It was the next day, and Y/n had picked Twilight up from his secret hangout spot before leading her back to school. As they make their way past the statue, which Twilight stared at longingly, Principal Celestia spoke over the intercoms for the morning announcements.

Principal Celestia: *intercoms* "Good morning, students, and happy Thursday. Just a reminder to pick up your ballots for the Prince and Princess of the Fall Formal today. They are due by the time the dance starts tomorrow night, so don't forget to turn them in and make your voice heard."

Y/n groaned at this, remembering that he signed up to be on the ballot for the Fall Formal Prince. However, Twilight patted his shoulder assuringly, making him sigh.

Y/n: "Right... Anyway, you got any idea on what to do to get voted?"

Twilight: *nods* "You and Fluttershy said I need to win over all those different groups if I want to become Princess of the Fall Formal, so I've compiled a list of talking points."

Spike couldn't help but snicker from inside Twilight's backpack, but Y/n did as well.

Twilight: "What?"

Y/n: "Sorry. Just... seems very like you. But go on."

Twilight: "I'll start introducing myself. Sprinkle in some things I've learned about your world into the conversation. Show them how I fit in here."

Y/n nods as he and Twilight make their way to the front door, and the former turns to the latter.

Y/n: "You ready, princess?"

Twilight takes a deep breath in before nodding.

Twilight: "As ready as I'll ever be. Time to make a good first impression on my fellow students. The world kinda depends on it."

Y/n: "Righty-o. Let's win this thing."

Y/n says as he opens the door and the two enter CHS. They walk down the hall, Y/n just blankly looking forward as Twilight looks around them. That's when they heard the students whispering and laughing around them. This immediately grabbed Twilight's attention as she grew confused, turning to her human friend in concern.

Twilight: "What's going on? Is this some human tradition that I don't know yet?"

Y/n: "You can say that... it's not a very good one, though..."

He responds, eyeing his fellow student body in question and suspicion. That's when they were both grabbed by the arm and pulled into an empty classroom, with Twilight knocking into a desk and Y/n falling to his butt.

Twilight: "What're you-? Why did you-?"

She turns around to see who pulled her and Y/n inside, only for her eyes to go wide in surprise.

Twilight: "Rarity?"

Y/n: "Rarity? Why did you pull us in here?"

The purple-haired fashionista remained quiet as she dashed towards Twilight, using a tape measurer to examine her. Then she smiled as she got an idea and pulled a green dress from her backpack.

Rarity: "Perfect!"

She immediately turned around and forced it onto Twilight, replacing her purple clothing along with giving her a blonde wig. Twilight blinked a few times as Y/n stared in confusion.

Rarity: "Yes, this is good. No one will recognize you!"

Twilight & Y/n: "Why wouldn't I/she want to be-?"

Rarity: "And we'll need a disguise for Y/n and your dog, of course."

Y/n: "Rarity, what in tarnations are you yapping about?"

The door suddenly opens to reveal Applejack, who seems relieved to find Y/n and Twilight.

Applejack: "There you two are!"

Rarity scoffed as she realized the country girl immediately recognized Twilight and crossed her arms in disappointment.

Rarity: "So much for the disguise."

Applejack: "I've been looking all over for ya."

Fluttershy: "Me too."

The pinkette says as she pokes her head through the doorway before Pinkie Pie pokes her head in from above the doorway.

Pinkie Pie: "Me three!"

She then zooms over to Twilight and looks her up and down.

Pinkie Pie: "I like your new look!"

Rarity: "I do have an eye for these sorts of things. Not that you seem to care."

Pinkie Pie: "WHAT?!"

Twilight: "Why do you think she doesn't care?"

Pinkie growls at Rarity as Applejack motions for Twilight to keep quiet.

Twilight: "Nevermind... Why were you all looking for us?"

Y/n: "Yeah, what's happening?"

Fluttershy: "Oh. They haven't seen it yet..."

Twilight & Y/n: "Seen what?"

Pinkie Pie immediately pulled out a pink computer and placed it on a desk, opening it up as everyone gathered in front of it.

Pinkie Pie: "Oh, it's really not that bad."

She says as she opens up a video, which shows Twilight pounding her knuckles on the library computer from yesterday with Y/n next to her. Then the voice of Sunset Shimmer spoke through it.

Y/n: "What...?"

Sunset: *video* "Twilight Sparkle and Y/n L/n want to be your Fall Formal Prince and Princess."

It suddenly zooms in on their faces, the colors inverting as it focuses on Twilight making a dumb face.

Sunset: *video* "But what does it say about our school if we give someone like this..."

It seems like the video was focusing on Twilight since it zooms in on her picking up a fallen book with her mouth, her saliva all over it.

Sunset: *video* "... such an important honor?"

Then the video shows Twilight falling back after getting flashed by the library's printer. The entire video made Y/n beyond fuming as his ears turned red, and Twilight gasped as she cupped her face in shock.

Twilight: "I... I..."

Y/n shuts the computer, no longer wanting to watch it.

Pinkie Pie: "I take that back. It's pretty bad...!"

Twilight: "But this all happened yesterday! At the library. Has everyone in the school seen this...?"

Y/n: "Everyone but us, it seems..."

Twilight: "Is that why they were all looking at us that way?"

Twilight asks as she hides behind the chair she was sitting on, and none of the girls want to answer. This makes Y/n groan as he pinches the bridge of his nose.

Y/n: "What're we gonna do...? No one's gonna vote for us after seeing this... Especially for Twilight."

Fluttershy: "Not that it'll make any difference, but I'll still vote for you two."

Twilight slammed her head down on the desk.

Fluttershy: "You were so nice to stand up for me when Sunset Shimmer was picking on me yesterday."

Applejack: "And you can count on me and mah sister to vote for you, Y/n. Ya did help her the other day."

Y/n groaned as he held his face in his hands.

Pinkie Pie: "If you still want to run, maybe there's something I can do to help!"

Fluttershy: "Word of advice, don't accept her help. She doesn't take anything seriously!"

Pinkie Pie: "Uh-!? Why do you have to be so awful to me?!"

Rarity: "Oh! Pft! Keh! Don't play innocent, Pinkie Pie! You are no better than she is!"

Pinkie Pie: "And what is that supposed to mean?!"

Y/n blinks, suddenly very confused. How long did THEY hate each other?

Rarity: "I am happy to offer up my assistance as well--" *towards Pinkie* "--to SOMEONE WHO WOULD APPRECIATE WHAT I HAVE TO OFFER!"

Rarity, Fluttershy, and Pinkie immediately began arguing between each other, making Spike hide in Twilight's backpack as Twilight grabbed Y/n's arm in shock. That's when Applejack finally stepped in and yelled out to them.

Applejack: "Listen to y'all carrying on! Get over it and move on."

She ordered as she dropped an apple into a trashcan and crossed her arms. However, Rarity had something to say about that.

Rarity: "You mean like how you've gotten over with what happened with Rainbow Dash?"

Applejack: "She said she'd get the softball team to make an appearance at my bake sale, I'll tell everybody they're comin', and then not one of 'em shows up. She made a liar outta me! That's different."

Girls: "Is not!"

Applejack: "Is too!"

Everyone started arguing again, making Twilight hold her head for a moment as Y/n covered his ears. Then the princess screamed.

Twilight: "BE QUIET! All of you! I want to show you something."

She holds her hand out, and Spike pulls out a yearbook and hands it to her. She opened it up, right to a page showing a picture of the girls when they were freshmen.

Twilight: "You were friends once."

Applejack: "The freshman fair. Y'all remember?"

Girls: "Yes..."

Y/n: "This was when I first started taking pictures, too..."

Pinkie Pie: "Yeah! I think you actually took this one, Y/n!"

Y/n: "I did, didn't I?"

He smiled at the memory, remembering that then was when he first met Pinkie.

Twilight: "You were friends, but something happened. I think that something was Sunset Shimmer."

Rarity: "Well, it's a nice theory, darling, but Sunset Shimmer had nothing to do with it."

Y/n: "That's fair. I mean, Sunset's barely talked to them outside of picking on them."

Fluttershy: "They're right. Sunset Shimmer isn't the one who ruined my silence auction for the animal shelter by bringing fireworks and noisemakers. Ugh! It was supposed to be a serious event, and Pinkie Pie ruined it!"

Pinkie Pie: "What are you talking about?! I got a text from you saying that you didn't want a silent auction, you wanted a big party!"

Pinkie exclaims as she shows her texts with Fluttershy.

Fluttershy: "I never sent you a text."

Pinkie Pie: "You didn't?"

Y/n: "Oh, you gotta be pulling on my leg..."

Rarity: "You don't think she's the one who's been sending me those emails, do you? Every time I volunteer to help with the decorations at a school function, I get an email from Pinkie Pie she has plenty of volunteers. And then I find that she's done everything herself!"

Pinkie Pie: "I never sent you any emails."

Y/n: "Christ, she must've hacked your phones."

Applejack: "Maybe she's the reason Rainbow Dash didn't show up for my bake sale."

Twilight: "Didn't you ever ask Rainbow Dash why she didn't show up?"

Applejack: "I guess I kinda stopped talking to her at all after that..."

She states as she takes off her hat, holding it to her chest.

Twilight: "Maybe now would be a good time to start."

Twilight says as she grabs the girl's hat and places it back on her head, making her smile.

At the school field, a girl with rainbow hair and colorful clothes can be seen kicking soccer balls into a net. At the benches, Y/n and the girls sat and watched as Applejack approached Rainbow Dash and got her attention. That's when they started talking.

Rarity: "I can't believe it! They're actually talking! That's a good sign."

The two continued talking before hugging, making Pinkie smile.

Pinkie Pie: "Hugs! Ooooh, hugs are always good!"

Soon the two girls made their way to the others on the bleachers, Applejack speaking first as they approach.

Applejack: "Turns out somebody, and I think we all know who, told Rainbow Dash that my bake sale had been moved to a different day. Dash showed up with all the softball and thought I'd canceled on her!"

Rainbow was the next to step forward, looking at Twilight and Y/n.

Rainbow Dash: "So, you're the girl who's looking to dethrone Sunset Shimmer and become Princess of the Fall Formal with Y/n here as your prince, eh?"

Twilight nodded.

Rainbow Dash: *dribbling ball* "Gotta say, I'd really love to see that happen. I'll totally help you out!"

Y/n: "Yes!"

Rainbow Dash: "As long aw Twilight, here, beats me in a game of one-on-one."

Twilight: "What...?"

Y/n: "No...!"

Rainbow Dash: "First to five wins!"

Rainbow immediately kicked the soccer ball she was dribbling into the net, scoring herself the first point.

The rest of the next thirty minutes didn't go so well for Twilight. Every time she tried, she messed up as Rainbow stole the goal from her. It didn't help that she barely knew how to use her legs, and ended the game 5-0 towards Rainbow and the princess exhausted on the ground.

Rainbow Dash: "That's game!"

She stated as she hovered over her, the others quickly making their way to Twilight as well to check on her.

Rarity: "I... really thought you were gonna pull it off there in the end!"

Y/n: "I didn't. I knew she'd lose."

Rarity immediately socked Y/n in the shoulder.

Y/n: "What? It's Rainbow Dash! Of course she wasn't gonna win."

Rainbow couldn't help but laugh at this before she crouched down to look at Twilight.

Rainbow Dash: "So what's the plan? How can I help you be princess instead of Sunset Shimmer?"

She asked as she grabbed Twilight's hand and pulled her up to her feet, a flabbergasted look on her face.

Twilight: "But... I... lost...!"

Rainbow Dash: "Of course you lost! I'm awesome! But I'm not gonna help just anybody try and beat Sunset Shimmer. The Fall Formal Princess, and the prince in extension, should be someone with heart and determination. You, and Y/n when he stood up to Shimmer the other day, probed that you got what it takes."

Rainbow says as she playfully punches Twilight in the shoulder before hugging her, making the girls cheer while Y/n crosses his arms with a smile.

However, none were aware of Snips and Snails recording everything and showing it all to Sunset, who grins evilly at it.

At The Sweet Shoppe, Y/n and the girls had seated themselves at a table with milkshakes in front of them. Y/n did notice Twilight bump into Flash Sentry and get her drink all over him. He rolled his eyes at the awkward exchange the two had and sipped on his milkshake before the princess walked over to them. She then blushed as she started twirling her hair, which Rarity noticed.

Rarity: "Don't even think about it! You're already trying to get her crown. Who knows what Sunset Shimmer would do if you ended up getting her ex-boyfriend, too."

Twilight: "I-I'm not trying to! I don't even know- we just accidentally- ... ex-boyfriend?"

Fluttershy: "Flash Sentry broke up with her a few weeks ago."

Y/n: "And boy, was she maaaaad!"

He snickered a bit at this and Pinkie patted his shoulder to get him to stop, but she couldn't help but giggle as well.

Fluttershy: "I can't believe she hasn't done something awful to him yet."

Twilight: "Maybe she's just waiting until she had the power to do something really awful!"

Y/n narrowed his eyes at this as he stirred his milkshake with his straw. However, that's when Applejack stood from her seat and spoke up.

Applejack: "Alright, girls! And Y/n. The dance is tomorrow night, and we still don't know how we're get Y/n and Twilight the votes they need to be named prince and princess. Right now, folks only know them from the video Sunset Shimmer posted online. We need to help 'em see them differently."

Y/n: "Actually, I'm fine with just focusing on Twilight here. She's the important one here who REALLY needs to win. And you all are absolutely creative, so what do we got?"

The girls immediately started brainstorming, humming in thought. That's when Rarity suddenly stood up, nearly making Y/n fall from his chair as she threw her hands into the air.

Rarity: "I GOT IT!"

The entire shoppe went silent as they all stared at the girl, who immediately became embarrassed as she cleared her throat and calmed down a tad bit.

Rarity: "Uh, um... I mean, um, perhaps I have a solution."

She walks over to her bag and dug into it, pulling out a strap on tail and pony ears on a headband.

Rarity: "Now, this may be an absolute preposterous idea, but what if we all wore these as a sign of unity?"

Y/n: "Pony ears... and a tail? Wait, aren't those the ones from freshman year?"

Rarity: "Indeed, darling! They were very popular back then." *puts ears and tails on* "A way for everybody to show their school spirit! You know... Go, Canterlot Wondercolts! Ahem... I haven't sold any in ages."

Y/n: 'I wonder why...'

Rarity: *handing them out* "I mean, five of us are obviously very different, but deep down, we're all Canterlot Wondercolts! Sunset Shimmer is the one who divided us, Twilight Sparkle is the one who united us with the help of Y/n L/n! And we're gonna let everyone know who our prince and princess are!"

Rarity exclaims as she places a set of ears on both Twilight and Y/n's head, taking the latter by surprise.

Y/n: "Wait, you're ACTUALLY gonna try to get me to be the prince?"

Rarity: "Of course, Y/n! Anything for a friend."

Y/n blinked in surprise before looking over at Pinkie, who smiled at him and gave him a thumbs-up. He smiled back before looking up at Rarity.

Y/n: "Anything for a friend."

Rarity: "Eeeeh, wonderful! Now, what do you all think?"

All the other girls immediately smiled, nodded, and gave a thumbs-up in response to the fashion designer's idea. Rarity then hugged both Twilight and Y/n, who liked at each other before smiling.

Then Y/n suddenly smiled wider.

Y/n: "I think I also got an idea."

It was finally Friday. The day of the Fall Formal Dance.

It was midday, and everyone was at lunch. All the students were minding their own business, doing their things in their separate groups.

With the fashionistas' table, Rarity sat down with an empty lunch tray before putting on her set of pony ears.

With the athletes, Rainbow Dash sat down before putting on a set of pony ears.

And in the lunch line, Pinkie put on her own set of pony ears before she started beating her tray against the counter in a rhythm of sorts.

*BAM!*
*BAM!* *BAM!*

At her table, Rarity made the same rhythm with her hands and feet. With the ecos, Fluttershy made the same rhythm with a set of cups against the table. Then Applejack, at her own table, started clapping her hands and beating them against the table. And Rainbow was doing the same thing Pinkie was at her table.

Everyone looked at them in confusion before Spike, who was hiding in the corner, pressed play on a speaker radio as music that followed the same rhythm the girls were making. Then the five suddenly sprung up and began singing.

Girls:
"🎶Hey, hey, everybody
We've got something to say
We may seem as different
As the night is from day!🎶"

The girls started moving about the cafeteria, clapping their hands together before getting together in front of everyone and synchronizing a dance.

Girls:

They then began to pose a bit, getting everyone's attention before they began singing once again. Dancing, too!

Girls:
"🎶Yeah!

Until Twilight Sparkle and Y/n L/n

Then Pinkie took the spotlight, moving and dancing before shouting in someone's face with a megaphone.

Pinkie Pie:

We're sending a message to the crowd
Hands wave up, then come down
We party together all around!🎶"

Rarity:
"🎶Generous, honesty🎶"

Applejack:
"🎶Laughter, kindness, loyalty!🎶"

Fluttershy:
"🎶Twilight and Y/n helped us each to see🎶"

Rainbow Dash:
"🎶All that we can be!🎶"

They all started to stomp down the rows of the cafeteria, clapping as they sang together again.

Girls:

Helping Twilight and Y/n win the crowns!🎶

Pinkie and Rarity opened the cafeteria doors, revealing Twilight and Y/n in matching outfits like the others. They then walked forward as they, too, began singing! It was Y/n's idea, after all.

Twilight & Y/n:
"🎶We're gonna be ourselves
No matter what we do
And if we're different, yeah

They sang together, gaining everyone's attention quickly with their duet before passing Flash, who does a riff with his guitar.

Twilight:
"🎶If you follow us🎶"

Y/n:
"🎶We'll put our differences aside!🎶"

Twilight:
"🎶We'll stick together and🎶"

Twilight & Y/n:
"🎶Start working on that school pride!🎶"

Twilight and Y/n sang as they jumped up on one of the tables before the girls joined them as they all danced.

Y/n & The Girls:

Stomp your hooves, turn around!
Start now, make a change

That's when even the students joined in, getting into the groove and vibe of the entire cafeteria as they all sang together.

Everyone:

That's when even Flash and his band started playing for them, and the girls tossed the tails and ears to everyone in the cafeteria as the song continued.

Meanwhile, as everyone was singing and dancing inside the cafeteria, Sunset watched from outside in anger. Then she turned around, only to see her lackies dancing along with their own ears and tails. This made her even angrier as she yelled at them.

Sunset Shimmer: "TAKE THOSE OFF!"

Both Snips and Snails did as they were told and hid the accessories behind their backs.

Sunset Shimmer: "I have something I need you to do."
