Y/n was at the locker room getting ready, he was supposed to facing the some gym leaders next, but Bede had challenged him, saying it will be his last battle before retiring. Palutena who came to Galar with three other master guardians for extra security urged Y/n to accept.

Y/n sighed as he was called, ready to face Bede one last time.

As the two met at the battlefield, no words were exchanged as they went to their sides of the battlefield. Soon, both sides sent out their Pokemon.

"Mawile, come!"

"Cinderace, battle time!"

"Iron head!"

"Flamethrower!"

Mawile charged at Cinderace surrounded with a silver aura while the Striker Pokemon let out a stream of fire , the flamethrower was stronger and knocked the Deceiver Pokemon back and burned it.

"Crunch!"

"Blast burn!"

Mawile's jaws glowed as it charged at Cinderace, but the Striker Pokemon let out a cry as he's engulfed by flames. he then punches the ground, sending a wave of energy into the earth which then moves underneath the Deceiver Pokemon. The energy then bursts upwards in a giant explosion of red-orange flames.

When it died down, it showed that Mawile was down and out.

Bede recalled Mawile while Y/n also recalled Cinderace, as the Striker Pokemon won't be able to move for a bit after using Blast burn.

"Gardervoir come!"

"Registeel battle time!"

"A legendary Pokemon? No matter, Calm mind!"

"Iron head!"

Faster then many would expect from such a large Pokemon, Registeel quickly charged at Gardervoir surrounded with a silver aura, the attack hit it's mark, the Embrace Pokemon was still standing, but did not use calm mind as ordered.

"It flinched?!" Bede said in disbelieve.

"Flash cannon!"

Registeel puts its arms together and creates a silver ball of energy. A silver energy beam is then fired from the ball at Gardervoir. The attack hit it's mark, causing a explosion , and when it died down, Gardervoir was down and out.

Bede recalls Gardervoir before sending out his Galarian Rapidash.

"Psycho cut!"

"Deflect it!"

Rapidash's horn glowed before it swung it, sending a blade of psychic energy at Registeel who knocked it away.

"Take down!"

"Grab it!"

Rapidash  charged at Registeel surrounded by a white aura, when it got close, the iron Pokemon grabbed the Unique Horn Pokemon and managed to stop it.

"Toss it! Then Body press!"

Registeel tossed Rapidash  in the air before lunging at it, it smashed Rapidash to the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust. When it died down, it shown Registeel was getting off a knocked out Rapidash.

Bede recalled Rapidash before sending out his Hatterene.

"Hatterene, the Silent Pokemon. A Psychic and Fairy Type. And the evolved form of Hattrem. It emits psychic power strong enough to cause headaches as a deterrent to the approach of others." Rotomdex beeped.

"Hatterene, it's time to Gigantamax!"

Bede recalled Hatterene to it's Pokeball before charging it up with energy causing it to grow into a beach ball sized premier ball, he then threw it behind him, he premier ball burst open, letting out a Gigantamaxed Hatterene.

Y/n decided to to the same, Y/n recalled Registeel to it's Pokeball before charging it up with energy causing it to grow into a beach ball sized premier ball, he then threw it behind him, he premier ball burst open, letting out a Dynamaxed Registeel.

"Max flare!"

"Max guard!"

Hatterene created a massive fire ball before lanching it at Registeel who forms a light blue barrier of energy in front of itself, protecting it from attacks, including Max Moves.

"G max smite!"

"Max Steelspike!"

Acting first, Registeel  slams its hands onto the ground, creating a series of jagged gray spikes that extend forward and strike Hatterene, causing a explosion. When it died down, Hatterene was back to normal size knocked out.

With the battle over, Registeel returned to normal size.

"Looks like learning your new move was worth it huh?" Y/n asked his Pokemon who beeped in agreement. The move was Steel beam, a powerful move with recoil.

Bede planned to retire as planned, but the encouragement from the crowd changed his mind. Bede said something about Y/n always ruining  his plans, which the aura guardian merely rolled his eyes at.

As Y/n got back to the locker room, he got a call from the ultra recon squad. A Ultra beast had appeared and he's needed to help capture it. 

Seeing the actual matches will start in a few hours, he agreed before informing the others. He was soon at Lush jungle. Y/n could sense the ultra beast's aura deep inside the jungle. After a few minutes of searching, he found it near where he had his grass trail.

"Xurkitree, the Glowing Pokemon. A Electric Type. One of the mysterious life-forms known as Ultra Beasts. Astonishing electric shocks emanate from its entire body, according to witnesses." Y/n's Rotomdex beeped.

Seeing Y/n, the ultra beast sparked and flared it's aura.

Y/n sent out his Landorus he temporally withdrew.

The Xurkitree let loose a thunderbolt, the attack hit but did no damage.

"Earthquake!"

Landorus slammed his tail on the ground, causing the area to shake violently. The greatly damaged the glowing Pokemon, but it held on. One of it's arms glowed green before swing it at Landorus who was slightly knocked back.

"Use stone edge!"

Landorus fired a barrage of sharp stones at Xurkitree, but it used power whip to to knock them away. But it missed one at struck it, causing it to flinch as the rest of them struck it head on, causing a dust cloud to form.

When it died down, the glowing Pokemon was barely standing.

Y/n took the chance to throw a beast ball.

1...2..3 and..ping. And with that, Xurkitree was caught.

Y/n then sent it to his parents, so it can be sent to the secret garden for the ultra recon squad to observe. Before returning to Galar, Y/n used the Charizard ride to fly to Hau'oli outskirts of Melemele island.

There he visited his parents and all three visited Iki town who cheered at the sight of their champion. He also met Hau and was proud to know he was doing great as temporary champion. 

As he chatted with Hau, Y/n could only wonder what the future holds as the journey continues.
