Prologue: The Day that Ended and Started it all.
It was a cool summer night. The chirps of Crickets and Frogs peacefully echoed through the night, and of course mosquitoes were out and about doing their pesky mosquito things.
You were a senior student in high School who had just finished his final exam. You hadn't received your grades for said exams yet, but the only one you truly struggled with was Math. Even then, you're confident you passed.
Regardless, Summer Break was just around the corner with a few days at school left, and with your exams being over these next couple days were going to be a breeze.
While most people would go outside and enjoy the outdoors on a night like this, you preferred to stay indoors and play Online Video Games with your friends. Some you knew in real life, others you only knew Online.
After lifting the stress of exams off of your shoulders, it was only natural that you would celebrate by doing what you loved most. Having fun with your friends.
You were currently sitting in your bedroom. Lights off, in front of your T.V, and your gaming console booted up.
Your friends had planned what they called a "Mega-Gaming Session". Since they like you had finished their exams as well. Sitting in an in-game call with them, you all pondered on about which game you wanted to play.
Y/N: What's up, guys?
Friend 1: Yo!! You done your exams?
Y/N: Yessir!! Got my last one done today!
Friend 2: We're all set then!
Friend 1: Hell yeah!!!
Friend 4: *Yelling at his siblings* HEY! Stop they yellin'!!
Y/N: So Uhh...what game are we playing?
Friend 2: Hm...Fighterz?
Friend 3: Nah, man! You always sweat!
Friend 2: Just get better~
Friend 4: I'd also rather not. We wanna have fun tonight.
Friend 3: What about Fortnite? We haven't played that in a good while.
Y/N: Aren't they doing like 6 different collars right now?
Friend 4: Of course you'd know.
Y/N: It's a little hard not to when Fortnite memes are all over social media...
Friend 4: Meh. Fortnite isn't really my thing regardless.
Y/N: Fair.
Friend 4: What about Minecraft? When was the last time we played that?
Y/N: I would be down for that but these two goobers always kill each other when we try to start a serious survival world...
Friend 2 and 3: That isn't the SLIGHTEST bit true.
Y/N: Heh, my clips say otherwise. Say, we never finished that Terraria run we were doing, you guys down for that?
Friend 2: Hm...I'm down.
Friend 3: Ye, Terraria's fine.
Friend 4: I haven't played Terraria in a hot minute. Let's do it.
Y/N: Cool!
Time Skip: 2 Hours Later
Y/N: Oh, C'mon!! These Eater of Souls are so damn annoying!!
Friend 2: Yeah, for you maybe...
Y/N: Shut it, Mr. Ranger Class.
Friend 3: Alright, don't break that Bee Hive...it could spawn—
Friend 4: Break it? *Breaks it*
Friend 3: DUDE, NO—
Queen Bee has Awoken.
Y/N: BRO, WHAT DID YOU DO?!
Despite what it sounded like, you were all having a good time. However, your fun was interrupted when your phone started going off. The sound of the amber alert notification filled the entire house, and you could've sworn you heard it from a couple of the guys' mics.
Y/N: Huh?
You didn't bother reading it. Usually it's just a test or something. However this wasn't one of those cases, and you would quickly learn this the hard way.
You heard the sound of a door practically breaking outside your room, catching you by surprise as the sound of rapid footsteps followed.
Your father barged into your room without warning with a look of pure fear on his face. You nearly jumped out of your seat from the sudden scare.
Dad: BASEMENT!
Y/N: Hold on, Dad! What's happening—
Dad: NOW!!
Y/N: OKAY, OKAY, I'M GOING!!
Complying with your Father's abrupt demand, you rushed into the Basement see your Mother already there, panicking in the middle of the room.
Y/N: Mom?! What's happening?!
Mom: We just got a warning for Nuclear Bombs being launched in our area! The notification said to evacuate but there's no time! Getting cover is our best chance!!
Y/N: What the hell?!
At that moment, dozens of different sounds began to fill your ears. Sirens, Screams, an Alarm, Cars rushing up and down the road, and then it was all silenced by a loud explosion.
BOOM!!!
You could feel your entire house shaking upon the impact of the Bomb, the explosion itself hadn't even reached you yet and it was already tearing your home apart.
Your Father then joined you and your Mother in the basement as you all huddled together, tears leaking from their eyes as you had finally processed the situation.
Y/N: We're going to Die...
Mom: F/N, I'm scared!!
Dad: Don't be, M/N, we have each other. Even if this is the End, being along side you and our son is more than I could've asked for...
Mom: No, F/N, don't say that!!
Dad: You know as well as I do that when the explosion gets here, the damage will be devastating.
Sighing in defeat, you watched as your mother gained the same sad but at the same time secure look on her face as her husband. Both of them pulling you into an embrace as you didn't say anything. You couldn't believe what was happening.
Both: We love you, Y/N...
Y/N: I-I...I...
Before you could even finish your sentence, the entire neighborhood was engulfed in a gigantic explosion that swallowed up your house in seconds.
After that, everything went dark. It was quick and there was no pain. You couldn't move, you couldn't speak, Breathe, Hear, Speak, nothing. Was this what it felt like to be Dead?
Time Skip
You could slowly feel the coolness of air entering your lungs again. Everything was cold. The ground below you felt soft and moist.
You had no grasp on how long it had been. Your entire body felt numb and tired, but nothing was in pain.
Slowly opening your eyes, you were greeted by the sight of trees, the sky, and snow. Lots and lots of Snow.
Y/N: W...Winter...?
You struggled, but eventually you managed to get up from the ground. The ground was coated with at least 10 centimetres of snow. You stumbled and looked around in shock.
Y/N: How long was I out...? What is this place?! It was just summertime...!! Hello?! Is somebody there?! Anybody?!
There was no answer. The only sound you heard was the cold wind blowing last you. You looked down in despair as you remembered your family saying goodbye.
Y/N: Mom...Dad...if I survived...they might have made it too!! I have to find them!!
With that you ran off. Your Heart was filled with fear that they might actually be gone. Running into the distance as you continued to call for any help.
