The Missing Link: Mirio × Soul Mate Male reader (A03 request #5) part 4

"Test three hundred sixty-seven.... for the love of God's work!" You say as Miro had his thumbs up, hoping you were going to work.

You had to wait on parts for your ship, so you started making the invisible girl who came to know as Toru. You had been studying genetics and trying to create something that would temporarily turn off her quirk so she could be seen. You and Mirio had been working in the lab and making armor that would turn visible once enough of her blood got on it. After catching things on fire, blowing things up, flooding the place twice, making a blob thing that wouldn't stop expanding, and nearly electrocuting yourself, you finally made the perfect suit that would react to Toru's blood if she lost too much and also detect injuries.

You and Mirio were good friends now and hung out a lot. You guys ate together, and everything you failed, he would suggest things or turn on some music to give you a dance break, which you enjoyed. It was strange because you never really had a friend your age due to being so bright. A lot of people hated you for it, but he didn't. Every time you made mistakes, he wouldn't say how a genius could make a mistake, but he never said those things to you; instead, he would bail you out and help you figure out what went wrong.

He helped you get books from the library and brought you snacks. He caught you twice when you blew stuff up and fazed in the lab when your blob wouldn't stop growing. You started working out with him to eliminate some of your stress, and you weren't just a tiny nerd anymore.

"Let's see if they work," you said as you let the apparent liquid mess with Toru's blood, and it reappeared.

Mirio got ready to catch you as you put the neutralizing agent and waited for her blood to turn invisible again. Waited and sighed, looking at the clock.

"Failed again, two minutes and nothing," you said as you removed your goggles.

"Hey, it's okay. We can try again," Mario said as you sat in the chair, defeated.

"I can make her appear, but not disappear is a problem. I made the pump that works great, but not this," you sighed as Mirio looked at it.

"All I see is water," he said as you looked at the clock.

"Wait, what did you say?" You asked as you went over to him.

"It's just water-looking stuff in here," Mirio said as you looked at it and looked back at him in shock.

"YES! IT WORKED!" You yelled as Miro smiled.

"It did?!" He asked as you hugged him.

"Yes! Now, let's go tell them!" You said you started filling the pump.

"See, I told you! Just give it some time, and you will figure it out. I can't believe you did it since you aren't a genetics expert,"  he said as you looked at all the whiteboards you used and the paper you used.

You smiled, and then you finished the pump with what it needed. You closed the pump and hugged Mirio tightly.

"Thank you; seriously, Toru is going to be seen for the first time in who knows how long, and she is going to have a lovely suit for once instead of being naked in public," you said as you gathered all your papers and followed the trail of numbered pages. You punched holes in it and included all failed prototypes so they would know what not to do.

"I didn't do anything," Mirio said as you smiled.

"You have done so much more than you think; now, let's show it off!" You said as you grabbed the folders and put the suits on a dolly

Mirio helped and loved every moment he spent with you, making and helping you with your project. He loved the small moments when you two would dance in while putting the suits together and doing experiments to see if they would work. He would miss you once you left because he was having a blast with you.

He started pushing it down the hall, and people were looking at you two weirdly because you were pushing seven different suits and one that was just cloth.

"This is going to be so great. I can say I made a hero costume! Back on my planet, they don't exist, so making these and making some extra equipment for her will surely help her out! Is it a bad thing? I don't want to leave this planet now?" You asked as Miro smiled.

"No, you are used to being here now," he said.

"It's not just that. I have friends here, Izuku, you, Tamaki, and Nejire; you all have been nice and helped me when needed. This world is so amazing and beautiful, way better than mine could ever be. There is real hope here, unlike my world," you explained as he paused.

"What about all your friends on your planet?" Miro asked.

"I have one named Richard. He adopted me once my parents died in a car wreck. My friends, well, I don't have any really because I work in a competitive field and I found out my ship was sabotaged, it's why the ship crashed the way it crashed. Someone tried to kill me, and now I have to go home before whoever tried to kill me makes another wormhole and comes here. If he finds a way to build another one here, I can see a war starting. I don't want to leave this place, but if I don't, I can't make sure all of you will be safe. Plus, now I have to figure out where this tooth came from. So far, from the lab, they can't identify it. I'm worried that what I did messed something up," you explained.

"Don't worry about it, alright? If something happens, it happens, and we will fix it. It's what we do. Your people don't have powers, so if they try to come here to fight us, we will win. You have nothing to worry about," Mirio said.

"Yeah, I know. I don't know. I'm just always worried. Sorry, I sound like a total girl, but a wormhole is like time traveling. It bends space and time," you explained.

"Do you need to play some video games after this?" Mirio asked as you smiled.

"I don't know, I could play some, but I might beat you," you say as he smiles.

"I don't think so. I was letting you win!" He said as you chuckled.

"You sure about that?" You asked as you smiled.

"I am sure!" He chuckled as you went to the classroom.

You knocked, and Eraserhead opened the door, looking displeased.

"Hi, I have a suit for Toru," you said as he looked at the dolly and saw the suits.

"At least I can sleep, so do whatever you want. You are in charge now he said as he opened the door and grabbed his sleeping bag.

"Sorry to bother you guys, but we have a present for Toru!" You may as the class looks at you confused. As you bring in the dolly.

"For me?!" She asked shyly.

"Yeah, for you. Since you are invisible, I thought about making you visible to people. Your quirk is unique, and after three hundred and so tests and several mishaps, as you all know about it, I think I made something you can use. You don't have to be in your birthday suit anymore," you explained as you grabbed a knife.

"So the problem with your quirk is that no one can see you, so we made this cloth that is built to handle it," you said as you got the cloth and put it in front of you, and your body blended in with your surroundings.

"It's invisible almost, I say almost because this suit turns visible if you need it to," you said as you pressed a button and made the suit appear reviling a mesh-looking cloth.

"This also does it automatically if you hurt," you said as you stabbed the dummy; you put a blood bag on that replicated hers.

It was in the stomach, and the suit completely turned visible.

"You have to lose a certain amount of blood to make it activate on its own or if you get a life-threatening hit. If your heart stops, it will make you visible so people can help you. Also, we made this pump for you. Put it on your arm and hit the start button at the top," you said. As you gave her the pump, she put it on her arm and pressed start. The machine attached the pump to her arm, making her jump in shock.

"Not hit the green button," you said as she touched it.

It was slow, but after five minutes, she turned visible to everyone, making the class gasp in shock.

"We can see you!!" Momo yelled!

"You can see me?! Does that mean I lost my quirk?!" She asked, terrified.

"It's not permanent; hit the red button," you said as she hit the red button, and slowly, she started Turning invisible again.

"Now that's what I'm talking about! It will take five minutes for both to work. If you want to be seen, it will last twelve hours, and that's on one dose. If you don't want to, it will reverse it with no problems. It won't interfere with your powers, and you will not have to need it for the rest of your life. I made sure of it. You can be seen now and each device houses two weeks of both. So that means you can do as much as you need without worrying about running out. But make sure you do change it as often as you need to. In theory, if you were to turn it on and off twenty-eight times on both, you would run out. It also shows how much you have left of both. If you use one less than the other, you can move the cartridge to the pump," you said as she made herself visible again and started crying.

"This is the best gift I ever got!" She cried as she got up and hugged you.

"I didn't want you walking around in your birthday suit anymore. So here is your suit; I also added some self-defense weapons on it so you can defend yourself a little bit better," you said as she was in tears.

"Thank you so much, Y/n. It's amazing! Thank you, Mirio," she cried as she looked at the suit.

"It's the least I could do; I never made a suit before, so I'm glad you like it. Sorry, it's not pretty, but it's something," you said as you smiled.

You looked at Mirio, and he hugged you for doing what you set out to do and didn't give up. You wanted to stay here with him and all these people.

"Nice work!" Izuku cheered.

"Now I won't accidentally kill her," Shoto said.

"She is hot!" Minoru said as Kirishima smacked him on the back of the head.

"Nice work! Could you maybe do something to my suit?" Kirishima asked.

"Me too!" Izuku said.

"Stupid nerd, he did it for her because she was going around naked. Soon, he is going to have to leave. He can't stay here forever, making us crap," Bakugo growled.

"You did such a good job!" Mirio said.

"No, we did; thanks for not giving up on me and putting up with the late nights, the chaos, and my screw-ups," you said as he smiled.

"Anything for you," he said as you let go of him.

"I better give my findings to the people that build the suits and make a copy for the principal," you explained as you smiled brightly.

"Hey, is Y/n in here?" A lady asked as she poked her head into the classroom.

"That's me," you said.

"There is some stuff here for you," the woman said as you sighed.

"Ship pieces... I guess I should start working on that ship again," you said as Mirio smiled.

"Nope, not right now. You need a break; let's go out and celebrate tonight. We can have a party here!" He said as you smiled.

"I would love that, isn't she beautiful? Now everyone is going to see it,' you smiled as Mirio nodded, but what you didn't know was that Mirio liked you way more.

No matter how many times you got blown up, you never gave up. You were resilient, and the words give up were now nonexistent to you because you got your confidence back. Mirio loved how your mind worked and how you loved discussing everything you were thinking about. He loved the way you had fun even though you were stressing out and loved how you cooked.  He loved everything about you before, but he loved you more after spending the last month and a half with you.
