Metaphors and Sarcasm Todoroki Shoto × Reader part 2

It was very odd for you to leave Friday night and come back Sunday morning unless you had something school-related going on. You would always leave with a small bag. Sometimes, you wouldn't come back with the bag you left with. Sometimes you come back with a plastic bag or a trash bag and no one knows why. You also, oddly enough, started to send your location to your closest friends, such as Kirishima or Invisible Girl, because it was something you did with your parents. Also, your behavior was very odd when it came to your phone. Your phone had to be on you at all times, and you were sending pictures of where you were. Your phone was always a hundred percent. You would get calls at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and you had to answer them.

You were also becoming increasingly nervous around your friends, but no one noticed, but Todoroki, because he raised his arm to get something, and you flinched. You never flinched before and were trying to hug them all the time. You were still that way, but it seemed more forced. Also, you had been wearing makeup. It wasn't noticeable at first, but gradually, you started to wear more and more.

Today, you were exercising outside with everyone, and you were shocking everyone with your balance control. You had your stick across the top of a ceramic pot. You were balancing in the center one-handed while having a thirty-pound weight in another hand.

"How...." Kirishima, as you did the splits.

"Why isn't she practicing with her quirk?" Tsuyu asked as you dropped the weight and did the other arm.

Shoto noticed how you were just focusing on your body, and he wasn't impressed, but he was shocked you had been doing that for now twenty minutes. You got off the pot and started practicing fighting with your sick and dancing as well, making him confused.

He went over to you to see if you need a partner. You were wearing shorts and a tank top as well as tennis shoes. You were listening to music while Minoru was being a creep and watching you. Todoroki walked over to you while you weren't paying attention, and you almost hit him with your stick, but he dodged and got snagged on your earbud cord. He ripped them out of your ears, and your phone went flying. Your music was on pause, and you accidentally hit play when your phone hit your hand.

Fantasy by Mariah Carey was playing now, and you both looked at each other oddly as your phone was playing the song. Your face turned red as it continued to play, and Shoto picked it up for you and gave you your phone back.

"Thanks, sorry about that," you said awkwardly as you took it back.

"Need a partner?" He asked as you looked at him shocked.

"You never asked before why now?" You asked as he had a suspension something was wrong, and you were keeping everyone in the dark about it.

It had to be something at home, or maybe you were seeing someone outside of the school that was less the idea that you couldn't get away from for whatever reason. He didn't want to seem concerned or raise any red flags that he knew you had been acting odd. He didn't know you, of course, so he didn't know you were normal, but your flinching that one time caused him to think about what he went through. Plus, your parents didn't like you cooking and were constantly checking in on you and making you go home during the weekend.

"We both have fire quirks. That's the only reason I asked," he said as he smiled a bit.

"Okay, that's fine, what do you want to do?" You asked as he noticed a bruise on your neck.

"How did you get that?" Todoroki asked as he pointed to your neck.

"Oh, that. Doing this," you said, and you put your stick on your neck and spun it around.

"Why would you need to learn how to do that? It seems pretty pointless," Todoroki said.

"I just wanted to see if I could; it's like hula hooping," you chuckled.

"You are very strange trying to learn a useless skill," he said.

"No skill is useless. You never know when it will come in handy. Like this, watch this," you said as summoned your fire quirk in your left hand as well but made fire spikes that seemed to levitate in your hand.

"How did you do that?" He asked as you smiled.

"Big blasts use my energy too fast, so I use a combination. These aren't even floating. They are all held together by a single thread of fire," you said as showed him your hand and the thin flame that was as strong as steel.

You then turned them into a whip. You did the same thing with your water quirk. But this time, you whipped it around and accidentally hit Bakugo in the butt with it, making him suddenly moan. You both looked at him shocked.

"What the fuck is wrong with you nerds!?" Bakugo yelled.

"Sorry! Great, he's mad at me," you sighed.

"How long did it take you to learn how to do that?" Todoroki asked.

"Years, but since I had so much free time growing up, I spent like six plus hours a day teaching myself," you said as you put your water whip away.

"You're self-taught?" He asked.

"Yeah.. my dad isn't that great, and my mother struggles with Bipolar disorder. She found out she had it in her twenties. She never took good care of it, so I had to teach myself. Most of the stuff I know and do I taught myself," you explained softly.

He realized your life wasn't perfect at all, but you made it look like your parents loved and cared for you, but in real life, they never paid any attention to you. But then why all of a sudden did they want you to visit during the weekend? Plus, you were sharing your location a lot. Sharing it alone was strange, but you did it anywhere you left the building.

"I know what it's like having a bad father. He's powerful, and I want to make a name for myself," Todoroki said.

"I want to be a hero, but I'm never going to have the chance, I can teach you what I know, and hopefully you get there," you smiled.

"You aren't going to be a pro hero?" He asked.

"No, my parents already made plans for me. Once I leave this school, no one is going to hear from me again. It's probably for the best. I'm not that great like you guys," you said as Todoroki thought for a moment.

"You can make your path. You don't need to follow in the footsteps of your parents' plan for you," he said.

"I wish I had a choice. Right now, I don't. It's the only thing keeping me here at this school. If I break their rules, I'm gone," you explained, "so you want to fight with your left side. Let's do some training," you said as you lit your left side on fire.

"You can only use one half of your body like me?" He asked.

"I can use both, but if I do, it drains my other element to the point I might not be able to use it for weeks, maybe months," you explained.

"Seems reasonable. I can only use half my body. I haven't mastered using both at the same time," he said.

"Same here, hey, I can even teach you metaphors and sarcasm. Since you are really bad at that, it seems like," you said.

"I am bad at it from what I have been told," he said as you both started training your left sides, but yours was bright and beautiful.

His father showed up and saw you practicing basic attacks while trying to help him focus his fire on a small space like you could. At one point, Todoroki set your sleeve on fire, so you put it out with your water quirk getting him wet, too. You laughed as he looked unamused by it. You took the water you sprayed on him off with your quirk and threw the water into the area, causing a temporary rainbow.

"That's so pretty!" Invisible girl yelled as you smiled.

Todoroki's father glared at you, knowing fully well who your parents were. He already viewed you as a failure, and if you were with him for any reason, he was going to say you did a horrible job. He was going to make sure you never were around him if he could help it. He couldn't believe no one knew who your father was since he was a really bad guy in the past.
