Loviez Maruné
* Lora Croffard's POV *
Two days have passed from when I first met the kids. I must admit, so far so good. We're getting along pretty well. Chloe is the cutest thing ever, Angy is a piece of cake and Daniel is a pretty good bad boy. He says he gets that from his older cousin.
We're currently at the grocery store getting some ingredients for tonight. The family is coming over. And by family I mean the whole family. There's like thirty people in this family. I never knew a family could be so big.
"Lora?" Chloe asked.
"Yes, Chloe?"
"Do you have a boyfriend."
"No, Chloe."
"Why not?"
"Chloe. Not everybody needs a someone in their life."
"So, you want to go solo your whole life?" Daniel says, raising his eyebrow.
"It's not that I want to, but I wouldn't go crazy if I'm alone."
"But Daniel once said that no one can survive alone."
"That's because he is a hormonal teenager."
"What's hor-mo-bial?"
"What's next on the list, Daniel." I quickly change the subject. Daniel lookes down at the paper in his hands.
"Eggs, flower and oil."
* Liam Lockwood's POV *
"Liam, Amber, come-on let's go!" I swing on my jacket, running downstairs.
We drive off to the other side of the town. Parking in front of the house. We walk up to the front door and I ring the bell.
The door goes open and my breath gets caught in my throat. "Wait! It's you?!" it flies out before I could think twice.
"Liam! Manners!" my mom's voice comes from behind me, but it doesn't register in my head.
"What are you doing here?" She also looks surprised, almost not blinking.
"Come in," was the only thing she said, stepping aside. My mother pushes me inside.
She walks into the kitchen, but before I could follow her, Aunt Mary comes towards us.
* Lora Croffard's POV *
I walk into the kitchen, leaning against the nearest wall. He's here. He, as in the cute jacket guy. My heart is going crazy. Oh no. What am I going to do?!
"Lora!" I heard Mary call. I take a deep breath, before going out to the deck where they all are seated. Everybody's already here.
"Lora, darling. You can have the rest of the day of. You've done enough putting everything together for today."
"No!" three voices called. One of them belongs to Chloe, the other to Daniel and the last one from... Liam? Everybody's eyes were on him, finding their way back to me.
"What the hell, Liam?" Daniel said. "Are you seriously hitting on our nanny?"
"No, I actually sort-of know her."
"You don't know me, Liam."
"Oh really? You still have my jacket."
"Just because I have your jacket doesn't mean you know me."
"Maybe, yeah, but I'd like to." Everybody's eyes were straight on me now. I felt my cheeks light up and I bite my lower lip.
"Um, I'll just go to my room."
"No!" the same three voices called.
"Mom, please can Lora stay with us," Chloe calls out.
"It's really not necessary. It's a family thing. You guys have some family time together."
"Nonsens!" Mary said. "You're so much as family as anybody here. Come sit down, dear."
"I really don't-"
"Lora! Get your ass down now!"
"Yes, ma'am." I take the nearest seat, which was somehow the seat right across Liam. He gave me a smirk and a wink. I immediately tear my gaze away from his. This is going to be a long day.
**********
"So, Lora. What are your long-term plans?" one of the aunts ask.
"Um, I'm not really that sure yet. But I'm saving up to move to London."
"London? Why London?"
"Because my grandmother's there."
"Oh, aren't you happy here?"
"I have nothing that's keeping me here, so not really."
"Don't you have any other family here?"
"Only my aunt. That's where I lived before I started here."
"Where are your parents?"
"They died when I was five."
"Oh, I'm so sorry."
"Don't be, it's been a long time." Angy started to cry through the monitor. "I'll get her." I offer and go inside to go upstairs.
I pick her out of her cot. Rubbing her back. She slowly starts to calm down. "There you go, baby girl." I sit her up, facing me. "That's my baby. See, everything's okay. Wanna go downstairs? Everybody's waiting for you."
"You know you're talking to a baby, right?" I spin around to see Liam leaning on the doorframe.
"A baby's still a person. And if they don't hear people talk, how are they suppose to learn?"
"She's five months old."
"Yet nothing is wrong with her hearing."
He throws his hands defensively in the air. "Okay, sorry." I try to walk pass him, but he moves to stand in front of me blocking the way.
"What do you want from me, Liam. If it's you jacket I'll go and fetch it right away."
"You can keep it."
"Now what's your problem? Jeez, get out of the way."
"Why doesn't anyone at the café know where you live?"
"What?"
"I went there like three times this week to find out where you live."
"Why?"
"Because I told you I would come and pick up my jacket. When I went they told me you got fired. So I went back to find out where on earth you might be."
"I'll go fetch your jacket then."
"No. Keep my jacket. It isn't important to me."
"Can you please get out of my way in that case?"
He sighs and steps aside. "Thanks." I say, hurrying down back to the other guests. A few minutes later Liam came out taking a seat next to me, not once looking in my direction.
* Liam Lockwood's POV *
I think I'm gonna go crazy. Here she sits next to me, with my cousin in her arms. Chloe's hanging at her lip and Daniel is completely hypnotised by her.
Why am I feeling this way? Why is she making me feel this way?
You're jealous, Liam. Shut up conscience! I'm not jealous of my cousins' nanny. Oh please not.
I need to get to know her better than anyone else. We should go out to clubs dancing to the beats and we need to go to fancy restaurants without having a awkward moment.
But how am I going to convince her that we can at least be good friends.
Nash came walking in talking to Aunt Mary. A light went of in my head. That's it! Nash is the center of my goal. I'll corner her later.
