Our heroes arrived at Nacrene city and discovering that the Nacrene Gym is inside the city museum, our heroes meet a very scared man. His name is Hawes, and it turns out that he's soon to become co-curator of the museum. He claims to have seen ghostlike apparitions recently, just as the museum is about to launch what is called the Secret Artifact Exhibition.

Palutena decided to help Hawes out by scanning the museum with her aura and something caught her attention. She entered the museum scanning the exhibits, she spotted something interesting.

"Hawes, is this mask part of the artifacts you ordered?" Palutena asked.

"Actually no, i thought it was a bonus."

"Well you thought wrong, this mask is the real deal." Palutena explained." The Yamask must had been brought in along with the artifacts and had dropped it mask, by mistaking it for a replica and putting on display, you angered it." Soon

"I see, i  feel bad for mistaking it's mask for a replica."

Y/n sent out his Lucario who used foresight, after some looking he managed to reveal the Yamask.

Curious, Ash pulled out his Pokedex to scan the new Pokemon.

"Yamask, the Spirit Pokemon. Yamask is a Ghost-type Pokemon that wanders the ruins of ancient civilizations." The Pokedex beeped.

Hawes opened the glass display and Yamask took it's mask back, Hawes apologized to the spirit Pokemon who accepted and left peacefully.

Soon Hawes's wife Lenora and the Nacrene city appeared, after she was informed of what happened, she accepted Y/n and Ash's challenge. 

Soon they were at the back of the museum where's there's a library, after pulling a book that lead to the gym, Y/n and Lenora got ready.

"Lucario battle time!"

"Lillipup lets go!"

Ash pulled out his Pokedex to scan the new Pokemon

"Lillipup, the Puppy Pokemon. The long hair covering Lillipup's face is an excellent radar, which senses conditions in the surrounding area."

"Lillipup roar!"

Lillipup's body becomes outlined in a crimson aura and it yells loudly, releasing invisible shock waves from its mouth that expand outward. The yell has enough force to push Lucario next to his trainer as Y/n's Milotic was forced out.

"Lillipup return." Lenora recalled the puppy Pokemon. "Watchog go!"

"Watchog, the Lookout Pokemon, and the evolved form of Patrat. Watchog's body contains luminescent compounds, which allow its eyes and stripes to glow." Ash's Pokedex to beep.

"Mean look!"

Watchog closes its eyes and its body becomes surrounded in a dark purple aura. It then opens its eyes and they glow bright red. The purple aura then rises into the air and forms an eye with a black pupil. The eye then becomes surrounded in a magenta aura, and multiple smaller eyes with a magenta outline appear around it and spread throughout the battlefield. Milotic's body then becomes surrounded in a magenta aura.

"So that's your plan huh? Not bad at all." Y/n smirked." But it's gonna take more then that to rattle me, hydro pump!"

"Dodge and sand attack!"

Milotic fired a blast of water at Watchog who dodged and throws sand at Milotic using its hands. The attack hit, slightly blinding  Milotic. The tender Pokemon suddenly glowed red slightly.

"Hydro pump!"

Milotic fired a larger blast of water at Watchog which hit it's mark, the was strong enough to knock the Lookout Pokemon into the wall behind Lenora knocked out.

Lenora recalled Watchog." Does your Milotic have Competitive by any chance?" She asked.

"Indeed she does."

"That explains it"

"Huh? What does Competitive do?" Iris asked.

"It's a ability that raises the users special attack when one of it's stats are lowered, in the case of Milotic, it was her accuracy." Cilan explains. 

Lenora once again sent out Lillipup.

"Bite!"

"Ice beam!"

Lillipup's fangs glowed before lunging at Milotic, the tender Pokemon dodged without command before firing three light blue lighting bolts that struck Lillipup head on and knocking it to the ground. When the puppy Pokemon hit the ground, it revealed it was down and out.

After recalling Lillipup,  Y/n and Lenora shook hands before Lenora gave Y/n the Basic badge. After a short trip to the Pokemon center later, it was Ash's turn.

Lenora once again sent out Lillipup while Ash sent out Tepig.

"Roar!"

Tepig was forced back into his Pokeball and a sleepy Oshawott was forced out.

Lenora once again switched to Watchog and used mean look to lock Oshawott in battle.

"Low kick!"

Watchog ducks down and swings one of its legs around, tripping Oshawott. This annoyed the Sea Otter Pokemon awake.

"Thunderbolt!" 

Watchog fired a blast of electricity at Oshawott. 

"Remember our training Oshawott, deflect it with your scalchop." Using one hand and his scalchop, Oshawott swatted away the thunderbolt much to the surprise of Lenora and Watchog.

"Razor shell!"

Oshawott grabs his scalchop , which produces a light blue aura, forming into an energy blade. Oshawott then charged at Watchog who dodged some of his attacks before knocking the scalchop away with it's tail.

"Thundebolt!"

Watchog fired several lighting bolts at  Oshawott who dodged them while making his way to his scalchop. When he picked it up, Watchog was tried for using so many thunderbolts in a short time.

"Razor shell!

Taking advantage of Watchog's exhaustion, Oshawott rushed in and struck the lookout Pokemon several times knocking it back, when it landed, it was down and out.

Lenora recalled Watchog and Ash did the same with Oshawott, they then sent out Lillipup and Tepig respectively.

"Shadow ball!"

"Flame charge!"

Lillipup created several purple/ black balls of energy and fired them at Tepig who dodged and engulfed himself in fire before charging at Lillipup.

The attack hit it's mark sending Lillipup back, it growled before firing a few more shadow balls.

"Giga impact!"

"It knows a high leveled move like Giga impact?" Quite impressive for a Lillipup to master it." Palutena said impressed.

Lillipup's body becomes surrounded by orange energy and it bursts into a purple orb that becomes surrounded by swirling orange streaks. It then charged at Tepig. 

"Flame charge!"

 Tepig once again engulfed himself in fire before charging at at the incoming Lillipup, the two clashed and Lillipup overpowered Tepig sending him back. The fire pig Pokemon  landed hard but managed to get back up.

Knowing of giga impact's drawback, Ash acted quickly. "Tackle to flame charge!" He called out surprising almost everyone.

Tepig charged at Lillipup before he once again engulfed himself in fire and struck Lillipup hard enough to sent the puppy Pokemon to the wall knocked out.

After both recalled their Pokemon, Ash was also given the Basic badge as a prove of his victory.

Soon our heroes were at the Pokemon center, as they waited for  the Pokemon to heal along with lunch, Y/n could only wonder what the future holds as the journey continues.
