Y/n POV
______________
Annabeth was sitting with Percy by the fire they had started when I came back.
The warm light glowed, highlighting her golden hair and reflecting off tears on her cheeks.
My heart broke.
I did this.
I slowly step forward and she turns her head to face me.
I thought I saw her cheeks turns a pale shade of pink, but it could be the heat of the fire.
... Right?
Percy just smiles and stands up.
"I'll leave you two to sort out your drama" He says before giving Annabeth a small wink and walking off in the direction I just came from.
I could've swore I heard him whistling a love song.
Was it just me or did Annabeth drama dump on Percy?
I stepped closer, my legs feeling weaker than usual.
I sat down as far away from her as I could on the turned over log she decided earlier would make a good seat.
We both stare into the flames for a few quiet minutes before I spoke up.
"I'm sorry." I say feeling a tear drip down my left cheek, leaving a trail of guilt.
I keep messing up, making her hurt.
I bring everyone down with me.
I rest my chin in my palm, leaning forward.
She straightens her posture. "What for? You did nothing wrong."
She scoots over to now sit next to me. "If anything I'm in the wrong."
She turns back to the fire.
"I'm sorry I read your poems..." Her voice trailed off.
I looked up raising and eyebrow.
"What do you mean? I fuckin blew up over nothing."
I join her staring back at the fire.
"Friends don't invade each other's privacy."
I smile sadly at her, shifting my hand to rest on top of hers.
"Friends still?" I ask, my voice somehow regaining lost hope.
"Friends." She agrees, nodding her head and wiping away the last of her tears.
And we sit there together for the rest of the night, not a care in the world.
And somehow the nightmare slowly drifted into a dream.
