, I already would have

Y/N pulls out his arm around from Mikasa’s neck and smirks at Mikasa as her eyes was shocked

Later on, Y/N and Mikasa move through the city, cutting down Titans. They both land on a roof together

Mikasa: If you want, you can come with me so we can help our friends withdrawing

Mikasa quickly moves away while she ignores Ian’s orders

Y/N sighs in response to this

Y/N: Mikasa! Wait! I’m coming with you!

Y/N moves with his ODM gear as well and follows Mikasa. Ian sees Y/N and Mikasa moving farther away from him as they go help with the vanguard’s withdraw

Ian: ‘They really do look like a couple’
