After Y/n cleared his trail, they continued on to pewter city. On their way they met a samurai that challenged Ash to a battle.

Thanks to Y/n's lessons Ash won using Pidgeotto and Metapod using steel wing and electroweb  that Y/n help teach. Metapod evolved to Butterfree after the battle.

  Y/n also taught Ash's Pikachu moves like iron tail to help him with rock and ground types.

When they reached pewter city they went to the Pokemon center to rest their Pokemon.

When there Y/n decided to call his M/n to let her know he reached pewter city.

" Hey dear, how's your journey coming along"? M/n asked

" It's going fine mom, we just reached pewter city. Y/n said.

" Pewter city? Well good luck, i heard there's a gym there, and i know how i can help you". M/n said confusing Y/n.

" Your uncle want you to have this Pokemon when you passed a trail, the reason i didn't give it to you when i was in kanto because i wanted you to reach pewter city first. M/n explained.

 " Really? When you see him again say hi and thank you for me." Y/n said .

" I will honey, I'm sending the Pokeball over now. M/n said with smile.

The transfer device activated and transferred over the Dive ball. 

" I got it right here mom." Y/n said while holding up the Dive ball for her to see.

" That's good dear, i know you'll take good care of him, i have to go now bye". M/n said waving.

" Bye Mom" Y/n said as he hung up.

Y/n and the others decided to head for the gym. When they reach there they were greeted with the gym leader Brock.

 They already decided to let Y/n go first to let Ash see what he's up against.

" Go Geodude". Brock called out his first Pokemon. 

" Let's go Nidoran" Y/n called out the posion pin Pokemon.

" Geodude rollout." Brock called out. Geodude curled up before rolling in high speed to Nidoran. " Dodge and use toxic." Y/n called out.

Nidoran moved out of the way at the last second before firing a blob of posion at Geodude, the  blob hit it's target posioning it. " Oh no Geodude!" Brock called out worried.

" Now use Double kick back to back". Y/n commanded taking advantage. Nidoran runs to Geodude and kicks  Geodude repeatedly. "Geodude use mega punch!" Brock called out desperately.

Geodude gathered power into it's fist and tried to punch Nidoran, but Nidoran moved out of the way in the last moment. " Now venoshock" Y/n called out. Nidoran fired a stream of venom at Geodude, and because Geodude was posioned the damage was doubled.

The damage was to much for Geodude to handle so it went down and out.

" Oh no Geodude." Brock cried out in worry. 

" Great job Nidoran, you did it." Y/n cheered. 

"NIDO" Nidoran cried out, clearly proud.

" Alright way to go Y/n." Ash cheered . Pika pika! Pikachu cheered as well.

" That was great Y/n." Misty also cheered.

Brock returned Geodude with a smile. "Great job Geodude you did your best, have a good rest. Brock said before turning to Y/n, " well i'm impressed, i never met a rookie a skilled as you before.

" Thanks i had a lot of practise before coming to kanto".  Y/n said.

" Coming to kanto? Your not from this region?" Brock asked.

" Yeah, i'm from the alola region. And i'm i bit surprised to see what Geodude from kanto look like. Y/n said.

" Huh? what do you mean?" Brock asked curiously. Ash and Misty were confused for a bit before remembering what Y/n told them about regional variants.

" You see, in alola some Pokemon look different because these Pokemon have uniquely adapted to habitats that a different that those where its species naturally live in other parts of the world. For example, Geodudes are rock and electric types in alola. Y/n explained.

" I see..." Brock said interested before turning serious again." All that aside, let's continue our battle. 

"Onix go!" Brock called out is second Pokemon.  

" An Onix huh? Nidoran return for now." Y/n called back the posion pin Pokemon before pulling out his Dive ball.

" Huh? I didn't see Y/n have that Pokeball before, where he get it?" Ash asked confused.

" I've heard of that Pokeball before, it's called a Dive ball, a Pokeball that works best underwater." Misty explained. "I wonder what Pokemon is in it".

" Let's go Gyarados." Letting out the atrocious Pokemon who let out a roar. 

" No way!" Brock cried out shocked.

" Why did it had to be a Gyarados?" Misty asked shaking in fear.

"Who's that Pokemon?" Ash asked he shakingly pointed his Pokedex at Gyarados to scan it. 

" Gyarados the atrocious Pokemon and the evolved form of Magikarp. Rumors exist of a town that made Gyarados angry. That town was burned to the ground in one night, leaving no trace.

Though Y/n's Gyarados looked a little different, first it was red instead of blue, it's also larger than a normal Gyarados, it also has a band around it's neck with a gem on it. 

Gyarados looked at Y/n for a moment, before licking him to show his affection. Y/n laughed has he patted the atrocious Pokemon.

The others were confused, surprised that the Gyarados is so calm. 

Seeing the confused looks " This Gyarados used to belong to my uncle, he gave him to me for passing my trail. Y/n explained.

" Trail?" Brock asked confused.

One explanation later

" I see..." Brock said interested.

" let's continue the battle, Onix rock tomb!" Brock called out.

Onix slams its tail on the ground that causes rocks to be sent flying to Gyarados, but Gyarados dodges them.  " Aqua tail!" Y/n commanded. Gyarados covered his tail with water before slamming it against Onix.

Onix was pushed back, greatly damaged by the hit. 

" Onix use dig!" Brock called out hoping to  catch his opponent of guard. Onix then dug into the ground.

Y/n knew what Brock was planning and was one step ahead. " Earthquake now" Y/n knew it'll flush out the rock snake Pokemon and deal twice the damage because of Onix using dig.

Gyarados slammed his tail on the ground causing it to violently shake, both Y/n and Brock to try and steady themselves while Ash and Misty held on to the railing.

The ground near Gyarados exploded, when the dust died down, it showed Onix has been taken down. 

"Alright way to go Y/n!" Ash cheered. Pika pika. Pikachu cheered with him.

"You did it Y/n, way to go" Misty cheered as well.

Brock returned Onix. "Good job Onix take a good rest."

Brock walked to Y/n as he return Gyarados.

" Well done, as prove of your victory here's the boulder badge."  Brock said as he gives Y/n the badge.

" Thank you Brock." Y/n said taking the badge. He then took out his badge case and placed the boulder badge in it before putting it back in his bag.

After a trip to the Pokemon center Brock was ready to face Ash.

"Geodude go." Brock called out his first Pokemon.

" Let's go Pikachu." Ash called out as Pikachu jumped into battle.

Brock raised a eyebrow but decided to go along with it.

" Geodude uses rock throw!" Brock commanded. Geodude threw some rock around it. 

" Pikachu quick attack to get closer then use iron tail." Ash called out. Pikachu quickly move out of the way of the rocks being sent his way, before slamming his iron hard tail at Geodude.

The move was strong, but Geodude was still standing. " Geodude rollout!" Brock called.

" Pikachu use dig!" Ash called. Pikachu quickly dug underground to avoid being run over. "Now come out use iron tail!" 

Pikachu brust out behind Geodude and before Geodude can react and hit it with a iron tail. This time Geodude was down and out.

"Alright great work Pikachu!" Ash cheered. "Pika pika" Pikachu cheered just as happy.

Brock recalled Geodude before calling out Onix.

"Onix huh? Pikachu return for now." Ash said.

"Go Butterfree." Ash called out his second Pokemon.

 "Onix use wrap." Onix quickly moves to Butterfree, trying to constrict him. " Butterfree fly higher then use sleep powder!"  

Onix tried to constrict butterfree, but butterfree flew higher before releasing green powder that caused Onix to fall asleep.

" Oh no!" Brock cried out. "Butterfree use energy ball then solar beam." Ash commanded.

Butterfree fired a ball of green energy at Onix before charging a beam of light. " Onix wake up!" Brock called out.

When Onix managed to wake up it was to late as the solar beam hit its mark, taking Onix down.

" Alright!!"  "PIKA!" Ash and Pikachu cheered, happy for their victory.

" Return Onix and have a good rest." Brock said as he returned Onix.

Brock that gave Ash the boulder badge, Brock reveals that his dream is to be a Pokemon breeder, but can't go for his dream because of the gym and his siblings.

Then Brock's father showed up and tells him to chase his dreams while he takes care of everything here. 

 After telling his father everything he needs to know, Brock joined our hero's in their journey.

On the way Y/n told Brock about alola and how's it different from other regions and about the trail he will face.

Y/n also told him about Mew, Brock understands why he wants Mew a secret and promised to keep it.

Next time Y/n and gang will go though Mt moon where Y/n's next trail will begin.
